    Lewis E. Blackley, 75, a desk
    lieutenant for the Town of Tonawanda
    police department for 40
    years, died Friday after a long
    illness, at Kenmore Mercy Hospital,
    Kenmore.
    He is survived by his widow,
    Myrtle K. Blackley of Kenmore.
    Son of John and Margaret Noble
    Blackley, Mr. Blackley was
    born Oct. 18, 1893 in Lockport.
    He retired from the Tonawanda
    police department three
    years ago. He was a member of
    the Town of Tonawanda Police
    Association, Captain and Lieu-
    tenants Association and the wes-
    tern New York State Police con-
    ference Association.
    Mr. Blackley was one of the
    first civilians to enlist in World
    War I from Lockport. He was
    a member of teh Society of First
    Divisons, M. J. Bronnchille Am-
    erican Legion Post 205. Ken-
    more, the Harry E. Crosby Vet-
    erans of Foreign Wars, 2472,
    Kenmore and the Ken-Ton Bar-
    racks 887, Veterans of World
    War 1, Kenmore.
    Besides his widow, he is
    survived by four sons, Lew-
    is K., Donald A., Bryant N. and
    Dennis C., all of Kenmore.
    He is also survived by three
    brothers; John C. and Harold N.
    of Lockport and Robert F. of Or-
    lando, Fla.
    Mr. Blackley was the brother
    of the late William Blackley,
    Mildred Blackley Savigny, Eth-
    el Blackley Dunn and Beulah
    Blackley Paladino.
    Funeral services will be held
    Monday at Lester Wedekindt fu-
    neral Home, 3290 Delaware
    Ave., Kenmore. Friends may
    call from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m.

    Lewis E. Blackley. a retired
    desk lieutenant with 38 years of
    s e r v i c e to the Town of
    Niagara Falls Blvd, Tonawanda Police Depart-
    ment. died yesterday at the age
    of 75 in Kenmore Mercy
    Hospital.
    Mr Blacklev, who resided at
    104 Zimmerman Blvd., Town of
    Tonawanda, retired in 1964. A
    founder and the first executive
    secretary of the Western New
    York State Police Conference
    Association, he served in that
    office for 25 years.
    While employed in the town
    police ranks, he served as act-
    ing chief at various times. He
    was a life member of the Cap-
    tains and Lieutenants Associa-
    tion of Erie County and also be-
    longed to the Town of Tona-
    wanda Police Association.
    A native of Lockport, Mr.
    Blackley was a graduate of
    Lockport High School, where
    he was a member of the foot-
    ball team. He later served with
    the First Division, Army Engi-
    neers, during World War I, and
    received a Purple Heart after
    being wounded in France.
    A charter member of Ken-Ton
    Barracks 887. World War I Veterans.
    Mr Blackley also was a
    life member of Milton Brounshidle
    Post 205. American Legion.
    Town of Tonawanda Mr

    Blackley, of 106 Caledonia
    Street, passed away suddenly
    Tuesday, April 15, 1969. He is
    survived by his wife, Margar-
    et O'Hearn Blackley, four bro-
    thers, Louis Blackley, of Ken-
    more, N.Y., John Blackley and
    Harold Blackley, both of Lock-
    port, N.Y., and Robert Black-
    let, of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.,
    also several nieces and neph-
    ews. Friends may call at the
    Funeral Home of Taylor & Rey-
    nolds, Niagara at North Tran-
    sit Street, where funeral servic-
    es will be held at 8:30 o'clock
    Friday morning and at St. Pat-
    rick's Church at 9:00 o'clock.
    Interment will be in Cold Spring
    Cemetery. The rosary will be
    recited at 8L00 o'clock Thurs-
    day evening.

    William L. Blackley, 73, of 106
    Caledonia St., Lockport, presi
    dent of the Lockport Fire Commission
    for several years, died
    unexpectedly Tuesday afternoon.
    Mr. Blackley was pronounced
    dead by a family physician af-
    ter suffering a heart attack at
    the Veterans of Foreign Wars
    Post 2535 Caledonia St.
    Mr. Blackley, born Sept. 24,
    1895 in Lockport, a son of John
    and Margaret Noble Blackley,
    had been a lifelong resident of
    the city.
    He retired Aug.. 8, 1960 from
    the New York State Department
    of Highways after 27 years of
    service. At the time of his re-
    tirement he was head of the sign
    maintenance department. Near-
    ly half of his years with the
    highway department were spent
    operating snow plows and other
    heavy equipment in Niagara
    County.
    He served on the fire board
    for 13 years and was elected
    president in January, 1983, re-
    tiring from the board Nov. 2,
    1966. He also had served on the
    Lockport Board of Health and
    as a 1st Ward Democratic chairman.
    Mr. Blackley attended Lock-
    port schools and began his
    working career at Simonds Saw
    & Steel Co., now Simonds Steel
    Division, Wallace - Murray
    Corp. After four years there, he
    entered the Army and was dis-
    charged in 1919.
    He also worked in a garage
    and an auto parts store for 14
    years before joining the high-
    way department.
    He was a member of St. Pat
    rick's R.C. Church and a 50-year
    member of B. Leo Dolan Post
    410, American Legion.
    Surviving are his widow, the
    former Miss Margaret
    O'Hearn; four brothers, Louis
    Blackley of Kenmore, John and
    Harold Blackley of Lockport and
    Robert Blackley of Ft. Lauderdale,
    Fla.; and several nieces
    and nephews.
    Friends may call at the Tay-
    lor & Reynodsl Funeral Home,
    Niagara at N. Transit St., Lock-
    port. Services will be held at
    8:30 a.m. Friday at the funeral
    home and at 9 in St. Patrick's
    Church.
    The Rosary will be recited at
    8 p.m. tomorrow. Burial will be
    in Cold Spring Cemetery.

    Ridgeview Mobile Court, Lockport
    - Olcott Road, formerly of
    5M93 W. Jackson St. Lockport,
    died unexpectedly Tuesday
    afternoon.
    The rescue squad of Lockport
    Fire Dept. was called at 3:25
    P.m. to the CIO Hall on Walnut
    Street, where Mr. Blackley was
    strcken. The resuscitator was
    used far 17 minutes with no
    results and Mr. Blackley was
    taken by emergency ambulance
    to Lockport Memorial Hospital,
    where he was pronounced dead
    on arrival.
    He was born Dec. 25, 1900,
    in Lockport, a son of John J.
    and Margaret (Noble) Blackley.
    He retired in 1966 from the
    s h i p p i n g department at
    Harrison Radiator Division,
    General Motors Corp., where he
    had been employed for 30 years.
    Mr. Blackley resided for
    many years at the W. Jackson
    St. address where he was wellknown
    for hs extensive Iris
    gardens. He recently moved to
    the mobile court.
    He was a member of Mount
    Olive Lutheran Church, New
    York State Iris Society, Lockport
    Senior Citizens, and Parks
    and Tree Commission of the
    City of Lockport. He was secretary
    of the Retiree's Chapter of
    Amalgamated Local 686, Un:ted
    Auto Workers.
    Surviving are his widow, Mrs.
    Esther (Siebert) Blackley;. two
    daughters and four sons, John
    C. Blackley Jr., Mrs. James
    (Lois) Gardner and Mrs. Peter
    (Jo Ann) Lagoda, all of Lockport;
    Arthur Brauer of Clarence

    Robert F. Blackley Sr., 66, a
    native of Lockport, died Monday
    in Orlando, Fla., after a brief
    illness.
    He was bom in Lockport Oct
    23, 1903, and resided here for
    many years before moving to
    Auburn, N.Y *
    Most of his working life was
    spent as a manager with the
    S.S. Kresge Co., opening major
    stores in the United States and
    Puerto Rico.
    He served in World War II
    and attained the rank of captain
    in the U.S. Army.
    His home address in Orlando
    was 5215 Ashmeade Road.
    He is survived by his widow,
    Lquise Fennessey Blackley; a
    son, Robert F. Jr., of New York
    City; and two brothers, J o hn
    and Harold, both of Lockport.
    He was also a brother of the
    late William and Lewis, and
    was the third brother to die
    within the last six months.
    Services were held Thursday
    in Auburn. Burial was in St. Joseph's
    Cemetery there.

    In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Ruth Donna (James) Dunn; two sisters and three brothers. Those left to cherish his memory are his children, Roy Edward, Jr. of Warsaw, NY, John Thomas (Barbara) of Statesville, NC, Edwin Gordon (Mary) of Medina, NY and Kathlene Ann Hinman of Indore, WV; one sister, Ethel (Blackley) Stackiewitz of Orleans County. Also survived by eighteen grandchildren, Robert, Thomas, Melissa, Jamie, John Jr., Jason, Travis, Cathy, Christina, Amy, Roxanne, Katrina, Jaye, Amber, Holly, Ray Jr., Annie Ruth and Matthew; several great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; brothers and sisters-in-law.
    The family will conduct a memorial service at a later
