Buffalo NY Morning Express - 2/11/1916

Ernest Wolansky, 50 years old of
No. 309 Fredericka street, was pain-
fully injured this afternoon as the re-
sult of being run down by a Buffalo
bound trolley on the Falls branch of
the International ralway Wolansky
stepped from a Falls bound car and
is going around the rear walked di-
rectly in front of a rapidly approaching
northbound car. He was hurled into
a snowdrift beside the roadway. His
head was cut and ribs were broken.
He was removed to his home, where
Dr. C. T. Crance attended him.

Body of Joseph E Donner, 36,
who was drowned in the lower
Niagara river, near Lewiston a
week ago yesterday, while fish-
ing, was recovered last night,
about a quarter of a mile from
the spot where the tragedy oc-
curred.
The remains were brought to the
Hamp funeral home, 37 Adam
Street, today. Funeral services will
be held at 3:30 o'clock tomorrow
afternoon from the late residence
on Witmer road, town of Wheat-
field. Rev. Theophil Twente will
officiate. Burial will be in Elm-
lawn.
Surviving are his parents, Mr.
and Mrs. Lawrence W. Donner
with whom he resided; six broth-
ers, Henry of North Tonawanda,
Lawrence, Jr., Howard, Jacob,
Norman and Charles of town of
Wheatfield, and three sisters, Ruth
Donner of Wheatfield, Mrs. Mi-
chael Lester of Camden, N.J.
and Mrs. Frank Luescher of
North Tonawanda.
Albert Wolansky, 43, of 399
Fredericka street was with Don-
ner and was also drowned. His
funeral services were held yes-
terday.

Word was received here today
of the death of Ernest B. Wolansky,
37 years old, a former resident
of the Tonawandas, at his
home in Chicago, Saturday. He
was born in North Tonawanda.
He had resided In Chicago for the
past 10 years. He is survived by
his wife, Esther; two sons, Ernest,
Jr., and A. Nelson; a mother, Mrs.
Anna Stoecker, all of Chicago;
three brothers, Albert, Benjamin
and LeGrand, all of North Tonawanda,
and three sisters, Mrs. Ray
Smidth and Mrs. William Barrett,
North Tonawanda. and Mrs. Martin
Spencer, Buffalo. Mr. Wolansky
was a member of the Free and
Accepted Masons. Funeral will be
held tomorrow In Chicago.

Benjamin W. Wolansky, 69, of
39S4 Moyer Road, Town of
Wheatfield, died Sunday (Jan.
9, 1966) after suffering an
apparent heart attack while
walking in the woods in the
rear of his home. He was pronounced
dead on arrival at
DeGraff Memorial Hospital.
He was a lifelong resident
of the area and was formerly
employed as a custodian at|
the State Armory in Tonawanda,
retiring last October.
Mr. Wolansky served in the
Coast Guard during World
War II.
Survivors i n c l u d e his
widow, the former Florence
Fleichman; a daughter, Mrs.
Walter (Shirley) Baker. Tonawanda;
a son, Frank Gandt.

and 12 grandchildren.
Services will be conducted
at 1:30. p.m. Wednesday in
the Brunner Funeral Home,

Burial will be in St. Mathew's
Lutheran Cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 to
4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral
home.

Obituary of Jean D. Roberts
Jean D. Roberts passed away, peacefully, on Friday January 17th, 2020. Jean was born in Lockport NY on August 7th, 1929; the daughter of the late William and Hazel Barrett. She was a lifelong resident of Lockport.Jean worked many years at the local women’s department store L.L. Berger and anyone that knew her recognized her effortless flare for fashion. She dedicated her life to her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren whom she loved dearly. The “neighborhood mom” always welcomed everyone with open arms. She spent much time perfecting her beautiful flower gardens, bird watching on her back patio, reading, caring for her animals and always cheering on the Buffalo Bills. Jean is the mother of Jerry D. Roberts, Jeffery D. Roberts, Jill D. Roberts, Jamey D. (Teri) Roberts, Jason D. (Cheryl DiMatteo) Roberts; grandmother of Jenny R. Powers, Jeffery D. Roberts, Jamey D. Roberts, Jerrod (Catherine) Roberts, Janelle D. (Kevin ) Achtyl, Jace D. Roberts, Livia D. Roberts and Barrett D. Roberts; and 12 great grandchildren. Jean is the sister of Hugh (Shelby) Barrett, the late Sharon (Bill) Glenn and the late Jimmy Barrett. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. She will be sorely missed by her family and all who had the pleasure of knowing her. A celebration of life will be held at the convenience of the family. Baker, Jr., Danielle (Gino Saieva) Klepp and Brian Baker; grandfather of Dylan Eliseo Baker; son of the late Walter and Shirley Baker and brother of Carol (late Kenneth) Zuhr, Nancy (Peter) Schweigel, Walter (Denise) Baker, III and Barbara Zielen. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Robert was a 1977 graduate of Tonawanda High School and was an avid hunter. He had been employed by Erie County Water and Sewer Dept. for many years. There will be no prior visitation. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday July 22, 2021 at 11 AM in St. Francis of Assisi RC Church, 150 Broad Street in Tonawanda.
