Vera H. (Bassler) Bullard, 91, of Lockport, NY - wife of the late Claude W. Bullard entered into rest on Thursday, July 14, 2022.  She was born on September 14, 1930 in Somerset, NY to the late Clyde and Minnie Bassler. 
She graduated from Newfane Central School in 1948, married Claude W. Bullard on July 15, 1950, worked at Harrison Radiator in Lockport from 1970 to 1988.  Vera was a member of the Concordia Lutheran Church and the UAW.  She loved to read and work in the garden.
Surviving are daughters Susan (Richard) McKie, Nancy Bartow; Grandchildren Stephen (Christine) McKie, Christopher (Jennifer) McKie, Roslyn (Ryan) Rinaldo and Amber (Trey) Alvarez.  Also, her great-grandchildren Emma, Megan, Benjamin, Madison and Lily McKie, William and Evelyn Rinaldo, and Logan Alvarez.  Also survived by special niece, Ann Schermerhorn and special nephew John (Jenny) Bassler, and several other nieces and nephews; and sister-in-law, Phyllis Bassler, and former sister-in-law Wanda Bobzien. She was predeceased by a son, William C. Bullard; brothers Kenneth, Keith and Clifford Bassler; sister-in-law Gloria Bassler; niece Diana Welch.
Family and friends may call at the Rutland-Corwin Funeral Home, Inc. 2670 Main St. Newfane, NY on Monday, July 18, 2022 from 4-7pm. A Funeral service will be held on in Concordia Lutheran Church 3121 Beebe Rd. Newfane, NY. Burial will be in Corwin Cemetery.

A young Newfane man. married
only three weeks ago, died
about 3 this morning (May 2,
1960) when the 1959 sports car he
was driving missed a curve on
Lockport ° Olcott Rd. north of
Newfane. The auto plunged down
an 80-foot embankment leading to
Eighteen-Mile Creek.
Dead is Keith C. Bassler, Dale
Rd., Newfane. He would have observed
his 26th birthday on May
20.
His body was identified by his
wife, the former Wanda Ruth
Berndt, who was First at the
scene after Trooper Joseph L.
Lenahan discovered the wrecked
car about 6 this morning.
Mrs. Bassler stopped at the
scene near the Newfane Conservation
Club just north of the Village
of Newfane limits to inquire
if the trooper had seen her
husband in a little red car.
EARLIER REPORT
She was told the car and her
husband's body were down the
embankment
The trooper had patrolled toe
area earlier after a report by
Maurice Sprankle. Star Trailer
Ct, Newfane, who told him "a
car went over the embankment."
The car was not visible from
the road. On further investiga-
tion, Tooper Lenahan found the
wreckage.
Mr. Bassler was driving a 1960
Austin-Healy convertible which
the couple had bought recently.
He left home about 10 Sunday
evening.
Trooper Lenahan reported the
auto apparently "flew" off toe
road after Mr. Bassler missed the
curve.
SHOWER WAS PLANNED
The body and car were retrieved
by service station employes
and volunteer workers.
Mr. Bassler had been employed
as a scaler at the Niagara Power
Project and previously worked on
other consti uction jobs.
The couple was married April
6 in the Evangelical United
Brethren Church in the Rapids.
Mrs. Bassler is the daughter of
Mr. end Mrs. Herbert J. Berndt,
6725 Moyer Rd., Lockport. She
was formerly an admissions clerk
at Lockport Memorial Hospital.
Hospital employes were planning
a shower for her this evening.
The couple had been living at
the home of Mr. Bassler's pari.
Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Bassler,
Dale Rd. They had planned
to move soon into a newly-purchased
trailer.
His mother passed the scene on
me way to work in Lockport today,
not knowing of her son's
death.
Coroner Dr. George H. Muscato
Jr. pronounced Mr. Bassler
dead at the scene.
Mr. Bassler attended Newfane
Central School, and served for a
time In the Marine Corps in 1952.
Trooper Frank Britt, who aided
in the case, was a classmate of
toe victim.
Survivors besides his wife and
parents include s sister, Mrs.
Vera Bullard of Lockport. and
two brothers. Kenneth C. of Newfane
and Clifford of New York
City.

NEWFANE — Clifford D. Bassler, of Newfane, NY, husband of the late Gloria Hayes Bassler, entered into rest Saturday, September 28, 2013 in Eastern Niagara Hospital, Newfane, NY. He was born in Newfane, NY April 7, 1937, the son of the late Clyde and Minnie Thiel Bassler. His wife Gloria died July 10, 2013.

Cliff worked at Harrison Radiator in production for 31 years. He enjoyed church dinners, playing cards, taking rides in his car, playing accordion and harmonica and old country music.

Father of Keith Bassler of Newfane, John (Jennifer) Bassler of Newfane, Diana (Scott) Welch of Maryland, and Timothy Bassler of Lockport. Grandfather of Christopher Connor, Thomas Welch, Elizabeth, Melinda and Kevin Bassler. Brother of Vera (Claude) Bullard of Lockport and the late Kenneth and Keith Bassler. Also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the RUTLAND-CORWIN FUNERAL HOME, INC., 2670 Main St., Newfane, NY, THURSDAY 3-7 PM. Funeral services will be held FRIDAY at 11:00 AM in Grace Bible Church, 6023 Dutton Place, Newfane, NY. Burial will be in Corwin Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Michael Bolton of Lockport, NY entered into rest on Thursday, March 31, 2022 in Niagara Hospice House. Michael was born in Newfane, NY on January 22, 1975, son of Cheryl (Sheri Bassler) Bolton and the late David Bolton.
Michael graduated from Royalton-Hartland, E.C.C.C, Kodak Internship. He was employed by Kodak in research. Dear brother of Heather (Tony) Ark. Favorite uncle of Anthony, Alexander and Ashton Ark. Best friend and cousin of Mathew Grimmey. Also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, and extended family. Predeceased by his grandparents, Kenneth and Phyllis Bassler and Nancy and Howard Bolton and his best Dog, CoCo. No prior visitation. Burial will be held in Corwin Cemetery.
