    Sudden sorrow struck a local
    home early Saturday morning,
September 11, 1954 when the infant
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard
    Benedict, was found dead in
    bed by the mother.
Mrs. Benedict, with her son Richard,
    Jr., and her infant daughter,
Judy Ann, had arrived in Castile
    only last Thursday from their
home in Oklahoma, to spend some
time with her husband's family. The
mother and infant, who was only
27 days old, occupied the same bed,-
When the mother awoke early, Saturday
    morning she discovered the
child was not breathing. Dr. G. S.
Baker was summoned and he pro-
nounced the baby dead upon his
arrival. The cause of death was at-
    tributed to asphyxiation.
    Services .were conducted Sunday
afternoon at 2:00 o'clock at the
G,rave in Grace Cemetery with the
Rev. Edward Black, pastor of the
    Castile Baptist Church, officiating.

    brother, Richard Jr., survives; also
    the paternal grandparents, Mr. and
Mrs. Chester Benedict and the maternal

    daughter, received an emergency
leave and was flown to the
