WILSON — Ruth Caroline Shaffer, 89, died peacefully on Monday, November 21, 2011 at Viera Hospital. She was born on May 1, 1922 in Newfane, NY, to Walter M. and Lena (Donner) Rohring.



Ruth grew up on farms in Wilson, NY. After graduation from high school, she worked at Moore Business Forms in Niagara Falls. She served in the Women's Army Corps from 1945 to 1946 working in hospitals. On July 12, 1947 she married James C. Shaffer. They spent most of their life in Lewiston, NY. Ruth continued her education after starting a family. She graduated from Trott Vocational High School's practical nursing program and then worked as an LPN at Niagara Falls Memorial Hospital until retirement. She was a member of the former Hope Lutheran Church, Town of Niagara and its Ladies Guild. In 1993, she and her husband moved to Melbourne, FL. In Florida she did respite volunteer work and enjoyed making crafts at Lutheran Church of the Redeemer where she was a member.



Ruth is survived by her devoted family, including husband, James Shaffer; daughter Barbara of Arizona, Daughter Diane (Bernard) of California; son, Gary (Jane) of Maine; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; also survived by brothers, Donald of Largo, FL and Allen (Anne) of Wilson, NY; as well as several cousins, nieces and nephews. Ruth leaves behind special friends, Jeanette Kroening and Huguette Pyska. She was predeceased by her parents; her brother, Walter; and great-granddaughter, Lyla Pyska.



There will be a visitation from 2-3 PM on Sunday, November 27th at Florida Memorial Funeral Home, where a funeral service will begin at 3 PM in the chapel. Entombment will be at Florida Memorial Gardens. Donald "Matt" was an Army Veteran serving at the end of World War II. Retiring from General Motors in the early 1970's with 25 years of service, he and his wife spent winters in Florida and summers in Wilson, NY.
Donald was predeceased by his wife, Jean (McIntyre); siblings, Ruth (Schaffer), Walter, and Allen; son, Kevin; and granddaughter, Jennifer (Cirrito). He is survived by sons, Terry (Joyce) and David (Nancy); grandson, Matthew (Amy); and great-grandchildren, Taylor, Aidan, and Lachlan.

Home at last. He has now met his wonderful Savior, Jesus, face to face. His greatest hope would be that you also would see Him face to face in Heaven.

Eighty-eight full years of being a farmer, United States Marine, business owner, 40 years as a Gideon, member of First Baptist Church in Wilson, and someone who never retired. That is the legacy that Allen Rohring left to us. He was a man of faith who loved his Lord, his family, those in jail and those in need. His acts of generosity will be remembered and carried on for generations to come. One of his favorite Bible verses was Ephesians 2:8-9: “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith-and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God-not by works, so that no one can boast.”

He will be missed but never forgotten by his family: precious wife of 65 years, Anne (Goodman) and children Peter (Lezlee), Thomas (Janell), JoAnne Bradford (Bud), Jeffrey (Janet), Rodney (Ann) and Steven (Laura), as well as 13 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

23, who was found dead Sunday
in the dining room of
his home at 464 Lake St.

Willis C. Strickland issued the
certificate.
Rohring was found at 1 p.m.
by a cousin. C o r o n er
Strickland said he was found
lying on the dining room
floor. A shot gun was found
nearby.
Born in Lockport, the son
of Donald and Jean Mclntyre
Rohring, he had been a student
in the Wilson Central
School, systems.
He was a member of the
U.S. Marine Corps from 1967
to Febrcary of this year
serving a tour of chity in
Vietnam. Mr. Rohring was an
employe of Harrison Radiator
Inc. in Lockpoet.
Surviving in addition to his
parents are two brothers,
Terry Rohring of Ransomville
and David Rohring serving
with the Armed Forces in
Korea; his m a t e r n al
grandparents, Mr. and Mrs.
Richard Mclntyre of Lockport
and his paternal grandfather,
Walter Rohring of Gasport. .
Funeral services will be
held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at
the Hamilton and C l a rk
Funeral Home with the Rev.
Gordon Loomis officiating.
Burial will be in Glenwood
Cemetery, Lockport.

funeral home today from 7
to 9 p.m. and Tuesday from
2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Obituary of Eric M. Rohring
Eric M. “Rick” Rohring, age 70, of Ransomville passed away on Wednesday, June 15, 2022, at home under the care of Niagara Hospice. Rick was born on November 8, 1951, in Niagara Falls, NY. He is the son of the late Walter G. and the late Lorraine (Shortz) Rohring Jr. He graduated from Lew-Port CSD class of 1969. In December of 1969 he completed a vocational trade program as a service station auto mechanic. He married Charlene Shook on December 4, 1971. In 1982 Rick joined the Ironworkers apprenticeship program with the Ironworkers Union LOCAL # 9 of Niagara Falls, NY accomplishing 40 years of service. Rick owned and operated a 50-acre farm in Ransomville raising beef cattle and vegetable crops for 35 plus years with his wife.Surviving is his wife of 50 years, Charlene; his sisters, Carolyn Rohring, Bonnie Rohring and Karen Kobel; Nephews; Chris Burek, Eric Freberg, Jason Freberg, Shawn Tussing; Niece, Jennifer (Tim) Bagovich; Great Nephews, Andrew and Matthew Bagovich; a brother-in-law, William P. Shook and sister-in-law, Nancy Shook, also many other relatives and numerous friends.The family wishes to thank Niagara Hospice, special Thank You to nurses Jody and Molly and his private nurse and dear family friend Kathy Basile RN.A celebration of life will be held in the near future for immediate friends and family. Jennifer was a longtime employee of Newfane Rehabilitation and Health Center. Jennifer was a creative person with a talent for art. Jennifer was a natural nurturer and helper of others.
