    Albert W. Platt of Appleton, NY, husband of Mary M. Joseph Platt, entered into rest on Friday, October 26, 2012 in Eastern Niagara Hospital, Newfane. He was born in Niagara Falls, NY, on April 1, 1923, the son of the late Albert H. and Melvina Niebrich Platt. Albert owned and operated Platt Farms in Appleton, NY for many years. He enjoyed playing cards, euchre and poker. He also watched western shows and in his youth played shuffle board.
    Father of David (Tracey Mellott) Platt of Burt, Catherine (Ed) Mackerwicz of NJ, Anne Platt of Lockport, Michael (Susan) Platt of Lockport, Cindy Bailey of Appleton, Doug (Peggy) Platt of Burt, Steven Platt of Buffalo, Carrie (Dan) Hogan of Albany, Kim (Andrew) Schuler of Lockport, Matthew Platt of Lockport and the late Christine and Lynne Platt. Brother of Norma Schwartz of Tonawanda, Paul (Linda) Platt of Appleton and the late Melvina Murray, Robert Platt and Jack Platt. Brother-in-law of Louella Carter of Niagara Falls, NY and Ruth Platt of Lockport. Also survived by 25 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
    Friends and family my call at the Newfane United Methodist Church, Main St., Newfane, NY on SATURDAY, November 3, 2012 from 10:30 AM-12 Noon, where a Memorial Service will be held at 12 Noon.     CAMBRIA — Robert T. Platt, of Cambria, NY, formerly of Newfane, NY, husband of Ruth Platt entered into rest on Monday, May 21, 2012 in Eastern Niagara Hospital, Lockport, NY. He was born in Lewiston, NY on March 22, 1928, the son of the late Albert Platt and Melvina Nebrich Platt.

    Robert was a US Army veteran who served his country in the Korean War 1950-1952. He worked for Laborer's Union #91 Niagara Falls, NY, for many years. Robert and Ruth moved to Cambria in 1959 from Newfane, NY, enjoyed euchre playing and stock-car racing, especially NASCAR.

    Father of Timothy Platt of Lima, NY, Judianne (David) Lewis of Bloomfield, NY, Jeffrey Platt, Thomas Platt, both of Lockport and Kris (Janet) Platt of Brunswick, OH. Grandfather of Heidi Lewis, Kyle, Sarah, Melanie and Deanna Platt. Brother of Albert (Mary) Platt, Albert (Linda) Platt, both of Appleton, NY, Norma Schwatz of North Tonawanda, NY and the late John Platt and Melvina Murray. Also survived by five grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

    Friends may call at the RUTLAND-CORWIN FUNERAL HOME, INC., 2670 Main St., Newfane, NY on FRIDAY from 4-8 PM, where funeral services will be held on SATURDAY at 10:00 AM. Burial will be in Somerset Cemetery, Barker, NY. Memorials to Kennilworth United Church of Christ, 45 Dalton Dr., Buffalo, NY 14223 would be appreciated by the family.

    Appleton: Paul “Pete” Henry Platt, son of Albert and Melvina Platt, passed away July 10, 2021, in the very home in which he was born, March 13, 1936.
    Paul was an avid dairy farmer for seven decades, was past president of the Niagara County Farm Bureau, ran for supervisor in the Town of Somerset, had legislation passed in Albany for the prohibiting of “Jack Lighting”, enjoyed making music, and watching westerns.
    Paul is survived by his wife of 63 years, Linda (Peters) Platt, children, Arthur (Darleen), Betsy (Tim) Pratt, Cora (Mark) Popp, and Delbert Platt. Paul is also survived by six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. The family would like to express its sincere appreciation to Niagara Hospice for its excellent care and support.
    Funeral arrangements will be held at the convenience of the family.

    WEST MAGNOLIA, NJ - Catherine M. Markiewicz (nee Platt) entered into rest on Saturday, July 12, 2014 in West Magnolia, NJ. She was born in Newfane, NY, June 2 1952, the twin daughter of Albert and Mary Platt. She was the beloved wife of Edward Markiewicz. The greatest joy of her life was her son, Mimmo Cavaiuolo of Pennsylvania. Cathy enjoyed helping women bring their children into the world, as a labor and delivery nurse and international lactation specialist.

    Survived by her mother, Mary Platt of Lockport, NY. Also survived by her brothers and sisters, David (Tracy Mellott) Platt of Burt, NY, twin sister, Anne Platt of Lockport, NY, Michael (Susan) Platt of Lockport, NY, Cynthia Bailey of Appleton, NY, Douglas (Peggy) Platt of Burt, NY, Carrie (Daniel) Hogan of Albany, NY, Kim (Andrew) Schuler of Lockport, NY, Matthew Platt of Lockport, NY. She had 25 nieces and nephews; several aunts, uncles and cousins. Predeceased by her father, Albert "Bud" Platt; brother, Steven Platt and infant sisters, Christine and Lynne Platt.
