    GERALD JOSEPH KANOUFF

    December 25, 1933 ~ July 14, 2021
    Passed peacefully on Wednesday, July 14, 2021, at the age of 87.
    Born on December 25, 1933 in Clearfield, PA, he was the son of the late Earl and Cora (Woods) Kanouff. He married Ellen Shildhauer in 1952 and they were together until her death in February 1982. He married Mary Gass in 1999 and she preceded him in death in February 2019.
    In addition to his parents and wives, he was preceded in death by one son, Charles. Four sisters, Anna Lansberry, Mildred Smeal, Martha Albert, Alice Babcock and two brothers, Doyle Kanouff and Floyd Kanouff.
    He is survived by six daughters, Janice Haak of Albertville, AL. Lorna (Jim) Storey of Niagara Falls, NY. Lisa Ryver of Morgan, UT. Grace Sims of Niagara Falls, NY. Brenda (Chris) Bergeron of Niagara Falls, NY. Rachel (Lynette Kollie) Kanouff of Niagara Falls, NY. And three sons, Walter (Kim) Kanouff of South Daytona, FL. William (Gene Biller) Kanouff of Tampa, FL. Daniel Kanouff of Tampa, FL.
    Survived by 16 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. Also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.
    Gerald was in the US Navy from November 1951 – October 1954 where he served on the USS Borie (DD-704) and USS Henley (DD-762). He then worked at Hooker/Occidental Chemical from which he retired after 35 years.
    Gerald lived in several states across the country throughout his life and finally settled on Daytona Beach, FL where he could be nearer to his youngest sister Yvonne.
    There will be a visitation on Saturday, July 17, 2021 from 2-5pm at Cardwell, Baggett & Summers Funeral Home, 301 Big Tree Road, Daytona Beach, FL. Gerald will then be cremated per his request.

    Gerald married SCHILDHAUER, Ellen Mae on 3 Oct 1953 in Niagara Falls, Niagara County, NY. Ellen (daughter of SCHILDHAUER, Walter Earl and MEISTER, Erna Litia Matilda) was born on 20 May 1937 in Niagara Falls, Niagara County, NY; died on 2 Feb 1982 in Niagara Falls, Niagara County, NY.     Mildred Woods (Kanouff) Smeal
    September 11, 1916 - November 24, 2019

    Mildred Woods (Kanouff) Smeal passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 24, 2019. She was 103. She was born in Philipsburg, Pennsylvania on September 11, 1916, a daughter of the late Earl and Cora (Woods) Kanouff. She attended schools in Pennsylvania and then moved to Niagara Falls in 1941. She married Collis Smeal in 1934 and together they moved to Niagara Falls. They remained happily married for 77 years until his passing in 2011.
    She worked as a hairdresser at Betty’s Beauty Salon in LaSalle   for many years. Mrs. Smeal enjoyed crocheting, cooking and hosting people at her home and she was active at the Church of the Nazarene in Niagara Falls and Wesleyan Church in Osceola Mills, Pennsylvania.
    She is survived by her two sons: C. Duane (Mary O’Bresly) Smeal and Marvin (late Lillian Abbey) Smeal and 6 siblings: Yvonne, Gerald, Amelia, Martha, Abbey and Don and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her loving husband Collis M. Smeal and four siblings: Floyd, Doyle, Anna and Alice.
    Friends may call at the LANE FUNERAL HOME, INC., 8633 Buffalo Avenue, Niagara Falls on Wednesday from 4 to 7 PM. Burial will be on Friday at 1 PM in Reidy Cemetery in Wallaceton, Pennsylvania.
