APPLETON, Jan. 21 - Relatives
from this vicinity have returned
from Lodl, where they attended the
funeral of Fred Betzler, born in Appleton
69 years ago. He passed away
In his home last week, of blood
poisoning. Using a buzz saw on his
farm, Mr. Betzler's hand was cut
two weeks ago. Infection developed
and his condition soon became
grave.
A former Appleton farmer, he had
since resided many years in Lodi.
He is survived by h i s widow, Jenny
Betzler, and three children, Howard,
Donald and Grace Betzler, all of
Lodi; also four brothers, Frank, Bert,
Edward and Charles Betzler; and
three sisters, Mrs. John Lenz and
Anna Betzler and Mrs. Louise
Hewett. Mrs. Hewett resides in the
West. The remainder live to Appleton
and vicinity.
Attending the funeral were Mr.
and Mrs. Charles Betzler, Mrs. Julia
Betzler, Edward, Bert and Prank
Betzler of Appleton.

NEWFANE - Services for Mrs
Elizabeth Betzler Leinz, who died
at her home, Transit Road, after
several months illness were held
today at the home. The Rev. Mil-
ton Putnam of Hess Road Wes-
leyan Methodist Church officiated.
Burial was in Lake View Ceme-
tery, Olcott.
Mrs. Leinz was born in Wilson,
a daughter of the late Henry and
Caroline Buchele Betzler. She had
lived in the Town of Newfane for
more than 70 years.
Surviving are a sister, Miss
Anna Betzler, who resided with
her; three brothers, Frank, Ed-
ward L. and Burt Betzler, all of
Appleton.

A certificate of accidental death
due to drowning has been issued
by Dr. Henry C. Lapp of North
Tonawanda, coroner, in the case
of Charles Betzler, 72, of the Hoff-
man Road, appleton, whose body
was recovered Monday from the
Barge Canal about four miles east
of the city.
The theory of murder and rob-
bery was discounted by $15 in cash
found in the drowned man's pick-
ets, authorities said. The man's
skull was fractured and an arm
broken, but authorities added that
indications were that the body
had been struck or entangled
in the propeller of a passing tug.
Born in the Town of Newfane,
Mr. Betzler had farmed all his
life in that sector and in recent
years had peddled vegetables in
Lockport where he was last seen
the afternoon of Nov. 20.
He is survived by one daughter,
Miss Mildred Betzler, New York
City; two sisters, Mrs. John Leinz
and Miss Anna Betzler, both of
Burt, and three brothers, Frank,
Edward and Burt Betzler, all of
Appleton.
The body was taken to the
Glenn H. Corwin Funeral Home
in Newfane where funeral arrange-
ments are being made.

D. Betzler, 74, of Lodi, who died Friday,
will be Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. from the
Hurlbut Funeral Home, Interlaken.
Burial will be in Lake View Cemetery,

There will be no calling hours.
Mr. Betzler was born in the Town of
Lodi and had lived his entire life in Lodi.
He was the son of Fred and Mary Jennie
Betzler. He was a member of the United
Presbyterian Church of Lodi and the
Lodi Grange.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Stevanija
Betzler; a sister, Mrs. Grace Slaght and
