    Marguerite Lettie Fadel

    Niagara Gazette

NIAGARA FALLS — Marguerite Lettie (White) Fadel, former resident of Cleveland Avenue, Niagara Falls, and Our Lady of Peace, Lewiston, gently departed this life and entered into eternal rest on January 13, 2012, in Mount Saint Mary's Hospital, Lewiston. Marguerite was born in Clarkston, Washington, on March 8, 1917, the youngest daughter of Loy Edson and Matilda "Tillie" (Burger) White.

She was a graduate of the Doyle School of Beauty and worked for several years as a hairdresser in Washington. Feeling compelled to serve her beloved country during World War II, Marguerite enlisted in the WAC's, where she attained the rank of T3/Staff Sergeant. While stationed at Camp Shanks in the NYC area, she met her future husband, Chester Samm Fadel. They were joined in Holy Matrimony on February 1, 1944, established their home in Niagara Falls, and celebrated 62 years of marriage before Chester's death in 2006. Marguerite was an exceptional homemaker. Her family was the focal point of her life. As her family grew, so did her capacity for unconditional love for each and every member. Marguerite was an extraordinary cook and baker, a gifted seamstress, and a talented artist. She was an avid reader and lover of music, especially the hymnology of the church. She had a "green thumb" and maintained beautiful flower and vegetable gardens. Marguerite was a true example of Christian womanhood. She was a long-time member of the former First Christian Church in Niagara Falls (now United Baptist-Christian Church of Lewiston), where she taught Sunday School for many years and was an active member of the Alpha Circle.

Marguerite leaves behind to cherish her memory: one daughter, Terryl (Jerry) Walck of Lewiston; and two sons, Harold C. of Niagara Falls, and David L.(Vicki) Fadel of Lewiston, ten grandchildren, and nineteen great-grandchildren; one brother-in-law, Raymond S. (Lillian) Fadel of Niagara Falls; two sisters-in-law, Mildred (late Morton) White of Clarkston, Washington and Catherine (late Alphonse) Tomasian of Washington, D.C.; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great and great-great-nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Marguerite was predeceased by her brothers, Eugene, Morton "Monk", and Harold White; sisters, Esther (late Arleigh) Parker and Ruth (late Neal) Ward; brothers-in-law, Norman and Louis (late Theresa) Fadel; and sister-in-law, Bernice (late Alphonse) Tomasian.

A memorial service celebrating Marguerite's life and legacy will be held on Saturday, February 4, 2012, at the Lutheran Church of the Messiah, 915 Oneida, Lewiston, New York, at 11:00 AM with Pastor Thomas Mason and Rev. Bette Bond officiating. Interment at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Lutheran Church of the Messiah in Marguerite's name. Arrangements were facilitated by the DuBois Funeral Home.
