Obituary of Mary L. Norman
Mary L. Norman 95 of Niagara Falls, NY passed away on Monday, May 16, 2022 at Schoellkopf Health Center. Born in Niagara Falls on March 27, 1927 she was the daughter of the late Monte McArthur and Martha Elsie (Zieger) Beahen. Mary worked the "victory shift" from 4-9PM at Shredded Wheat while attending Trott. In 1945 she started working at Carborundum, before getting married in 1946 in Erie PA, and then worked as an office worker for Hooker/Oxy. After her son Gary was born, she worked at Fannie Farmer and had a night job at Neisners. When her mother got sick, she moved back home to take care of her, and ran a boarding house that at one time had 27 boarders. After the boarding house she went to work at National Carbon, until she had her daughter Deb. She started working again at Carborundum, before she had her son Ricky. After all the kids were older Mary kept busy with multiple jobs including a teletype operator, teacher, teacher's aide, cashier, and finally a bartender at the VFW until she retired. She is survived her daughters, Deborah (Edward) Battaglia, Tina (Robert) Reynolds and Luann Miller; sons, Douglas Norman, and John Donavon; as well as many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her sons, Gary (Peggy) Norman, and Ricky Norman; brothers, Montie (Jean) Beahen, Philip George (Collette) Beahen, and Thomas (Peggy) Beahen; and sisters, Irene (Anthoni) Gabrielli, and Betty (John) Hotchkiss.Friends may call on Tuesday, May 24 from 4-7PM at Zajac Funeral Home Inc., 319 24th Street cor. of Welch Ave, Niagara Falls, NY where funeral services will begin at 6:30PM. Burial will take place at the convenience of the family.
