Rd . a resident of Auburn all his
life, died yeaterday evenlng at
Mercy Hospital. He had been ill
for five months
For 19 years Mr Burns was a
guard at Auburn Pnson Before
hat. he was with the Northway
Chevrolet Co He was a lieutenant
In the Army In World War I.
He was a communicant of 8t
Alphonsus Church axd a member
of the Holy Name Society of that
parish He was a past commander
of VFW post 197 6 He belonged
to the Elks and the Prison Guard
Association.
Surviving are his widow, Mrs.
Irene Bills Burns; three sons.
William B Burns of the New
York State Thruwav patrol and
David J Burns, both of Auburn
and Thomas F. Burns, with the
Army at Ft Benning. Ga.; a
brother. Joseph A. (Gus) Burns
of Auburn, and a sister, Mrs. W.
I. Burdlck of Charleston. W. Va.
Serwill be at 9 a. m.
Tuesday at the home of the deceased
and at 9 30 a m. at St.
Alphonsus Church. Burial will be
in St. Joseph's Cemetery.
