    Nicholas B. Berak, 82, of
    9609 Greenwald Ave. died at
    home Friday (June 9, 1967).
    He was the husband of the
    late Bessie Berak.
    Born in Austria, he had
    lived in this city for 50 years.
    Mr. Berak owned and operated
    the Berak Construction
    Co. for 20 years. He was later
    employed by the Autolite Co.
    until his retirement in 1950.
    Mr. Berak is survived by
    three sons, John F., George,
    and Samuel Berak all of this
    city.
    Funeral services will be
    held at the Spallino Funeral
    Home Tuesday at 9:45 a.m.
    and at St Joseph's Church at
    10:15 a.m. Burial will be in
    Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
    Friends may call from 2
    p.m. to 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. to
    10 p.m. today and Monday.

    Falls, who died Dec. 14, were
    Issued to the parents, Nikola and
    Bessie Berak, 128 13th street. Niaga
    n Falls. The estate was listed as a
    right of action for Antoni's death.

    A young man was Injured fatally

    when his automobile was struck by
    a passenger train on the Hyde Park
    boulevard grade crossing near Buffalo
    avenue and two other persons
    were hurt in traffic accidents in
    other parts of the city last night.
    Berak Killed.
    The dead:
    Anthony Blaz Berak, 22 years old,
    126 Twelfth street.
    The injured:

    Marshall Clark, 11 years old, 1317
    Michigan avenue, in Memorial hos-
    pital with a fractured left leg and
    brush burns of the body.
    Miss Janet Thomas, 24, 583 Third
    street, in Memorial hospital with
    head injuries and abrasions of the
    right knee.
    Car Torn Apart
    The grade crossing accident in
    which young Berak lost his life oc-
    curred last evening at 6:50 o'clock.
    He was driving his automobile, a
    sedan, north over the crossing, after
    turning in from Buffalo avenue.
    The Lehigh passenger train was
    traveling west, coming into the city,
    on the second track north from Buf-
    falo avenue. The right side and rear
    of the automobile were torn apart
    by the impact of the locomotive and
    the car was tossed to the side of
    the track near a telegraph pole.

    Neck Broken
    When the train crew and others
    reached the automobile it was
    turned around and the front of the
    car was facing east. Berak was in
    the back seat, the terrific Impact
    having thrown him backward from
    behind the wheel. His skull was
    fractured and his neck was broken.
    According to Dr. Harry r. Emes,
    coroner. Rushed to Memorial hos-
    pital in the Falls Garage ambu-
    lance, Berak died a few minutes af-
    ter being carried into the hospital.
    The body was sent to the Tubinis
    Funeral chapel, in East Falls street.
    Members of Berak's family said
    that he had left his home only a
    few minutes before the accident oc-
    curred. He was on his way to Lock-
    port to call upon a girl friend and
    drove east in Buffalo avenue and
    swung north over the crossing, when
    the train, known as the Lehigh
    ?? struck his car. The crossing is
    protected by flashlight signals and
    ??.
    Police Investigate
    A squad of police officers led by
    Traffic Lieut. John J. Dietz and
    including Patrolmen Bernard Ader-
    mann, Thomas Wasley, Fred G.
    Williams tried to find eye witnesses
    to the crash but reported that they
    were unable to locate any. Investi-
    gation of the fatality is being con-
    ductedd today by police and Coroner
    ??.
    Berak was a son of Mr. and Mrs.
    Nicholaus Berak, of the Twelfth
    street address. He was born in Chi-
    cago and came to this city with his
    parents in 1924. He was graduated
    from the Niagara Falls high school
    in 1935 and since then had been em-
    ployed by the shipping department
    at the U.S. Battery corporation, in
    ??? avenue. He was a member
    of Holy Trinity Chapter 512, of
    the Croation Fraternal Union lodge.
    Surviving the young man, besides
    his parents, are three brothers,
    George, Samuel and John, all of
    this city.
    Funeral services will be held in
    the home, 126 Twelfth street, Sat-
    urday morning at 9:30 o'clock, and
    the Holy Trinity church, East Falls
    and Fourteenth streets, at 10 o'clock.
    Burial will be in Rivedale ceme-
    tery.
    The Hyde Park crossing has taken
    the lives of many persons and several
    campaigns have been started to
    have it illuminated by construction
    ??? or overhead bridge. The
    ?? of the crossing has been one
    of the leading arguments advanced
    in favor of relocation of railroad
    tracks in this city.

    Kristen M. Berak, 48, of Niagara Falls, NY, entered into rest peacefully at her home on Friday, October 19, 2018.  Born and raised in Niagara Falls, NY, she was the daughter of Sharon (Salvatore) DeMarco and Carl (DeSales) Berak. 
    Kristen attended local schools and graduated from Niagara Catholic. She worked as a waitress for numerous restaurants in the area and recently worked for Niagara Mohawk in customer service. She was loved by her family and friends and was always there to lend a helping hand.
    In addition to her parents, Kristen is survived by her sister and best friend, Karri Berak (Vincent Bonura); and her cherished nephew, Vin Bonura who called her, “Aunt Kursey.” She is also survived by her step-brothers, Jordan Toohey and Joseph Toohey; her uncle Tony (fiancé Diane) Berak; and many cousins, as well as her dear friends, Rob and Sarah who referred to Kristen like a Mother; and her beloved dog, Diamond.
    Visitation will begin on Wednesday, October 24th from 3 – 7 p.m. at M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 MILITARY ROAD, NIAGARA FALLS, NY. Kristen's Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday at 10:00 A.M. in Holy Family Parish at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 27th Street and Independence Ave, Niagara Falls.
