Robert E. Payne Obituary

Robert E. Payne of Burt passed away on Saturday, January 13, 2024, at Absolute Care of Gasport. He was born in Lockport, NY, on August 30, 1934, a son of the late Elmer F. and Lena P. (Breitenbach) Payne. Robert was a graduate of Newfane High School. He was employed at Harrison Radiator from 1952-1993. He served in the U.S. Army from 1957-1959 and was stationed in Germany. Robert enjoyed making wine, airplanes, and watching the Buffalo Bills. He loved racing and old cars – including his beloved Mustang, the last “collectable car” he owned. Travelling was something else he enjoyed, especially trips to Letchworth State Park with his son Sam.
He was predeceased by his sisters and their husbands Robert and Marion (Payne) Woods, and Alan and Betty (Payne) Ostwald. Robert is survived by his son Samuel R. Payne and his brother David R. Payne and several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends may call at the Rutland-Corwin Funeral Home, Inc. 2670 Main St. Newfane, NY on Thursday, January 18, 2024, from 10am-12pm where a funeral service will be held at 12 noon. The burial will be in Cold Springs Cemetery. Memorials in Roberts name can be made to St. Andrews Episcopal Church 2239 West Creek Rd. Burt, NY 14028.
