    Jay Barry Dixson of Niagara Falls, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 26, 2021.  He was 92.  He was born in Niagara Falls on September 12, 1928, a son of the late Joseph and Rose Marie (Nolan) Dixson, Sr.
    He attended area schools and then entered the United States Army in 1946, serving in Company K, 9th Infantry Division.  He served proudly until his honorable discharge as a Master Sergeant in 1955.  He received numerous commendations including the United States Service Medal, the Combat Infantry Badge, the Korean Service medal with 3 Bronze Service Stars and The Purple Heart Medal for battle injuries in Korea in 1951.
    After his return from Korea he married Ruth Helen Elizabeth Ostrander and they remained happily married for over 64 years until his passing.  Mr. Dixson worked construction with Local 91 for 20 years during which he worked building the Niagara Power Project in the 1960’s and then worked as the maintenance supervisor for the Niagara Factory Outlet Mall.  Mr. Dixson was a talented artist who enjoyed painting and he loved his time with his family.
    He is survived by his beloved wife Ruth H. (Ostrander) Dixson and many nieces and nephews.   He was predeceased by 5 siblings: Sandra M. Dixson, Carol Hickey, Mory Bower, Sharon Truex and Joseph B. Dixson, Jr.
    Friends may call at the LANE FUNERAL HOME, Inc., 8622 Buffalo Avenue on Sunday from 2-5 P.M.  Burial with Military Honors will be in Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Virginia.

    A Niagara Falls native was killed today when falling
    concrete knocked him some 30 feet into an excavation
    at the intake of the Niagara power project on the
    upper Niagara River.
    Dea on arrival at Memorial
    Hospital was:
    Joseph B. Dixson, 30, of
    732^ Elmwood Ave. He was
    a laborer at the intake works
    and was the father of four
    children. An employe of Merritt-
    Chapman & Scott, he was
    the project's eighth.fatality.
    Another worker, Bernard
    Thompson, 19, of 366 First
    St., sustained an ankle injury
    in the same accident. He
    was treated at the hospital
    and released.
    Concrete Pours Out*
    The mishap occurred at 7:10
    a.m., shortly before Dixson's
    shift was due to be relieved.
    Workers were placing concrete
    for the intake structure.
    A bucket being lowered opened,
    and the concrete poured
    out, knocking Dixson into the
    excavation.
    Dixson was bom in Niagara
    Falls Aug. 22, 1929. He attended
    St. Mary's School and
    Niagara Falls High School
    and served in the Navy. He
    worked for the Goodyear
    Tire and Rubbery Co. for five
    years.
    He is survived by his wife,
    Mrs. Janice Price Dixson; a
    son, Barry Dixson, and three
    daughters, Cheri, Debra and
    Tina Dixson. -° Mrs. Dixson is
    expecting a fifth child.

    Mr. and Mrs. J. Bryan Dixson,
    this city: a brother, J. Barry
    Dixson, Grand Island, and
    four sisters; Miss Sandra,Dixson

    Funeral services will be
    held at Cobler's-. F u n e r a l
    Home Saturday at 2 p.m. with
    the Rev. Eric L. A. Hill, officiating.
    Interment will be
    in Memorial Park Cemetery.

    NIAGARA FALLS — Debra "Debbie" Marie Tjaden, 56, of Niagara Falls, NY, died on Tuesday, January 24, 2012 at her residence, under the care of Niagara Hospice. Born in Niagara Falls, NY, she was the daughter of the late Janice (Price) Arnone and J. Anthony Arnone of Florida.

    Debbie was a lifelong resident of Niagara Falls, NY, and attended local schools. On October 20, 1984, she married Allan F. Tjaden at St. Timothy Evangelical Lutheran Church on Grand Island, NY. She was employed as a supervisor at Unifrax in Niagara Falls, where she was a member of the "After 5 Club." She was very organized and enjoyed planning events especially the annual Christmas Party and summer picnic for Unifrax.

    In addition to her husband of twenty-seven years, Debra is survived by two daughters, Ashley Marie Tjaden and Elise Nicole Tjaden, both of Niagara Falls, NY; three brothers and two sisters, E. Barry Dixson of Dublin, VA, Cherie L. Dixson of Pearisburg, VA, Tina (Michael) Baker of Niagara Falls, NY, Joseph B. (Karen) Dixson of Amherst, NY and Stephen A. (Tammy Call) Arnone of Niagara Falls, NY. She is also survived by several aunts, uncles, brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins.

    Visitation will be on Saturday from 6-8 PM and on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY. Family and friends are invited to attend funeral services on Monday, January 30th at 10 AM in St. Timothy Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1453 Staley Road, Grand Island, NY with Rev. Dean M. Hunneshagen officiating. EVERYONE PLEASE ASSEMBLE AT CHURCH. Entombment in St. Joseph Cemetery, Niagara Falls, NY.     PITTSBURGH, PA — Scott Francis Sullivan died on June 25, 2012, in Pittsburgh, after a lengthy illness. He was born in Buffalo on October 1, 1957, a son of Sandra Dixson and grandson of Rosemarie and Joseph Dixson.

    Scott attended local schools and then served in the United States Navy aboard the submarine John F. Kennedy in the Pacific. He worked as a cook in many area restaurants, most recently at the Jetport, a job he loved. He enjoyed gardening and his time with his family, especially his much loved dog, Rosie.

    In addition to his mother, Sandra, Scott was the beloved husband of Susan (Friedman) Sullivan; loving stepfather to Leslie (Dan) Haick. He is also survived by his brother, Christian (Mira) Dixson of Washington; brother-in-law, Mike (Carol) Strasburg of California; his niece and best man, Annie Strasburg; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
