    William C. Van Horn of Newfane, husband of the late Mary Helen Kraft Van Horn, entered into rest on Monday, April 21, 2014 at Odd Fellow and Rebekah Health Care Facility. William was born on January 24, 1922 in Plumville, PA, the son of the late Robert Lee and Mary E. Brown Van Horn.
    William married the love of his life, Mary, on May 17, 1946. They were married for 67 years. Helen passed away on August 23, 2013. After graduation from high school, he joined the Army Air Corps in 1940. He was a Staff Sergeant and in charge of the transportation units. He was at Hickam Field in Hawaii during WWII and was a Pearl Harbor Survivor. William also served over seas in France and Germany. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He shot his last deer in his 70's, hunting with his grandsons. Fishing was his greatest love. He would fish in the spring and catch rainbow trout and bring some to his doctor who loved them. During high school, he played basketball and received a few medals for doing so. He was employed at Hooker Chemical (now Oxy) in Niagara Falls, NY for 30 years, retiring in 1976 for health reasons. He and his wife spent many years living in Ocala, FL during the winter months.
    William was the sole surviving member of his family. He was predeceased by eight brothers and sisters, and six step-brothers and step-sisters. Father of William E. (Jane) Van Horn of Florida, Sharen L. (Gorden) Haseley of Lockport, Dennis E. (Donna) Van Horn of North Carolina, Deborah R. (James) Conlin of Newfane, Rodney R. (Anita) Van Horn of Montana and the late infant son, Jeffery Leroy. Also survived by eleven grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
    No prior visitation. A graveside service will be held in Niagara Falls Memorial Park Cemetery, 5871 Military Rd., Lewiston, NY 14092 on THURSDAY at 11 AM.

    Notes:

    Dennis Eugene VanHorn age 69 of Bethlehem, NC. passed away at his residence on Wednesday, May 8, 2019. Born to the late William and Mary Helen VanHorn. Dennis served in the U.S. Navy and was retired from General Motors auto industry. He was a very charismatic man, loved camping and hunting and believed in working hard.
    Along with his parents Dennis was preceded in death by his sister Deborah Conlin of Newfane NY.
    Those left to cherish his memories include his wife of 50 years Donna VanHorn, son Dennis VanHorn Jr. of St. Pete Florida, daughter Rebekah (Andrew) Monthony of Taylorsville, three grandchildren: Miranda (Donald) Nugent, Andrew Jr. and Alexis Monthony, brother, William VanHorn; and sister, Sharen (Gordan) Haseley.
    Inurnment will be with the family at a later date.
    Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Alexander Funeral and Cremation Service.

    Deborah R. (Van Horn) Conlin of Newfane, NY wife of James Conlin entered into rest on Sunday March 20, 2016 at Buffalo General Medical Center. She was born on November 11, 1951 in Niagara Falls, NY to the late William and Mary (Kraft) Van Horn. Deborah worked in the office at Newfane Rehabilitation and Heath Care Center. She enjoyed playing bingo and doing crafts. Deborah loved and enjoyed her family and her dog sidekick Sadie. Surviving include her children Christopher Claude of Wrights Corners and Keri (Patrick Barnum) Collins of Newfane. Brothers William (Jane) Van Horn of Florida, Dennis (Donna) Van Horn of North Carolina and Rodney (Anita) Van Horn of Montana; a sister Sharen (Gordon) Haseley of Lockport. Proud grandmother of Emily Claude, Cody Pierce and Chase Collins. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. Friends and Family are invited to attend a Memorial Service on Saturday March 26, 2016 at 11 AM at the Rutland-Corwin Funeral Home Inc. 2670 Main St. Newfane, NY 14108. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Niagara Hospice 4675 Sunset. Dr. Lockport, NY 14094.
