    Joseph Ball, age 68, well known as
    a gardner for former Mayor Calvin O.
    Sutliff, died last night at 7 o'clock at
    his home, 378 Green street of influensa.
    He had been ill only a f ew days
    Eight sons and three daughters survive.
    Funeral services were conducted
    this afternoon at ths home. Burial
    was In S t Mary's cemetery

    A veteran of the spanish Ameri-
    can War, Joseph F. Ball, 72, died
    unexpectedly Monday afternoon at
    his home, 17 Cottage St., of a heart
    attack.
    Born in the Town of Pendleton
    March 29, 1875, Mr. Ball was the
    son of Mr and Mrs. Joseph Ball,
    and was educated in Good Shepherd
    Parochial school at Pendleton. He
    served seven years in the U.S. Navy
    and afterwards was a fireman on
    lake vessels at the Buffalo armory
    and at plants in Niagara Falls and
    Lockport. He retired several months
    ago.
    Mr. Ball was a member of Lockport
    Camp, 83, United Spanish War
    Veterans, and was the oldest member
    of Lockport Navy Ship 110. He
    was a member of Lockport Aerie,
    825. FOE.
    Surviving are two daughters, Mrs.
    Agnes Flanders of Spokane, Wash,
    and Mrs. Charles Wedlake of East
    Gary, Ind.; a son, John L. Ball, of
    Rochester; three grandchildren; a
    sister, Mrs. J. Harold Moore. Lock-
    port; and four brothers. Jacob, John
    L. and Martin L. Ball. Lockport, and
    Adam Ball, Newfane.
    Members of the Spanish War Vet
    erans and Lockport Navy Ship will
    meet at 7:30 this evening in USWV
    Hall, 11 Cottage St. to take action
    on Mr. Ball's death. Afterwards
    they will pay their respects
    Services will be held Thursday
    morning at 8:30 at the Gaul Fun-
    eral Home, 263 East Ave. and at 9
    o'clock at St. Mary's Church. Burial
    will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.

    A veteran of World War I, Louis
    P.- Ball, 48, of 323 Prospect St.. died
    unexpectedly of a heart affliction
    at 3 o'clock Sunday morning in
    the Veterans' Center, Batavia,
    where he was taken on Saturday.
    Mr. Ball was born In Lockport.
    April 11, 1897, and was educated In
    St. Mary's Parochial School. He
    served with the infantry In the
    first World War. For a number of
    years he was employed by the Merrltt
    Engineering and Sales Company
    but for the past ten years had been
    an employe of the Carborundum
    Company in Niagara Falls.
    A member of B. Leo Dolan Post,
    410, American Legion, and the 40
    and 8. Mr. Ball also was a member
    of Lockport Aerie, 836, Fraternal
    Order of Eagles, and the Screwball
    Club.
    Surviving are his wife, Clara; e
    son, Ralph Edward Ball; a sister,
    Mrs. Harold Moore, and five brothers,
    Joseph, Jacob, Adam, John and
    Martin Ball, all of Lockport and
    vicinity.
    Services will be held Wednesday
    at 8:30 at the family home and at
    9 o'clock at St. Anthony's Church
    Burial will be m Wright's Comers
    Cemetery.
    Members of Dolan Post will meet
    this evening at 8:15 in American
    Legion Headquarters and proceed
    hi a body to the Ball home to pay
    their respects to the Legionnaire
    Pott Commander Anthony J. Haley
    will lead the delegation.

    died Saturday evening in his auto-
    mobile on the Peace Bridge, Buf-
    falo. He was a lifelong resident of

    6, 1900. He had been employed at
    the Upson Company.
    A brother, Joseph Ball, a Spanish
    War veteran, died unexpectedly on
    Feb. 2. Surviving are three brothers,,
    Jacob, Adam and John L. Ball and
    a sister, Mrs. J. Harold Moore, Lock-
    port.

    Barbara A. Holmes passed away February 28, 2023.  Born June 26, 1954 in Lockport she was the daughter of Ralph and Joyce (Spalding) Ball.  Barbara worked for Briody’s Health Care Facility where she was a controller retiring in 2020.  She was the President of the Ross Holmes Fan Club, member of the Mickey Mouse Club, served as Treasurer of the Niagara County American Legion Auxiliary, and was a member of the Foar Score Fan Club.  Barbara enjoyed vacationing to Disney World, working with the Race of Champions, spoiling her family, and squirrel watching. 
    Barbara is survived by her husband Ross William Holmes; daughters Michelle Holmes-Anderson (Dean Anderson), Charyl Williams (Eric Williams), and Kay Rahlf (John Rahlf); “BAH” to Grayson Rahlf and EJ Williams; siblings Nancy Babis (late John Babis) and Norman Ball; also several nieces and nephews.
    Relatives and friends may call Friday, March 3rd from 3-7 PM in Prudden & Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee St., Lockport where funeral services will be held Saturday, March 4th at 10 AM.  Interment will be in Cold Springs Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers please send donations to the Windsong Cares Foundation in the name of Barbara Holmes.  Visit pruddenandkandt.com.
