    Welch, 66 years old, 404 Fletcher
    street, a life-long resident of Tonawanda,
    died Tuesday night at the
    Deaconess hospital. Buffalo. He
    was taken to the hospital a week ago
    for an operation. He was a member
    of Niagara' River Lodge, I. O.
    O. F. Surviving are a son, Henry;
    two daughters. Mrs. LeRoy P. Lockman
    and Mrs. Raymond Grofenberg:
    a sister, Mrs, Louise Summers, and
    two brothers. John, all of Tonawanda.
    and Louis, Erie. Pa. The
    fnneral will be held Friday afternoon
    at 2:30 o'clock at the residence.

    as a fireman aboard the tug Georgia
    in Buffalo this morning. Charles
    Welch. 58. of 392 Fletcher street,
    died later despite the efforts of
    coast guardsmen to revive him.
    Mr. Welch was a lifelong resident
    of this city and a member of the
    Union Hook and Ladder company
    and the Tugmen's. Firemen's and
    Linemen's Protective association,
    He had been employed by the Hand
    and Johnson Tug Lines in Buffalo
    the last four years as a tug fireman.
    Prior to that he worked on the
    steamer Niagara owned and operated
    by the Gravels Products company,
    of this city. Before that he
    was employed as an engineer by
    the International Paper company.
    He is survived by his wife. Mrs.
    Welch, at homeF(sic)
    Lona Welch: two sons. Frank: L.
    Welch, with the U. S. Navy in England,
    and Patrick Welch, U.S.S.
    Missouri, and two daughters. Mrs.

    KENMORE — Shirley E. (nee Welch) Montei, age 88, of the City of Tonawanda, Friday, November 23, 2012, at Kenmore Mercy Hospital, under the care of Hospice. A lifelong resident of Tonawanda, she was the wife of the late Allan B. Montei and mother of the late William A. Montei. Shirley was a lifelong member of St. Francis of Assisi Parish and had been employed by Spaulding Fibre Co. for 42 years.

    She was a dear mother of Linda Volmrich of North Tonawanda; devoted grandmother of Alyssa and Evan Volmrich; and loving sister of Joan (the late Edward) Tucker of Medford, PA; and the late Evelyn (late Jess) Parkinson, Alice (late William) Mazuer, Kathleen Godfrey, Vince (late Ruth) and Duke (late Lorraine) Welch. Dear aunt of many loving nieces and nephews.

    There will be no prior visitation. A private burial will be in Elmlawn Cemetery. A memorial Mass will be celebrated at a later date to be announced. If desired, memorials may be made to Hospice Buffalo. Arrangements by John O. Roth Funeral Home, Inc., Tonawanda, NY.

    KENMORE — Frank S. Sommers, age 79, of the Town of Tonawanda and formerly of the City of Tonawanda, Sunday, November 25, 2012, at Kenmore Mercy Hospital. A lifelong resident of the Tonawandas, he was the son of the late John and Laura Sommers; brother of the late Josephine, Harry, Leo, Leonard and Irene; and brother-in-law of the late Dorothy (the late Philip) Krueger. "Captain Frank" was a 1952 graduate of Tonawanda High School where he excelled in basketball. He was voted Captain of the Niagara Frontier All Star Basketball Team in 1952. He was also a US Army veteran serving during the Korean War. Frank owned and operated Frank's Barber Shop on Young Street in Tonawanda for 30 years. He was also employed by Consolidated Freightways for 20 years. He was a member of St. Amelia RC Church, St. Benedict's Senior Group, Amherst Senior Center, a former member of the Eldredge Club, a softball player for many years and an avid gardener. He loved to travel with his wife, Theresa, and you would often see him driving around town with his pal, Jiggs.

    He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Theresa E. (nee Ganster) Sommers; six children, Sandra (Ronald) Butticci of North Tonawanda; Steven Sommers of Tonawanda; Andrew (Ann)) Sommers of Amherst; Theresa (Carl) Bogdan of Lockport; Julie (John) Lunghino of Amherst; and Margaret (James) Higgins of Lockport; 11 grandchildren, Eric, Lindsay, Crosby, Danielle, Kevin, Keith, Katelyn, Chelsie, Paige, Anthony and Cameron; and two great-granddaughters, Ani and Emma; his sister-in-law, Rosemary (Dr. Dennis) Heimbach of Williamsville; and his brother-in-law, Edward (Carol) Ganster of Tonawanda. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.

    Friends may call Wednesday from 2-4 & 6-8 PM at John O. Roth Funeral Home, Inc., 25 William St. (between Morgan & Broad Sts.), in Tonawanda. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday at 11:30 AM in St. Amelia R.C. Church, 2999 Eggert Rd., in the Town of Tonawanda. Friends invited. The Rev. Msgr. Thomas F. Maloney will officiate. A private entombment will be in St. Francis of Assisi Chapel Columbarium.     She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Gerard “Jerry” Davis, of West End; daughter, Janel Anderson and her husband, Jeffrey Anderson, of Winston-Salem; son, Matthew Davis and his wife, Ashley Davis, of West End; sister, Sandra “Sandy” Tortorete and her husband, Charles “Chuck” Tortorete, of Lady Lakes, Fla.; and three beautiful grandchildren.
    A private service will be held Saturday, Aug. 24, at 4 p.m. in West End.
