NIAGARA FALLS — Harry M. Hill, a longtime resident of Niagara Falls, died on Monday, October 1, 2012 in Schoelkopf Health Care Facility. He was 87. He was born in Niagara Falls on October 6, 1924, the son of James and Ruth (Chase) Hill.

Mr. Hill served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during WW II, receiving the American Campaign Medal, Good Conduct Medal and the World War II Victory Medal. He was honorably discharged May 16, 1946 as Staff Sergeant with the 1060th Army Air Force Base Unit. Following his discharge, he began his career as a pipefitter with the E.I. DuPont Company, retiring in 1982.

A longtime member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, he was a volunteer for their Meals on Wheels Program for over 20 years. He also was a 20-plus year volunteer for Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center. Harry was a Life Member of Elks Lodge 346, serving as its past exulted ruler and district deputy; a life member of the American Legion Post 655, Cuba, NY and a former member of the Buffalo Social Club. An avid reader, Harry also enjoyed bowling, his golf outings at the Six-S Golf Club, the family cabin in the southern tier, traveling and most especially being with his family.

He is survived by his beloved wife, LaVonne M. (Gordon) Hill of Niagara Falls; two children, James G. Hill of Niagara Falls and Janice L. Lewis (Ted) of Lewiston; his son-in-law, Roy Chase of Niagara Falls; a brother, Arthur Hill of Texas; and a sister, Barbara Krull of Niagara Falls; grandchildren, Angela Fiorucci, Phillip Chase, Brandie Hill, Jennifer Hill, Jessica O'Grady (Eric); James Hill II and Maggie Garito; eleven great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his daughter, Christine D. Chase; a brother, Robert Hill; and his granddaughter, Stephanie Lewis.

There will be no prior visitation. A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday at 5 PM at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 18th and Cleveland Avenue, Niagara Falls, with the Rev. David Hoecker officiating. Interment will be private in White Chapel Memorial Park Cemetery, Amherst, NY. Memorials, if desired, may be made to the church, Schoelkopf Resident Activity Fund, Niagara Hospice or the Wounded Warriors. The LANE FUNERAL HOME, INC., is handling the funeral arrangements.

James Gordon Hill was a longtime resident of Niagara Falls, NY. He was born on July, 9th 1952 to late Harry and LaVonne Hill. He served honorably in the United States Navy and United States Army during Vietnam as a Navy Corpsman and Army Medic. After his military service he was a plant operator at DuPont and Olin until he retired.
James enjoyed volunteering once retired, he cleaned the shark tank at the Niagara Falls Aquarium using his scuba gear. Scuba diving being another one of his passions. He was an avid cyclist, he once peddled his bike around the whole country of Ireland. He participated in the Ride for Roswell in memory of his cherished sister Christine Chase. James enjoyed traveling, he ran with the bulls in Pamplona, Spain and visited multiple countries. His favorite destination was Cuba where he traveled on multiple occasions. He enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren, history and camping. James was an Active Member of the American Legion and Marine Corp League.. 
James was survived by his children, Brandie Hill, Jennifer(David) Payne, Jessica (Erik) O'Grady, James Hill II (Heather Aronica and Margaret(Thomas) Garito-Hanna his grandchildren Alyssa and Julie Redmond, Gianna Ciffa, Noah, Andrew and Chloe Sieck, Davion, Elijah, Damari and Nazariah Payne, Erik and Lydia O'Grady and Hailey Hill. In addition to his children and 12 grandchildren his sister Janice(Theodore) Lewis, Roy Chase; in law, niece Angela(Marco) Fiorucci and nephew Phillip (Christine) Chase.
Private Services and burial will be held at White Chapel Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial offerings may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
