Roy C. Bench, 51, of 56 Grant
Avenue, a life long resident of
this city and for 25 years engaged
in the coal business, died
early today at Auburn City Hospital
Mr. Bench had been ailing
for about two years but had been
confined to the hospital Only a
short time. Mr. Bench for many
years was a member of Auburn
Lodge. B.P.O.E.
Surviving besides his wife,
ars Mrs. Isabel Bills Bench, five
daughters, Mrs. Stuart MacKay,
Mrs. Thomas Moseley, Mrs. John
Carmody, Miss Vera Bench and
Miss Betty Bench; two sons. Walter
I. Bench and Lehigh Bench,
all of this city; six grandchildren,
and several nieces and
nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted
at the F. H. Langham *
Son Funeral Home, 91 East Genesee
Street, at 2 o'clock Monday
afternoon. Burial will be In Soule
Cemetery. Friends may call at 91
East Genesee Street, from 7 to 9
o'clock Saturday evening and
from 3 to 5 Sunday afternoon
and from 7 to 9 o'clock Sunday
evening.

Mrs. Verna Bench MacKay,
wife of Stuart S. MacKay of 180
North Street, died unexpectedly
Tuesday. December 21, 1976 at
Auburn Memorial Hospital.
Born in Auburn, she had
resided here all her life. She
was the daughter of the late Roy
C. and Isabelle Bills Bench.
Mrs. MacKay was a member
and past Elder of the First
Presbyterian Church and a
member of the building committee
of the new church. She
was a trustee of the YMCAWEIU,
a member of the Board
of Managers of The Home, a
member of the auxiliary board
of the Cayuga Museum, a
former member of the Board of
Trustees of Auburn Memorial
Hospital, a member of the
Round-A-Bouts, the Owasco
Country Gub and for many
years active in the United Fund
of Cayuga County. She was
chosen Woman of the Year in
1959. She was associated with
the Auburn Nursing Home as a
social worker.
Surviving are her husband,
two daughters, Mrs. John
(Lynn) Blodgett, Newark, Miss
Martha S. MacKay, Auburn;
one son. Stuart S. MacKay, Jr.,
Cookesville, Tenn. Four sisters,
Mrs. Thomas W. Moseley,
Niles, Mrs. John Carmody,
Mrs. Holmes D. Sullivan, Mrs.
George P. Diehl. Jr.. all of
Auburn. Two brothers, Walter
I. Bench, Fleming. Leigh R.
Bench, York, Penna. Five
grandchildren, several nieces
and nephews.
