LOCKPORT — Lewis John Wittcop passed away May 2, 2012, under the care of Niagara Hospice. Born January 6, 1927 in Gasport, he was the son of John William and Estelle Rose (Maynard) Wittcop. Lewis entered the US Army on April 27, 1945, and was honorably discharged as a Sergeant on December 8, 1946, with the 313th Company C Engineer Combat Battalion stationed in Europe during WWII. Lewis was employed with Harrison Radiator where he was a truck driver, and retired in 1975 after 31 years. He was a member of the Hartland United Methodist Church, joining in 1962 to present; member of the Gasport American Legion Post 1253, Hartland Conservation Club and a member of ABC American Bowling Congress. Lewis enjoyed fishing, was an avid local sports fan, bowling and was a John Deere Collector.

Lewis is survived by his wife, Jean (Bedford) Wittcop of Hartland; father of Terrance Wittcop (Judy) of Hickory, NC, Norma Sturtevant (Steven) of Lockport, Elizabeth Seib of Newfane, Laura Werth (John) of Medina, Rodger Wittcop (Carol) of Lockport, Denise Caton of Gasport, Roseann Heitzenrater (Joseph), Brian Wittcop (Sarah) of Gasport, and the late Cheryl Feuersanger (Johann) of Lockport; grandfather of 27 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; very dear nephew, Christopher Wittcop of Gasport; last survivor of thirteen siblings.

Wittcop and her soulmate Charles Pomeroy.
Geraldine is survived by her children Virginia (Ronald) Zimmerman, Dana (Joann) Wittcop, Kim (Susan) Wittcop , Sr., and Tammy (Richard) Groff; grandmother of Kelley, Matt, Brandon, Justin, Jordan, Kim Jr., April, Tonisha, Nick, Nathan, and late Tara and Ryan; great grandmother of sixteen; sister of Linda (Bill) Vincent and Dale (Janet) Dunkelberger; also several nieces and nephews.  She was also predeceased by her step-siblings Howard, William Dunkelberger, and Sharon Schultz.

Suzanne is survived by her children Belinda (Gareth) Pichey and Duane (Dorothee) Duxbury; grandchildren Ashley Daniels, Brianna (Jordon) Doehrmann, Kimberly Duxbury, and Jeremy Duxbury; great grandchildren Tristen Blakley, Alphonse Blakley, and Caroline Doehrmann; siblings Frederick Dold, Sandy Toenniessen, Alice (Mark) Phonner, Arlene Dold, and Nancy Arkland; also companion Mario Pellicano and several nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by her siblings Esther Barnes, Gordon Dold, Jane Demmin, Harold Dold, and Billy Dold.

WILSON, Oct. 22 - One Wilson driver was killed and
another seriously injured at 12:15- a.m. today in a headon col-.
lision in Lake St., near the Duxbury Farm. '
Gordon Frank Dold, 25, of Ide Rd., was pronounced dead on arrival at Ransomville General Hospital. Coroner F.
Eugene Ingram, Niagara Falls, said Dold suffered a fractured
neck, fractured ribs, a fractured jaw and internal injuries.
John R. Schoonmaker. 40, of 182
Franklin St.. was admitted to Ransomville
Hospital with fractured
ribs, multiple lacerations on the
face and legs, a fractured left ankle
and possible fractured spine.
50-fool Skid Marks
Mr. Schoonmaker told sheriffs
deputies he was traveling north in
Lake St. and saw the Dold car
coming south but could not avoid
being hit. Deputies said marks on
the highway show the Schoonmaker
car skidded about 50 feet along the
east side of the highway with the
right wheel at the edge of the highway
and partly on the shoulder.
There were no skid marks from
the other car. Both cars were demolished.
The two men were taken to the
hospital in the Wilson Fire Department
ambulance by Kenneth Tracey
and Donald Flagler of Wilson.
The accident was investigated by
Set. Robert Andrews and Deputies
Ciyde Doty. William Munch and
Stanley Dotmki of the sheriffs department.
A veteran of the Korean War,
Mr. Dold was born April 24. 1930.
in the Town of Royalton. son of
Frank and Clara Wittcopp Dold. He
was graduated from Lockport High
School.
World War II Vet
Mr. Dold was employed about
three months at Harrison Radiator
Division of General Motors Corp
before entering the armed forces in
1950 and returned to work there
when he was discharged from mili-
tary service in 1953.
Mr. Dold served in the Air Force
in Korea as an airman second class.
He was a member of the First Pres-
byterian Church, Lockport.
In addition to his parents, he is
survived by seven sisters, Esther,
Elizabeth, Nancy, Arlene, Suzanne,
Alice and Sandra, all of Wilson, and
four brothers, Victor, Franklin and
Frederick of Wilson and Charles

LOCKPORT — Franklin H. Dold passed away unexpectedly February 1, 2014. Born January 30, 1935 in Lockport, he was the son of the late Victor Franklin and Clara May (Wittcop) Dold. Franklin was a steel worker at Simonds Saw and Steel after its closure. He finished his working career at Frontier Stone, now LaFarge. He enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting and anything to do with the outdoors. He also enjoyed family drives and spending time with his family and grandchildren.

Franklin was the husband of the late Beverly Harding Dold. She passed away December 20, 1998. He was the father of Linda (Ron) Sementelli of Lockport, Clara LaRock of Lockport, Marilyn Meyer of Olcott, Gene (Sonya) Dold, Myra (Russ) Bratt, both of Pendleton, Joleen (Michael) Sommers of North Tonawanda, and the late Deborah, William and Charles Dold; grandfather of 11 and great-grandfather of three. Franklin was also the brother of Nancy (the late David) Arkland, Jane (the late John) Demmin, Arlene Dold, Sandra (the late Rodney) Toenniessen, Susan Wheeler, Alice (Mark) Pfonner, Fred (Jessie) Dold, and the late Victor Dold, Esther Arkland and Gordon Dold; brother-in-law of Judy Dold and Allan Barnes. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.

Dennis Joseph Filipovich passed away August 20, 2018.  Born July 15, 1951 in Lockport he was the son of the late Andrew G. and Kathryn R. (Wittcop) Filipovich.  Dennis worked in building maintenance for various local companies. He was an avid sportsman, loved his cars, and fished until the end. 
Dennis is survived by his wife Sandra (Wheeler); father of Mark, Brian (Kristy), Stephanie (Ricky) Paine, Michele Cook, and step-son Bryan Wheeler; siblings Linda (John) Sullivan, Daniel, and late Andrew “Steve”, Michael, and Patrick; grandfather of Natalie Gilland, Zane, Joshua, Dillion, Walker, Amelia, Ashton Filipovich, Courtney, Lauren Paine, Wyatt Cook, and late Stone Filipovich; three great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, and friends.

LOCKPORT — Andrew S. Filipovich entered into rest Thursday, April 19, 2012, at Eastern Niagara Hospital, Lockport, after a lengthy illness. Born April 11, 1944, he was the son of Andrew G. Filipovich and Kathryn Wittcop Filipovich. Andrew, known as "Moose" by all who knew him, served in the US Army and worked 30 years at Harrison Radiator, where he retired in 1987. He was best known for being an avid outdoorsman. He loved traveling about the country fishing and hunting. "Moose" had an immense passion for duck hunting and Labrador retrievers. He was also a Harley Davidson enthusiast and enjoyed riding and hanging out with friends. A charismatic, fun, loving man, "Moose" will most be remembered for living life at full throttle and making life an adventure. Our lives were enhanced by having him with us.

Beloved husband to Robin Wass Filipovich; father of Dawn (Joe) Fonzi and Shelly Sherman; cherished grandfather of Morgan Fonzi and Ryan Fonzi; brother of Michael Filipovich, Dennis (Sandy) Filipovich, Daniel Filipovich, Patrick (Sandy) Filipovich and Linda (John) Sullivan; also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Walter Ernest Wittcop entered into rest on February 1st, 2020. Born December 13th, 1956 son of Grace Ann McPhail and the late Wilfred R. Wittcop Sr.
He is survived by his loving wife Kathryn (nee Pettigrew), his children David Pettigrew, and Johnathan Pettigrew (Jennifer). Grandfather of Christopher and Jesica. Dear brother of William, Wilfred (Denise Swanson), Warren, and Wesley (Rhonda) Wittcop, Heather (David) Chambers, and Holly Howland. Uncle of 24 nieces and nephews plus many great-nieces and nephews.
Friends and family may gather in Walter’s Memory Saturday, February 8th at Hess Road Wesleyan Church, 2514 Hess Rd, Appleton, NY 14008 at 11:00 am. Following the services, a luncheon will be held at the church. Flowers greatly accepted and expressions of sympathy may be made to the family.

Death in Crib, Probe On
LOCKPORT - Sheriffs deputies today were investigating the death of a 4-month-old Town of Lockport infant who apparently suffocated during the night. William Harold Dold, son of Mr. and Mrs. Franklin Dold, 6717 Crosby Road, was discovered dead about 8:15 a.m. today in his crib by Mrs. Dold. The Sheriff's Department said the Dolds had a child who died a year ago "under similar circumstances." Criminal Deputies Rudolph Ziehm, John Cole and Coroner Dr. George V. Muscato Jr. were continuing investigation today at Lockport Memorial Hospital. The infant was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital after being rushed there in an ambulance. Deputies said Mrs. Dold discovered the infant covered with blankets in his crib this morning. She said the infant was all right at 2:30 a.m. today. When she noticed the boy wasn't breathing, she summoned Mr. Dold, deputies said. Mr. Dold attempted to revive the infant by mouth to mouth rescuscitation but was unsuccessful, deputies report.

Obituary of Michael A. Filipovich, Jr.

On Saturday June 5th 2021 our family found the beautiful soul of Michael Anthony Filipovich Jr better known as Flip on his first fishing trip in Heaven with the Lord as his captain. Mike is survived by his wife Donna along with his son Joshua Bachman and Lauren Rose grandchildren Lijah,Gracelynn, Valin and Silas. Also his son Nicholas and wife Justine Bachman. Brother to Christine Shanks and Mary and David Edmister. Wonderful uncle to many nieces and nephews.  Mike was a lover of life from his family to fishing, to the beautiful Outdoors, to fishing, overnight camping, to fishing, fast cars and dirt tracks and back to fishing. His heart was huge and helpful and in his own special way .He will be remembered forever in our hearts. John F. Sullivan Jr., passed away on Saturday April 1, 2023.  Born in Lockport on June 3, 1950, he was the son of the late John F. Sr. and Dorothy L. Woolston Sullivan.  He retired from the Lockport Housing Authority in 2005 after working for 25 years as a Maintenance Engineer.  John enjoyed fishing, hunting and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.  He is predeceased by his wife Linda (Filipovich) Sullivan who passed away on July 6, 2022.
John is survived by his children Jayson (Stacey) Sullivan and Cassandra Pelletier and his five grandchildren.  He was the brother of Linda (James) Lee, Patricia (Thomas) Russell, David (Debbie) Sullivan and Daniel (late Laura) Sullivan.  He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Mellissa A. Walker passed away October 30, 2021.  Born January 13, 1989 in Lockport she is the daughter of George Walker and Mary (David) Filipovich Edmister.  Mellissa enjoyed being outdoors, and riding 4 wheelers and snowmobiles.
Besides her parents and step-father Mellissa is survived by her four children Dakoda Nathan, Lillyjen, Annabell Lynn, and Marygrace; and also her sister Madison Edmister.
