    illness.-
    Born in I^banon, she came
    to Binghamton, N.Y., prior to
    moving to Niagara Falls 40
    years ago.
    She operated the Main
    Tobacco Co. at Main Street and
    Ontario Avenue from 1930 to
    1966 with her husband, Bishara
    W. Bishara, who died in 1966.
    She was a member of St.
    George's Ladies Society.
    Survivors include her
    mother, Mrs. Bader Haick
    Salem of Lebanon; three sons,
    William and Kamil D. Bishara,
    both of this city, and Joseph
    Bishara of Buffalo; two
    daughters, Mrs. George
    Richard (Grace) Aswad of
    Grand Island, and Mrs. Jack
    (Judy) Manoukian of Stony
    Creek, Ont.; a sister, Mrs.
    Norman (Najme) Kenien of
    Binghamton, and 10 grandchildren.
    Funeral services will be held
    at the Rhoney Funeral Home at
    11:30 a.m. Thursday and at St.
    George's Orthodox Church at
    noon.
    Friends may call from 7 to 9
    p.m. tonight and from 2 to 5 and
    7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday.
    Memorial contributions to St.
    George's Orthodox Church
    building fund are acceptable as
    tribute, the family said.

    OBITUARY

    Grace Bishara Aswad of Grand Island, NY,  passed away on Sunday April 17, 2022, at her home under the care of her family and Hospice Buffalo.   
    Grace was born on Friday, April 13, 1934 in Niagara Falls, NY to the late Bishara and  Najla [Haick]  Bishara.   She was the eldest of five children and loved caring for her younger siblings and  enjoyed working in her parents’ store on Ontario Avenue in Niagara Falls.   In 1955, Grace graduated from Niagara Falls High School and gained employment at National Carbon as an administrative secretary.
    On February 10, 1957, Grace married the love of her life, the late Very Reverend Fr. George (Richard) Aswad, he passed away in January of 2014.   Together, they bought a plot of land and built their first home on Sandy Beach Rd. on Grand Island.  Over the years, Grace and Richard built two other homes on Grand Island, where they raised their family of five daughters, 10 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren .
    Grace was a faithful and devout Orthodox Christian.   She was an integral member of St. George Orthodox Church in Niagara Falls where her husband served as the priest for 35 years.  Grace was known as “Khourieh,” a title reserved for a priest’s wife, and cared deeply for her parish community.  Grace was the choir director at St. George for 60 years, taught Sunday School, and directed several children’s musical programs. Children brought Grace endless joy and she loved sharing her musical talents with them.  Grace was instrumental in the development of the Sacred Music Institute for the Antiochian Orthodox Archdiocese of North America and was the choir director for the Archdiocese Convention choirs.  She was the recipient of the Antiochian Gold Medal of Merit.   She was crowned Queen of Midwest SOYO and was an officer and member of the Antiochian Women of North America.
    Grace had a beautiful voice and was a professional singer within her community.  she sang for the troops and participated in local musical theater productions.  She loved to perform and her performance of “Oh Holy Night” on Christmas Eve was a beloved tradition at St. George Church.
    Grace was also a three-time cancer survivor and an active participant in the Grand Island Relay for Life.  She performed at the Relay for Life several times and was chosen as the Honorary Survivor in 2016.
    Grace loved her family and friends dearly and found the most joy in being surrounded by and serving those she loved. Her love knew no limits. She embodied joy and brought happiness and a smile to all who knew or met her.
    Grace is survived by her five daughters, Lynn (George) Wood, Laura (Jeff) Colyer, Louise (William) Snyder, Lisa (Michael) Dudley, and Lana Dudley, ten  blessed  grandchildren Jessica (Tracy), Jeana, Matthew, Andrew, Ryan (of blessed memory), Rachel, Kara, Eric, Amber, and Alyssa, two great grandchildren, Andrew and Jeffrey, a sister Judy (late Jack) Manoukian, a brother Kamil (Carol) Bishara, also many nieces and nephews.
    She was the sister of the late William (late Diane) and Joseph Bishara.
    Her family will be present on Sunday from 3-7 PM at  St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church, 1073 Saunders Settlement Road, Niagara Falls, NY,  where Funeral Services will be held on  Bright Monday at 10 AM with Fr. Raphael officiating.
    Flowers are gratefully declined.   Memorials may be made in Grace’s name to St. George Antiochian Church.
    Interment in Riverdale Cemetery, Lewiston, NY.
    Arrangements were made through the RHONEY FUNERAL HOME, Niagara Falls, NY.

    NIAGARA FALLS — William Bishara, 78, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away on January 2, 2014, at his residence. Born in Niagara Falls, NY, he was the son of the late Bishara W. and Najla (Haick) Bishara.

    Bill graduated from Niagara Falls High School in 1953 and received an Associate's degree from Erie Community College. He also attended Rochester Institute of Technology and the State University of New York at Buffalo. On February 8, 1959, he married his loving wife, Ann D. (Medzadourian) Bishara at St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Niagara Falls, NY. They were also married at St. George's Orthodox Church during their honeymoon in Miami, FL. Together they were active members at St. George's Antiochian Orthodox Church in Niagara Falls, NY. He was also a choir member.

    William served in the United States Army Reserves for six years. He began his work career as a draftsman with the Carborundum Company in 1962 (now Unifrax I LLC), and retired in 2001 as the manager of Application Engineering, a position he held for more than 20 years. During his career of 39 years, Bill was instrumental in the development of many new products and applications for high temperature insulation, which are currently used across a wide variety of industries. In this regard, he was instrumental in Unifrax I LLC being awarded several patents. He received a Lifetime Achievement Award and the Friend of the Field Award twice during his years of service. Several of the current management team members at Unifrax I LLC began their careers under Bill's leadership and benefited greatly from his professionalism, work ethic and mentoring. Bill's passion and dedication to all that he did brought the best out of everyone he touched and made them better people.

    Bill took great pride in his family and enjoyed entertaining them. He also adored his grandchildren and cherished the moments he spent with them. He was honored to serve as a Scout Master for his children's Boy Scout Troop #837. He also enjoyed Archery and was once ranked third in the state. Bill also was an inspired inventor and liked to build small gadgets to solve everyday problems. Bill will also be remembered for his quick wit and sense of humor.

    In addition to his wife of 54 years, Mr. Bishara is survived by his three children, William J. Bishara, David M. (Susan L.) Bishara, Michael D. (Jennifer L.) Bishara; five grandchildren, Zachary N. Sheldon, Jonathon W. Bishara, Daniel J. Bishara, Ethan Sheldon Bishara and Abigail Ann Bishara; four siblings, Grace Aswad (Very Rev. George R. Aswad), Joseph Bishara, Kamil D. Bishara (fiance Carol Bauda), Judy (Jack) Manoukian; nieces and nephews, Lynn (Dr. George) Wood, Laura (Jeffrey) Colyer, Louise (William) Snyder, Lisa (Michael) Dudley, Lana (Paul) Dudley, Christina (Tony) Redman, Brian (Janet) Manoukian, Adam (Tara) Manoukian, Matthew Bishara and Andrew Bishara; cousins, Nadeem & Joanne Kenien, David Kenien, Edward Kenien, Clara Bishara, Daniel & Dr. Mary Ann Bishara and Norman & Mary Ann Bishara; close friends, Ron Lonero, Brian and Michelle Bradley. He is also survived by several great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins. William was predeceased by his Aunt Najme (Haick) and Uncle Norman Kenien; Uncle Nick and Aunt Helen (Ashker) Haick and his adored Soft-Coated Wheaton Terrier, Molly.

    Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 5th from 2-4 & 7-9 PM at the M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY, where funeral services will begin on Monday, January 6th at 9:30 AM, followed by a funeral service at 10 AM in St. George Antiochian Orthodox Church, 1073 Saunders Settlement Road, Niagara Falls, NY, with Very Rev. Paul R. Solberg and Very Rev. George R. Aswad officiating. Interment in Riverdale Cemetery, Lewiston, NY. If desired, memorial donations may be made in William's memory to St. George's Antiochian Orthodox Church, Niagara County SPCA, American Heart Association or a charity of one's choice.
