    Niagara Gazette - 2/15/1940

    Kenneth Bond. 21-year-old son of
Mr. and Mrs. Fred Bond, of the
Military road, Town of Niagara, was
    fatally injured yesterday afternoon
when his head was caught between
    the descending box and framework
of a motor truck and crushed while
he was delivering coke for the
    George W. Maloney Coal company,
South avenue, by which he was em-
    ployed.
The young man died this morning
at 4:30 o'clock in Memorial hospital.
Dr. Harry R. Emes, coroner, said
death was due to hemorrhage and
hock caused by a crushed skull and
    lacerated brain. The coroner said
he would issue a certificate of acci-
    dental death.
    When injured Bond was delivering
at the home of Mrs. Rose Tisdale
1643 Linwood avenue. He had un-
loaded part of the consignment of
coke and then attempted t raise the
box of the truck by cranking. He
slipped on the ice and the crank
came off and he was thrown so
that his heard fell under the box,
which descended on him and held
him fast. Looking from a window
of her home, Mrs. Tisdale saw the
    young driver's predicament and
called the coal company. A man
    was sent from the office.

tracted by Mrs. Tisdale's calls for
help. Phillips took the crank which
was still in young Bond's hand and
raised the box of the truck, assisted
by others. Moran lifted Bond from
the truck. Women of the neighbor-
    hood brought blankets and covered
the injured man until an ambulance
    from the Falls Garage arrived.
Removed to the hospital in a
    critical condition, Bond was attend-
ed by special nurses, surgeons and
    specialists throughout the night and
early morning but they were unabe
    to save his life.
    Kenneth Bond, an active member
of the Town of Niagara First
Volunteer Fire company, was one of
the most popular young residents of
the Military road section. He took a
keen interest in town affairs and
assisted with the erection of the
    First United Presbyterian church
    building in the Military road.

    Notes:

Obituary of John Wielgus John Wielgus, 60, of Niagara Falls, passed away on Sunday, August 30, 2015 at his home, following a courageous yearlong battle with cancer. John was born December 6, 1954 to Edward and Mildred (Bechtel) Wielgus. He attended local schools and was a graduate of Niagara Wheatfield High School, Class of 1974. John made his living as a house painter who worked side by side with his father but his true love and passion was music, Blues Music. Known to most as "Harmonica John," John was a member of a number of formidable Blues Bands, including The Buffalo King Snake Band, The Excellos and The Electras. John was one of the regular house musicians at the Imperial Garage in the 1980's that hosted several famed old time blues bands. Within this time his true success was with Stevie B and the Rhythm Rockers, they recorded an album "The Real Thing" and played live at Attica State Prison. In the 1990's John went on tour with James Peterson. John was honored by Buffalo Music Award for top blues Harmonica player in 1994 and again in 1995. In 2004 Blues Beat Magazine presented him with the Muddy Waters Award for excellence in the field of blues "Class Act Award." Last November, John played his harmonica for the last time at a tribute for him. Family and friends gathered to watch and listen to the talent of this amazing man. A very gentle and humble man, John played his harmonica every night referring to it as his prayer to the Lord for giving him the talent to share with others. John loved to read and was an animal lover. He was also an avid Yankees and true Buffalo Bills Fan. Family and friends found it entertaining watching John watch the games, rather than the games themselves. John is survived by his wife Heather, stepson Richard Kraft of Florida, two brothers, Edward Wielgus (fiancée Terri) of Middletown Ohio. Richard (Michele) Wielgus, of Lewiston, NY, two grandchildren Allison and Cooper Kraft.John and Heather shared a major role in raising his niece, Chelsey Wielgus, and he lovingly assumed the role "judgie" to Chelsey's' two children, Carly and Scotty.
