He lived in this village for the
lasj 18 years and was working for
the Bell Aircraft Corp. when he retired
nine years ago.
Surviving are his wife. Rose M.

NEWFANE — Bertha May Roberts, age 91, passed away Saturday, February 26, 2011 at the Newfane Rehabilitation and Health Care Center.

Bertha was born May 22, 1919 in the Town of Lewiston, the daughter of the late Charles and Carrie (Hillman) Ortt. She was preceded in death by her husband, Russell K. Roberts; a son, Keith Earl Roberts; and three brothers, Ronald Ortt, Donald Ortt and James Ortt.

She worked various occupations in Niagara County during her life. During WWII, she worked as an airplane assembler at Bell Aircraft, Niagara Falls, NY. She was a lifelong member of the Methodist Church of Pekin, NY and attended other Methodist churches in the area when Pekin closed.

Bertha is survived by her son, Dr. Kenneth Roberts (wife, Virginia) of Fayetteville, GA; two granddaughters, Cheryl A. Porter (husband, Fred), Newnan, GA, Christina L. Jones (husband, Bobby), Auburn, AL; and four great-grandchildren, Noah Jones, Shelby Porter, Jacob Jones and Anja Jones; two brothers, Gordon Ortt and Milford Ortt; four sisters, Annabelle DiNicolantonio, Charlotte Stoner DeLorenzo, Betty Tuttle, Carol Ann Brown and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Family and friends may call at HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, 3648 Ransomville Rd., Ransomville on Thursday from 3–7 PM. Funeral services will be held Friday, March 4 at 11:00 AM in the funeral home, with the Rev. Bobby Jones officiating. Burial will follow in North Ridge Cemetery, Church Rd., Town of Cambria. LOCKPORT — Loraine D. Bars, of Lockport, NY, passed away on Friday, March 9, 2012. Born on December 12, 1922 in the Town of Cambria, she was the daughter of Melvin and Doris Roberts Brewer. She was a homemaker and farmer's wife.

Mrs. Bars was predeceased by her husband, John Bars, Jr.; her son, James A. Bars and two grandchildren, Jonathan Bars and Angela Sevenski. She is survived by her daughter, Donna Valley; grandchildren, Michael (Darlene) Valley, Michele (Kurt) Johnson, James (Karen) Bars and Jennifer Bars; 10 great-grandchildren and two great-great- grandchildren.

LEWISTON — Howard Richard “Dickie” Barrand, 83, of Niagara Falls, NY, died on Sunday, September 18, 2011, at Our Lady of Peace Nursing Care Residence in Lewiston, NY. Born in Pekin, NY, he was the son of the late William and Maude (Roberts) Barrand.

Dickie, as he was known to everyone, was a lifelong resident of the Niagara Falls area and attended local schools. He married Mary (Puia) Barrand at Epiphany Episcopal Church in Niagara Falls, NY on August 19, 1949. Mrs. Barrand predeceased him on February 11, 2001. He was employed as a truck driver at Spina Construction and later at Sevenson, and retired after 40 years of service. Dickie was very devoted to his church and in his leisure time he enjoyed hunting.

Mr. Barrand is survived by his caring daughters, Rose Marie Barrand and Barbara Barrand, both of Niagara Falls, NY; his sister, Geraldine (Jack) Rogers of Austin, TX; his brother, Robert (Gail) Barrand of Pekin, NY; and was Poppy to his adored dogs, Mini Spitfire and Peanut. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, William (Ruth of North Tonawanda, NY) Barrand, Jr. and Gordon Barrand.

Visitation will be on Wednesday from 3–8 PM at the M.J.COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY, where funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 22nd at 11:00 AM, with Rev. Joseph Whitman officiating. Interment in Memorial Park Cemetery, Lewiston, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Greater Niagara Falls Church of God, 2334 Lockport Rd., Sanborn, NY 14132.
