    fruit grower, real estate broker and former peace
    justice here, died at Inter-Community Memorial hospital,
    Newfane on Thursday (May 25, 1967) after a
    short illness.
    Mr. Swick was born in Wilson,
    Jan. 8, 1886 and attended local
    schools. He also attended Cornell

    Inc. of Buffalo. He was past
    director of the New. York-New
    England Apple Institute. He also
    served as president of the Ni*
    agara County Farm and Homebuilders
    and 4-H Club Organization.
    He was president of the Niag-*
    ara County Peach Growers Association.
    In 1958, Mr. Swick
    received the Acme Nu-Way
    Markets Award as the "outstanding
    grower of the Niagara
    Frontier." He also was active
    in civic and religious affairs.

    He was a member of the Wilson
    Planning Board and a director
    of the North Ridge Cemetery
    Association. He was past
    president and an active member
    of the Wilson Lions Club for
    2? years. He was an active member
    of the First Baptist Church
    of Wilson where he served as
    deacon.
    In addition to his wife he is
    survived by a son, Ronald W,
    Swick of Wilson; two daughters,
    Mrs. Frank (Frances) diez of
    Ransomville, Mrs. Clifford (Lucille)
    Upton of Wilson; two brothers,
    C l a r e n c e of Capitol
    Heights, Md., and Louis of Lockport.
    He also is survived by a
    sister, Mrs. Gladys Clark of
    Cleveland and 15 grandchildren
    and 11 great grandchildren.
    Services Sunday
    Funeral services will be held
    Sunday at the Hamilton and
    Clark Funeral Chapel at 3 p.m.
    with the Rev. Harold Faba, officiating.
    Friends may call after 7 p.m.
    today and from 2 to 4 and 7 to
    9 on Saturday.
    Burial will be at North Ridge
    Cemetery.
    Contributions to the Wilson
    Baptist Church Building Fund
    will be acceptable as tributes.

    LOCKPORT - Douglas F. Diez, age 68, of Ransomville, died peacefully surrounded by his family on Saturday, May 31, 2014 in the Niagara Hospice House in Lockport, after a long illness.

    Doug was born August 6, 1945 in Niagara Falls, NY, the son of the late Frank P. and Francis L. (Swick) Diez. He was a 1963 graduate of Lewiston-Porter High School, and in 1964 began a 37 year career at Harrison-Radiator in Lockport. He retired in 2001 as Receiving Operations Supervisor. In 1996, he received his Associate's degree in Business Management from Niagara County Community College. During his tenure at Harrison-Radiator, Doug was named as a top 10 Supervisor on three different occasions. After his retirement, he drove a school bus for Ransomville Bus Lines for 11 years.

    He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Youngstown and a former member of the Ransomville United Methodist Church, where he spent 23 years as a Certified Lay Leader. Doug was also a member of Alpha Beta Gamma, an international business honor society; past president and member of the Ransomville Free Library; past president and member of the Lewiston-Porter Alumni Assoc.; and a member of the Ransomville Business Assoc. In 2007, the Chamber of Commerce named Doug the Town of Porter Citizen of the Year. Doug was also a member of the Ransomville Cruisers Car Club. He had taken part in the Richard Petty, the Rusty Wallace and the Ferrari Experiences.

    On April 11, Doug celebrated 50 years of marriage to Connie (Campbell) Diez. In addition to Connie, he is survived by his children, Suzanne Cassick of Youngstown, Douglas Stuart Diez of Cape Canaveral, FL, and Jeremy Diez (fiance Audrey Erickson) of Peoria, AZ; his grandchildren, Benjamin and Serena Cassick, Troy and Aurora Diez; two sisters, Shirley Woolard of Indianapolis, IN and Sandra (David) Guzewich of Bel Air, MD; and a sister-in-law, Sue Diez of Cape Canaveral, FL. He was predeceased by his brother, Richard "Rick" Diez.

    Friends may call at HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, 3648 Ransomville Road, Ransomville on Thursday from 7-9 PM and Friday from 4-8 PM. Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 7, at 11:00 AM in the First Presbyterian Church of Youngstown, 100 Church St., Youngstown, with the Rev. Rex Stewart and the Rev. Charles Lamb officiating. Burial in Oakland Rural Cemetery, Youngstown, will be private.     LOCKPORT — Lawrence Kenneth Halstead, age 68, of Wilson, died May 7, 2012 in Eastern Niagara Hospital, Lockport, after a lengthy illness. Born November 29, 1943 in Lockport, he was a son of the late James and Dorothy (Swick) Halstead. He attended District #4 School House, a 1962 graduate of Wilson High School - he was looking forward to the 50th reunion; he had attended Bryant and Stratton. Larry worked the Halstead Farm with his father, and was a farm laborer on various other farms in the area. He worked at Sacred Heart R.C. Church as a janitor, was part of the cleaning crew at the Rainbow Mall, and worked at the concession stand at the county building on Cedar in the Falls. Larry loved to read and study history; he also loved to play chess and could win most games in three moves. He loved spending time with family and was a member at Exley United Methodist Church in Wilson, and was a member of AM Gasport.

    Surviving him is a brother, David (Carol) Halstead of Cuba; a sister, Jean Hayes of E. Wilson; nephews, Wayne (Laurie) Hayes of Tonawanda, Allan Hayes of E. Wilson, and Garry (Joan) Halstead of CA. Also survived by three great-nieces and a great-nephew and many cousins.

    A memorial service will be held at Exley at a date and time to be announced. Contributions may be made to South Wilson Fire Company or to Wilson Fire Company #1 Ambulance Fund. Arrangements by the Hamilton and Clark Funeral Home, 270 Young Street, Wilson.
