NIAGARA FALLS — Mary Ann Eddy, 93, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away from Alzheimer's Disease, on Thursday, April 5, 2012 at her residence, while under the care of Niagara Hospice. Born on March 26, 1919 in Niagara Falls, NY, she was the daughter of the late Harold and Irene (Peggs) Burdick.
Mrs. Eddy was a lifelong resident of Niagara Falls, NY, and attended local schools. On April 2, 1941, Mary Ann married George W. Eddy in the former Sacred Heart Church in Niagara Falls, NY. Mr. Eddy predeceased her on June 19, 1999. In her younger years, she worked as a hairdresser and later was employed by the former Harrison Radiator in Lockport, NY. Mrs. Eddy was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Parish at the Prince of Peace site, where she served as President of the Prince of Peace Mother's Club. Mary Ann also served as a volunteer for Catholic Charities. She enjoyed fishing, camping in Bobcaygeon, Ontario, Canada, golfing and playing cards. Above all, Mrs. Eddy loved spending time with her grandchildren.
Mrs. Eddy is survived by two children, John F. (Sandy) Eddy of Cambria, NY and Kathleen M. (Michael) Stone of Wheatfield, NY; four grandchildren, Michael Stone, Kathleen (Keith) Herrington, Christopher (Carolyn) Stone and Robert Stone; fourteen great-grandchildren, Matthew, Sami, Joe, Tommy, Katlyn, Joe, Brandon, Karissa, Christopher, Lyndsay, Breanna, Kevin, Nicholas and Nathan; and one great-great-granddaughter, Kaylee.
The family will be present to receive friends on Monday from 4-7 PM in the Chapel of OTTO REDANZ FUNERAL HOME, 2215 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY (297-9007). Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday, April 10th at 10:00 AM in St. Vincent de Paul Parish at Prince of Peace Church, 1055 North Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY. Prayers of committal will follow in Acacia Park Cemetery, North Tonawanda, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorial offerings may be made to Niagara Hospice House, 4675 Sunset Drive, Lockport, NY 14094.
