    home, Newfane, N. Y., July 5, 1928,
    at the age of 53 years. He leaves
    his wife, .one son, Lee, and one
    daughter, Jennie, at home, his father,
    William H. Beers, of Newfane, three
    brothers, C W. Beers of Lockport,
    W. H. Beers of New York City, R.
    L. Beers of Detroit, Mich., one sister,
    Mrs. Burt Pettlt, of Newfane, N. Y.
    Funeral services will be held at the
    home Sunday at 4 o'clock, Standard
    time. Burial at Wrlfht'a Corners
    cemetery.

    Pettit, 88, formerly of this village
    and widow of Bert Pettit,
    died Sunday (Dec. 31, 1967) at
    the home of her daughter, Mrs.
    Lloyd (Lois) Miller of 69 Lake
    Ave., Lancaster, after a twoweek
    illness.
    She was born Jan. 9, 1879 in
    Newfane, the daughter of William
    H. and Edna Mason Beers,
    and had lived here until going
    to live with her daughter three
    years ago.
    Mr. Pettit died in 1950.
    She had been a member of
    Newfane Methodist Church for
    a longer time than any other
    person. Mrs. Pettit also was a
    member of the Loyal Seniors
    group and Woman's Society of
    Christian Service of the church,
    of the WCTU and a former
    member of the Newfane Tuesday
    Club.
    Surviving, besides Mrs. Miller,
    are another daughter and
    three sons, Miss Edna M. Pettit
    of Lancaster, Charles Pettit
    of Port Charlotte, Fla., Lawrence
    Pettit of Newfane and
    Malcolm Pettit of Olcott; two
    brothers, William H. Beers of
    Southern Pines, N.C., and
    Royce L. Beers of Birmingham,
    Mich.; also 10 grandchildren,
    14 great - grandchildren and
    several nieces and nephews.
    Friends may call at the Rutland
    - Corwin Funeral Home
    Inc., 2670 Main St., Newfane

    Mr. Beers, husband of the
    former May Corwtn of Newfane,
    died March 2, at Southern
    Pines.
    He was the son of William
    and Edna Mason Beers and had
    lived here during his youth.
    Mr. Beers was employed by
    Mutual Benefit Insurance Co.
    from die age of 24 until his retirement
    several years ago. He
    lived most of that time in Rochester.
    Besides his widow, he is survived

    the Chevrolet Co. He was
    later In the same business in
    Lockport and Albion. At one

    the last 12 years he spent his

    LOCKPORT —
    Jennie B. Stahler, age 103, of Lockport, NY, passed away on Saturday, June 22, 2013 in Eastern Niagara Hospital, Lockport, NY. Born on January 6, 1910 in Newfane, NY, she was the daughter of the late John and Edith (Breckon) Beers. She was the wife of the late Horace Stahler.
    Mrs. Stahler worked as a Secretary at the Lockport Felt Company in Newfane. She enjoyed playing bridge and spending time with her family and friends.
    She is survived by her sons, Edwin J. (Jeannie) Shoemaker of Olcott, NY, A. Michael (Mary) Shoemaker of Lancaster, NY; daughter, Ann L. Layton of Tehachapi, CA; grandchildren, John (Susan) Shoemaker, Heidi B. Shoemaker, Michael Shoemaker, Mark (Angela) Shoemaker, Alexis Shoemaker, Lee Ann (Steve) Setzer, Nikki (Mark) Johnston and several great-grandchildren. She was also predeceased by her brother, Lee Beers.
    A Memorial Service will be announced at a later date. Donations in memory of Mrs. Stahler can be made to the South Lockport Fire Company, 5666 S. Transit Rd., Lockport, NY 14094.

    LOCKPORT-A farm machinery
    salesman, Herbert Beers, 37. was
    burned to death early today by a
    fire of undetermined origin which
    destroyed his home in the Ridge
    road, one-half miles east of Ridgewood.
    N. Y., with a loss estimated
    by firemen at $5,000.
    The fire was well advanced when
    a passing motorist discovered at
    about 1 o'clock this morning and
    aroused Mr. Beers' father, Charles
    W. Beers, who resides next door.

    It was then impossible to enter the
    burning building.
    Wrights' Corners and Newfane
    village firemen found the charred
    body several hours later after hundreds
    of gallons of water, carried
    by tank trucks, had been poured
    into the smouldering ruins.
    Mr. Beers, who was employed by
    his father In the farm machinery
    business at Ridgewood, Is believed
    to have retired. Firemen believe
    that he awakened and made an
    unsuccessful effort to get out of the
    burning half-story wooden structure
    as his body was not found in
    the part of the ruins where his
    bedroom was located.
    His wife. Mrs. Mary Hannigan
    Beers, who had been out for the

    evening, returned while firemen
    were fighting the blaze and was
    prostrated' with grief. Besides his
    wife and parents. Mr. Beers leaves
    one brother. Clifford W. Beers, of
    Rochester. N. Y., who was formerly
    in the automobile business here. At
    one time Herbert Beers was employed
    bv his brother in the automobile
    field.
    The destroyed home was owned
    by Charles W. Beers, and was believed
    to be about 100 years old. It
    had been recently remodelled.
    Wright's Corners firemen, under
    Chief Ray Dlrling, were first on the
    scene and were followed by the
    Miller Hose company. Newfane. N.
    Y.. under Chief Edwin Rowland.
    The fire was beyond control when
    they arrived and hose lines were
    concentrated on the sleeping quarters.
    Chief Dlrling estimated that 6,000
    gallons of water were used. Dr.
    Mabel Carrner. coroner, of Newfane,
    and State police at Lewlston, N. Y ,
    were notified.
