J. Whitney Vogt, 72, a member of
one of the pioneer families of this
city and a former resident here, died
late yesterday at the Buffalo Veterans
hospital.
Funeral services for Mr. Vogt will
be held at the Cornell and Daggett
Funeral chapel at 2 p. m., Friday.
Friends may call after 1 p. m., tomorrow.
Born in this city, Mr. Vogt was the
son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Jacob
B. Vogt. He was formerly in the
garage and souvenir business in
this city.
He was a member of the old
Forty-second Separate company,
New York National guard. He
served with the army during the
Mexican border campaign in 1916.
During World War 1 he served
overseas with the 108th Infantry
regiment, Twenty-seventh division,
and was promoted to the grade of
First Lieutenant. A member of the
Order of The Purple Heart, Mr.
Vogt saw action on the Hlndenburg
line and throughout France. He
was the last remaining officer of
company E, 108th regiment.
Surviving are his wife, Maude
Clifton Vogt, Buffalo: a son, Clifton
W. Vogt, Albany; a daughter, Maude
Elizabeth. Tucson, Arz; two sisters,
Mrs. Fred M. Ackerson, this city,
Mrs. Charles Welch, Sarasota, Fla.;
two brothers, Dr. Clarence Vogt,
Brooklyn, and Charles W Vogt,
Tampa, Fla.. and one grandchild.
Burial will be in Riverdale cemetery.
Jacob married CLIFTON, Maude on 14 Aug 1902 in Tonawanda, Erie County, NY. Maude was born about 1884 in Niagara Falls, Niagara County, NY; died on 1 Feb 1962 in Tucson, Pima County, AZ. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]
