Funeral of Mrs. Avis Swick
at Wilson Methodist church.

Wilson, April 15.—The funeral of
Mrs. Avis Swick, 75 years old, widow
of Augustln W. Swick. who died on
Monday at the home of her daughter,
Mrs. Ira W. Swick, at Niagara Falls,
was held in the Methodist church
here this afternoon. The Rev. William
Robinson of Wellsville officiating.
She was a prominent resident of
this place for 25 years. She is survived
by Mrs. Ira W. Swick: two sons,
Leander E. Carey of Wilson and
Hamilton Swick of Newfane' four
grandchildren, four stepdaughters,
Mrs. Rollin L. Cushing and Mrs. Arch
C. Scoby of Tonawanda, Mrs. Jason
brace of Buffalo and Mrs. Burt N.
lafler of North Ridge; five stepsons,
Eugene Swick of Lansing, Mich.,
Homer E. Swick of Buffalo, John L.
and Ira W. Swick of Niagara Falls
and Burt Swick of Erie, Pa., and a
sister, Mrs. Henry Highland of Niag-
ara Falls.

Widely Known Woman Pastes at Residence
Here After Heart Attack
Mrs. Lulu Cary Swick, wife of Mrs.
Ira W. Swick, of 1118 Niagara avenue,
died at the family home yesterday
afternoon, shortly after she had suffered
a heart attack. She was 88
years old.
Born In Lewiston, Mrs. Swick lived
In Wilson and Tonawanda before coming
to Niagara Falls many years ago.
She was a member of the board of
deaconesses of the First Congrega-
tional church and had a wife circle
of friends, among whom she was held
In high esteem. Besides her husband,
she Is survived by a daughter, Mrs.
Sybil Swick Simons, and a son, Harold
Swick, and several grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at the
family home at 2 p. m. Saturday.
Burial will be In North Ridge cemetery.

Wilson, Sept. 24.-Leander E . C a r e y
one of Wilson's best known fruit and
g a r d e n t r u c k f a rme r s , died a t a
Lockport hospital Thursday morning.
He was taken ill with appendicitis on
F r i d a y and was taken to the
tal on Saturday. An operation was
performed that afternoon but it was
found that the appendix had burst,
Hensuffered, great pain before the
end came. He was born In Lewiston
48 y e a r s ago a n d . c a m e to this town
to reside at the age of 15 years.
L a t e r he spent ten years in Niagara
F a l l s where he had a wide acquainta
n c e and the remainder of his life
was spent here. He was a member of
O n t a r i o Lodge No. 376, F. and A.
M. of this place, the Warren's Cor-
ners grange and the North Ridge
Methodist church. He was an active
Republican in politics and at the time
of his death inspector of election of
the second election district serving as
such at the county primaries held
September 13. Surviving are
and one son, Russell Carey, a n d
ono daughter. Luella Carey, both at
home: on sister, Mrs. I r a W. Swlck
of N i a g a r a Falls, a n d one half broth-

The funeral was held at the family
home on the Town Line road this
afternoon at 2 o'clock. Rev. Robert
H. F a i r b u r n of the Wilson Methodist
church officiating assisted by Rev.
A r t h u r Burko of the orth Ridge
Methodist church. The interment
was in o r t h Ridge cemetery.

Killed in Action
Looses Life in Naval Encounter
in South Pacific.

Robert Harold Swick, seaman,
first class, U. S. Navy, has been
killed In action In the South Paclfic.
his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harold I.
Swick, 1118 Niagara avenue, were
notified on Thursday in a telegram
which they received from the
Navy department at Washington,
D. C. The message stated that further
particulars would be forwarded
at an early date.
Seaman Swick was a graduate of
the LaSalle high school here with
the class of 1938. He attended Alfred
university for two years and
would have graduated this year. A
member of the Naval Reserve, he
was called into active service by
the government in April, 1940. An
ardent golfer, Seaman Swick was a
member of the Alfred university
golf team. He was Niagara Falls
junior city golf champion in 1938.
At Alfred he was a prominent member
of the Delta. Sigma Phi fraternity.

Surviving the young seaman, besides
his parents, are two brothers,
William and Donald, and two sisters,
Sally and Sue, all of this
city.

Eddy, to whom she was married 57 years.Predeceased by her daughter Robin Nobles(Terry). She is survived by her brother, Judge Richard D.(Essie) Simons;and by her daughters, Sandra (George) Hudler, Nancy(Edward) Parsons, Betsy Lewis;grandchildren, Scott (Stacy) Nobles,Kristen Nobles, Justin Patterson,Liz Hudler,Jen (Mike) Kwiatkowski,Heather Parsons, Luke (Beth) Parsons,Ian Lewis, Hayley (Dr. Nathan) Cary; 7 great grandchildren. After her husband came home from WW2, they raised their children in both Lewiston and Honeoye Falls. It was in East Bloomfield where they built their final home. Joan graduated from SUNY Geneseo with a B.A., Art History and MFA, Library Science.In 1988. She helped establish the East Bloomfield Library,retiring at 73. She was active in Garden Club, Historical Society, she enjoyed volunteering, bridge, Lake of the Woods, and helping raise her grandchildren. A memorial service will be held June 11 at 2pm at the United Methodist Church, East Bloomfield. The family appreciates your condolences. Donald Dane Swick

ROCHESTER — Donald Dane Swick, 64, son of Donald I. Swick (deceased) and Dorothy D. Swick of Niagara Falls, NY, died Sunday, June 16, 2013, at St. John's Home in Rochester, NY, after a long struggle with M.S.

Don is survived by his wife of 43 years, Kathryn (Smith); three children, Jennifer Werner, Eric Swick and Erin Marie Swick; and grandson, Austin Werner. He is also survived by three brothers, Daniel (JoAnn), Stephen (Margorie) and Harold; one sister, Susan (Dave) Ziemba and 11 nieces and nephews. Don was predeceased by a brother, Matthew Robert Swick.

Don was a 1966 graduate of LaSalle Senior High, a 1968 graduate of NCCC, and a 1970 graduate of Oklahoma State University.

A memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family in Rochester.

Matthew R. Swick. 14-month-old
son of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Swick,
b29 82nd St... died yesterday (Nov.
j 13 1955) in Memorial Hospital sev-
eral hours after being admitted. The
child's father said that an autopsy
revealed death resulted from pneu-
monia. He added that his son had
been able to pay on Friday and
apparently was in good health. First
indications of sickness were detected
Saturday he said.
Surviving besides the youngster's
parents are three brothers Daniel
Donald and Stephen Swick all liv-
ing at home, and grandparents,
Mr. and Mrs. Harold Swick and
Mrs. Ruth Dane, all of this city.
Funeral services will be held at
10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Lane
Funeral Home, the Rev. Alan J.
Perrine, pastor of Riverside Pres-
byterian Church, officiating. Bur-
ial will be in North Ridge Ceme-
tery.
