LOCKPORT - A 76-year old
Lockport native died
Saturday (July 17. 1965) at
Memorial Hospital after a
10-day illness.
He was John Zapp Sr.,
of 372 Walnut St., a retired
employe of the Harrison
Radiator Division of General
Motors.
Prior to his employment
at Harrison, he worked for
the Western Block Co. and
had been a salesman of
household products.
He was a member of the
Holy Name Society of St.
John's Church.
He was the husband of
the late Frances E. Moran
Zapp.
Surviving are three sons,
Rernard and John Zapp
Jr.. both of Lockport. and
Harold Zapp. of Ridgewood;
two d a u g h t e r s , Mrs.
Richard Brauer and Mrs.
Carlos Glenna. both of
Lockport: a sister, Mrs.
Myron Sandford. and two
brothers. Leo and George
Zapp, all of Lockport, and
13 grandchildren.
Funeral services will be
held at 8:30 am. Wednesday
at the Kennedy Funeral
Home and at A a.m. al St.
John's Church,
Rurial will be. In St.'
Patrick's Cemetery.
Friends may call from 2
to 5 p.m. and from 7 to 9
p.m. Monday and Tuesday.

Bernard W. Zapp

LOCKPORT — Bernard W. Zapp passed away, unexpectedly, September 20, 2011 in Eastern Niagara Hospital, Lockport. Born August 23, 1925 in Lockport, he was the son of John and Frances (Moran) Zapp. Bernard served in the US Navy from 1942 to 1946 on the USS Lacerta, where he was a radio operator. Upon returning from service he went to work and retired from Harrison Radiator, Div. of G.M. Bernard was a member of the VFW Post 2535 and enjoyed visiting family and friends, hunting, fishing, camping and sports. He was predeceased by his wife, Eleanor (Spade) Zapp on October 7, 2003; and his son, Timothy Zapp on July 9, 2011.

Bernard is survived by his two sons, Terry (Fukumi) Zapp of Arizona and Michael (Christine) Zapp of Lockport; father-in-law of Karen Zapp of Newfane; brother of Jean (late Richard) Brauer and the late John Zapp, Harold Zapp and Rosemary Glena; also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends may call Friday 2-4 and 7-9 PM in Prudden & Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee St., Lockport, where funeral services will be held Saturday at 10 AM. Interment will be in Cold Spring Cemetery.

Jean Frances Brauer

LOCKPORT — Jean Brauer, 85, of Lockport, entered into rest on April 12, 2013, after a brief stay at the very caring Niagara Hospice. Born in Lockport, NY, she was the daughter of the late John and Frances (Moran) Zapp. She was predeceased by her four siblings, Harold Zapp, Bernard Zapp, Rosemary Glena and John Zapp.

She was a beautiful, kind, giving, frugal woman who dedicated most of her life to her late husband of 61 years, Richard Harold Brauer. She loved spending time with their five children, 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. She belonged to St. Mary's and St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Churches. She was a member of the Lockport Hospital Guild, Gathering Gals Bridge Club and Newfane Senior Citizens Golden Age Club. Jean was a great bid Pitch player, square dancer, excellent cook and loved canning fresh vegetables and fruit. Jean worked at the old Norway as a cashier, in the office of Bells IGA and Niagara Auto Body Shop, and various jobs at the Union-Sun & Journal.

Jean is survived by her five children, Larry (Jackie) Brauer, Jeannine (John) Benoit of Lockport, Alan (Beverly) Brauer of South Carolina, Janet (Ted) Dudley and David (Sonya) Brauer, who both reside in Florida.

Friends and family may call from 4-7 PM at Prudden and Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee Street, in Lockport on Monday, April 15th. A memorial service will be held for all Tuesday, April 16th at 10 AM, at the funeral home, followed by a burial service at Glenwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lockport Presbyterian Home or Hospice of Niagara County.

Katherine L. Zapp Of Newfane, NY entered into rest Monday, December 22, 2014 in Eastern Niagara Hospital Lockport, NY. She was born in Lockport, NY, May 27, 1959, the daughter of the late Harold and Rose Rathke Zapp. Katherine worked at Newfane Health Care Facility as a Nurse’s Aide for 20 years. She has lived in Newfane all her life, a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Ridgewood and the Ladies Aid Society at Church. Katherine enjoyed trips to the Amish country in PA and was known on her John Deere Tractor mowing her lawn and the neighbors. Sister of Daniel (Gretchen) Zapp of Lockport, NY and William Zapp of Newfane, NY. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. Friends may call at the RUTLAND-CORWIN FUNERAL HOME, INC. 2670 Main St. Newfane, NY FRIDAY 3-7 PM. Funeral Services will be held SATURDAY at 10:30 AM at Immanuel Lutheran Church 7147 Ridge Road Lockport, NY. Burial will be in Wrights Corners Cemetery. LOCKPORT — Timothy W. Zapp passed away, unexpectedly, into eternal rest July 9, 2011. Born on December 13, 1953 in Lockport, he was the son of Bernard Zapp and the late Eleanor (Spade) Zapp. Tim worked as a laborer for Stedman Old Farm Nurseries.

Besides his father, Bernard Zapp he is survived by his wife, Karyn Zapp; step-sons, Kenneth D. and Paul S. Aikin, both of Newfane; and was the brother of Terry (Fukumi) Zapp of Arizona and Michael (Christine) Zapp of Lockport.

Relatives and friends may call on Tuesday from 4-8 PM at Prudden and Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee Street, Lockport, where funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 13, 2011 at 10 AM. Interment will be in Cold Spring Cemetery.
