    funeral of John Baes, 65, who for 35
    years worked for the Friend Manu-
    facturing company here, will be held
    at 2 p.m. Monday at the Friend's
    church. Burial will be in Hartland
    Central cemetery. Mr. Baes, who
    died yesterday at his home in Myr-
    tie avenue, after an extended illness,
    was born in the Town of Hartland,
    August 5, 1879, son of John and Rose
    Baes. He is survived by his wife,
    Hattie Chase Baes; a daughter, Mrs.
    Grace Schiersing, and a son, Roland
    Baes, both of Lockport; three sis-
    ters, Mrs. Mary Hess and Mrs. Sadie
    Metcalf, Gasport, and Mrs. Mable
    Thompson, Lockport; three brothers,
    Charles, George and William Baes,
    all of Gasport.

    Gasport, died Saturday (April
    14, 1962) as he strolled in
    Main Street.
    Mr. Baes, who had lived
    here most of his life, collapsed
    on the street after an
    apparent heart attack. He was
    pronounced dead by Dr. Francis
    Clifford.
    Born in the Town of Hartland,
    he was the son of John
    and Rosina Baes. He had
    worked as a painter, and carpenter
    in this community for
    many years. He was a member
    of the Gasport Friends
    Church.
    Survivors include his widow,
    Mrs. Harriet Baes, two
    sons, Clifford Baes, Louisiana;
    Walter Baes, Florida; a daughter,
    Mrs. Alice Hooter, Sanborn;

    Funeral services were at 2 p.m. today for Clifford Charles Baes, 71, of 112 Westchester Dr., Monroe at the Trinity Lutheran Church here with the Rev. Arthur Betz officiating.

    Burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery in Monroe under the direction of Kilpatricks Funeral Home of Monroe.

    Mr. Baes died Tuesday morning at St. Francis Medical Center following a brief illness.

    Survivors include his widow, Lillian Baes of Monroe; two sons, Richard Baes of Gasport, N.Y. and John Baes of Monroe; two daughters, Mrs. Glorine Jones of Monroe and Mrs. Barbara Boudreaux of Reedsville, N.C.: one sister, Mrs. Alice Hooter of Niagara Falls, N.Y.; and five grandchildren.

    Pallbearers were Elmer Stock, V. J. Casamento, Art Johnson, Ed Johnson, Bill Tucker and Matt Jones.

    NIAGARA FALLS — Alice M. (Baes) Hooter passed away at her home on Saturday, November 5, 2011. She was 93. She was born in Gasport, New York on July 5, 1918, a daughter of Charles and Harriet (Jerge) Baes.

    Mrs. Hooter is survived by her son, Roger Andrew; her daughter, Patricia Bunnell; and many grandchildren; great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by daughters, Maryland Andrews and Pauline Beutel; and her brothers, Clifford and Walter Baes.

    The family will be present at the LANE FUNERAL HOME, INC., 8622 Buffalo Avenue on Tuesday from 1-2 PM, where prayers will be said at 2 PM. Burial will be private in North Ridge Cemetery.

    NIAGARA FALLS —
    Wesley R. Baes passed away on Monday, June 24, 2013 in Strong Memorial Hospital, Rochester, NY. Born in Lockport on February 11, 1938, he was the son of the late Roland and Ada Turrell Baes.
    He graduated from the University of Buffalo with a Bachelor's Degree of Science in Electrical Engineering. Wesley worked at Mattel in Medina, NY, for over 25 years as a fork truck operator. He enjoyed Ham Radio and also airplanes, Wesley had his Pilot License and had studied to be an aircraft mechanic.
    Wesley is survived by his wife of 44 years, Vicki (nee Royer) Baes of Albion; and his children, Shane Baes of Albion, Tarrah (John) Owen of Rochester, Chandra Baes of Florida and Bryce Baes of Albion. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Xion, Kyrah, Daryn, T'Saia, Mallory and Alaric. Wesley was the brother of Eugene (Nancy) Baes; and he is survived by nieces and nephews.
    Friends may call on Friday from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM in Prudden and Kandt Funeral Home, Inc., 242 Genesee Street, Lockport. A funeral service will be held Saturday morning at 10 AM in Trinity Lutheran Church, 67 Saxton St., Lockport. Interment will be in Hartland Central Cemetery.

    GASPORT — Richard C. Baes, age 77, of Gasport, entered into rest on Saturday, July 2, 2011, at his home. Born November 5, 1933 in Chula Vista, CA, he was the son of the late Charles and Lillian (Wruck) Baes.

    After graduating from Lockport High School in 1951, Richard joined the US Navy. He met and married his wife, Lois (Crabb) Baes, August 2, 1958, in Two Rivers, WI. Mrs. Baes died August 8, 2004. After leaving the military he and his wife made their home in Gasport. Richard was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church, life member of the Terry’s Corners Volunteer Fire Company, Terry’s Corners-Wolcottsville Benevolent Association, Lockport American Legion #410, Lockport Elks Lodge #41 and Niagara County Volunteer Fire Police Association. He enjoyed hunting, trap shooting, bowling, gardening and spending time with his family. He had lived in Gasport since 1964; previously of Two Rivers, WI and Lockport.

    Richard is survived by his loving children, Jeffrey (Amy) Baes of Gasport and Kim (Joe) Middione of Fresno, CA, Stephen, Nicholas and Bryan Baes of Gasport and Samantha Reid of Gasport. Brother of John Baes of Monroe, LA, Barbara (Robert) Boudreaux of Reidsville, NC and Glorine Jones of Monroe, LA. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

    Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial service for Richard on Tuesday, July 12, 2011 at 11:00 AM from the Zion Lutheran Church, 4447 Central Avenue, Gasport, NY, with the Reverend Rodney Klinzing officiating. Inurnment will be in Hartland Central Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to the Sherrie-Bream Funeral Home, Gasport, NY.     NIAGARA FALLS — Pauline Beutel died on December 3, 2010, after a courageous battle with lymphoma. She was the daughter of Alice Baes and James Andrew (predeceased) who had received the Purple Heart during WWII while serving in the US Army. Pauline grew up in Millersport and spent much of her childhood with her grandparents, Florence and Harry Andrew and Harriet and Charles Baes.

    Pauline was a lifelong member of St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Sanborn, NY and belonged to numerous clubs throughout her life. She led an active lifestyle and enjoyed traveling, listening to music and enjoyed entertaining. She was an avid roller skater and card player. Pauline was especially fond of her vacations to Disney World with her grandchildren. She hosted and catered many major events including wedding receptions, anniversary and birthday celebrations in her floral gardens. Pauline's culinary talents have been featured in the local newspapers and her pie recipes have been sought after for many years.

    Pauline is survived by her loving husband, James, of more than 53 years. They were blessed with four children, 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Daughter, Jacqueline (Andrew) Messer; grandchildren John and Thomas Messer, Niagara Falls; Michele (Michael) Messina, Lockport; grandchildren, Andrea (Adam) Kinne, great-grandchild, Nicholas and Nina Kinne, West Virginia; 2nd Lt Philip Messina, Virginia and Anthony J. Messina, Lockport, NY; Michael (Michelle) Beutel, Gasport, NY; grandchildren, Michael Jr., of NYC, Ashley and Andrew, Gasport, NY; Jon (Becky) Beutel, Sanborn, NY; grandchildren, Elizabeth and Emily. Pauline was predeceased by her grandson, Nicholas Messina. Pauline has one surviving brother, Roger (Bud) Andrew; predeceased sister-in-law, Ann, Grand Island, NY. Loving sister-in-law of Mrs. Deloris Beutel (predeceased Rev. Eugene) Camp Hill, PA; Harry Kroening (predeceased Jeanette); Mrs. Beatrice White (Bob), Albany; Mrs. Patricia Beutel (predeceased Allan), San Diego; predeceased brother-in-law, Kenneth Beutel; Mr. Edwin Beutel, Jr. (Janet) of Sanborn, NY; Rev. LeRoy Beutel (Thea) Fredericksburg, VA; Mrs. Audrey Mataresse (Carl), Sun City, AZ; Rev Donald Beutel (predeceased Helen) of Baltimore, MD, and their families. In addition to her family, Pauline is survived by many dear and loyal friends.

    LYNDONV1LLE, Aug. 12 -
    Fourteen-year-old Marilyn Andrew,
    Gasport, was killed at 8:15 p.m.
    yesterday when she was struck by
    an outboard motorboat while swimming
    in Lake Ontario at nearby
    Lakeland Park.
    State Police said Marilyn was
    swimming in about eight feet of
    water approximately 75 yards from
    shore at the lime of the mishap.
    They said that Alfred L. Schmitt,
    23, of Medina, operator of the
    14-foot boat, told them he tried
    unsuccessfully to swerve the craft
    when he saw the girl's head bob
    up suddenly in his path.
    'Accident Ruling Slated
    Orleans County Coroner Dr.
    Kenneth Clark, who pronounced
    the girl dead shortly after she was
    brought ashore, said he would issue
    a certificate of accidental death.
    The coroner said the girl suffered
    a possible fractured neck.
    .Marilyn was brought ashore by
    Earl Caldwell and Raymond Bates,
    two of a group of four Lyndonville
    boys who were swimming
    nearby at the time of the accident.
    Sgt. John Sage and Troopers
    Robert . Minekhcin and William
    Ingalls. of the Gaines sub-station,
    state police, who investigated, said
    that Marilyn, who lives with her
    maternal grandparents, Mr. and
    Mrs. Charles Baes, Maplewood
    Dr., Gasport, was visiting the park
    with her father's parents, Mr. and
    Mrs. Harry Andrew, Barker.
    Marilyn, who was born at Lockport
    Oct. 30, 1941, was scheduled
    to enroll next month in Grade 9
    at Royalton-Hartland Central High
    School. She attended F r i e n ds
    Church, Lockport.
    Father in Germany
    In addition to Mr. and Mrs.
    Baes and Mr. and Mrs. Harry Andrew,
    Marilyn is survived by her
    mother, Mrs. Alice Andrew, Gasport;
    her father, Sgt. James Andrew,
    Frankfort. Germany; two
    sisters. Paula and Patricia Andrew,
    Gasport, and a brother, Roger
    Andrew, Barker.
    The body is at the Bream Fu-
    neral Home, Gasport, and funeral
    arrangements are being completed.
    Burial will be in Hartland Central
    Cemetery

    Rosemary L. Bernard of Middleport, passed away early Wednesday morning, October 29, 2014 at Niagara Hospice House. Mrs. Bernard was born in Medina, NY on December 13, 1943, daughter of Merton and Nina (Baes) Walker and she has lived in Middleport for the past 47 years before that she resided in Gasport. She and her husband, Robert J. Bernard, were married on April 29, 1967.

    Mrs. Bernard served as Library Director for the Royalton Hartland Community Library for several years and she enjoyed her family, loved to knit, crochet and read. She also enjoyed playing cards, board games and doing crossword puzzles.

    She is survived by her husband, Robert J. Bernard; two daughters and one son, Laura (Daniel) Zorn of Pendleton, Beth (Brett) Benedict of Rochester and Robert J. Bernard of Buffalo. Also surviving are six grandchildren, Erin Zorn, Zachary Zorn, Hannah Benedict, Avery Benedict, Christopher Joy and Katie Joy; two brothers and one sister, Norman (Martha) Walker of North Carolina, Claudia Hall of Lockport and Steven (Phyllis) Walker of Gasport; and several nieces and nephews.

    Friends may call on Saturday and Sunday from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM at the Bates, Wallace & Heath Funeral Home, 38 State St., Middleport. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 11:00 AM at the Middleport United Methodist Church, Park Avenue., Middleport with the Rev. James Knapp officiating. Burial will be in St. Stephen's Cemetery. Memorials to the Royalton Hartland Community Library, 9 Vernon St., Middleport, NY 14105 or Niagara Hospice, 4675 Sunset Dr., Lockport, NY 14094 would be appreciated by the Bernard family.
