Eleanor Mary (Lally) Hager, 95, born January 12, 1922, married July 25, 1941, passed away at home in Niagara Falls, NY on July 6, 2017. She attended local schools and graduated from Niagara Falls High in 1941. She retired from Kmart in 1987. Eleanor was the last of ten children of the late, Frank and Maud (Miller) Lally.
She was a stay at home mom who took in ironing and seamstress work, then went to work when her 2 children were in high school. She made all of her daughters and many of her sons clothing throughout their school years. She created their Halloween costumes each year that sometimes won first prize. She made beautiful ballroom gowns and wedding dresses as well as knitted baby items. Her paintings are on display at her daughter's home. She donated many crotchet and sewing items to worthy causes. She was a multi-talented artist, athlete, seamstress, and bookkeeper. She loved to teach family and friends arts and crafts. Her many afghans warm the beds of loved ones and her artwork hangs in their homes each holiday. She was generous, big hearted and will long be remembered.
She was predeceased by her loving husband of 65 years, David S. Hager Sr., who passed December 24, 2006, and her son David S. Hager Jr. who passed July 10, 2002.
She had a good life and was delighted by, and often laughed with, her loving family.
Eleanor is survived by her loving daughter Beverly Sajdak of Niagara Falls, and 3 generations of many nieces and nephews; 3 grandchildren, David Sajdak, Kathleen (Ryan) Wiepert, and Athena D (Hager) Legace; 9 great-grandchildren, Ashley and David Sajdak Jr., Anthony Giannone, Brook and Andrew Woods, Elaina and Myleigh Legace, and Branden and Cameron Wiepert.
Each day she enjoyed reading her paper, completing the crossword and celebrity cipher. She kept in touch with many nieces and nephews living around the country with letters, cards, phone calls, and often sent newspaper articles to keep them up to date. She enjoyed talking with her friends. She kept track of everyone's birthday, anniversaries, graduations, and special occasions and sent many cards of congratulations.
The family wishes to thank the many family and friends who kept her happy with visits, phone calls, letters, and cards. She will be dearly missed. We love her so.
