Complications arising from injuries in an auto accident
have proved fatal to Gilbert Johnston, 772 Ridge
Road, Lewiston, a foreman at Hooker Chemical Corp.
Mr. Johnston, 59, died in
Mount St. Mary's Hospital
Monday (Jan. 23, 1967). He was
injured on Jan. 13 in a two-car
accident at Military Road, just
south of Route 104, Town of
Lewiston.
Coroner Oscar H. Bell Jr.
said death was caused by complications
from Mr. Johnston's
injuries. At the time he was
listed as having sustained a
broken arm and broken ribs.
Driver of the car in which he
was a passenger was Lawrence
Martin, 998 Lockport-Youngstown
Road. Two others, including
the other driver, were injured.
Mr. Johnston had worked for
Hooker for the past 33 years.
He was a member of the Foreman's
Association at Hooker
and the LaSalle Sportsmen's
Club.
Mr. Johnston is survived by
his wife Gertrude; t h r ee
daughters, Miss Sally Ann
Johnston and Mrs. Nancy L.
Benson of Lewiston, and Mrs.
Thomas (Shirley) Stofer. of
Olean; one brother Edward
Johnston of Lewiston: and two
sisters, Mrs. Mabel Nickerson
of Lewiston and Mrs. Hazel
Pollock of Youngstown.
Funeral services will be held
Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at the
Lane Funeral Home, with Rev.
Paul Denise, of Lewiston Presbyterian
Church, officiating.
Burial will be in Memorial
Park Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral
home from 2 to 5 and
7 to 9 p.m.
