    Blood, one of the early pioneers of the county,
    died at Linden on Thursday morning
    last, aged 80 years. An interesting sketch
    of his life will be found elsewhere.

    BLOOD.-In Bethany, June 8th 1877, Nason

    Blood, Esq., aged 80 years 7 months and 4
    days.
    Mr. Blood was born In Haverhill, ???? county,
    N H., Nov. 4th, 1796. In Sept. 1811, his father
    and mother with a family of 8 children
    left the " Granite Hills," of N. H. to seek their
    fortunes In the then far off and remote wilderness
    country of Western New York. A heavy
    lumber wagon covered with sole, leather was
    the " Palace oar " In which they rode, and two
    yoke of well shod heavy oxen the engine
    which propelled their weary voyage of twenty-
    seven days. They arrived In Alexander,
    Oct 8th, 1811, all well, hale and hearty. Feb.
    28th, 1825, the subject of this notice married
    Miss Rhode Everest, of Bethany, who died
    June 8th, 1840. Oct. 1st, 1840, he married Mrs.
    Eunice West widow of Hiram West, of Bethany,
    who survives him. He has been a resident
    of Bethany 55 years and of the county
    38 years. He was an interested member of
    the Pioneer Association of this county, and
    regretted exceedingly not being able to attend
    Its last meeting. He was the eldest of 9
    children and t he l a s t to depart this life.
    In the war of 1812, commonly called the
    " Last war," although a mere youth he volun.
    teered and was accepted as a substitute for
    Peter Putnam, of Bethany, who was drafted.
    He was In only one action-the Captain of the
    company seeing him write his name one day
    compelled him afterwards to act as clerk of
    the company, which situation he often said
    he accepted not very reluctantly. He was a
    fine scholar, a splendid penman,and thorough
    business man, and w a s called to all various
    offices of trust In his town and county ; the
    duties of which he discharged with neatness,
    correctness and dispatch.
    His funeral waa held at the Baptist church
    at Bethany Center, o n Saturday, June, 30th, at
    1 o'clock P. M. Rev. B. Hunt of Alexander,
    preached an eloquent and Interesting discourse
    founded on Paul's second Epistle to
    the Corinthians, 5th chapter and first verse.
    Thus one b y one are the Pioneer Landmarks
    of Genesse sorely being removed,

    On Sunday morning about 9 o'clock
    Oscar W. Blood, a well known resident
    of Bethany was found dead by
    his son Charles at his home a mile
    east of Linden.
    Mr. Blood's wife was away from
    home at the time, visiting friends in
    Middleport, and during her absence
    he had been taking his meals with
    his son Charles, who resides across
    the street. When last seen alone
    on Saturday evening Mr. Blood appeared
    in his usual health and made
    no complaint of feeling ill.
    At 9 o'clock Sunday morning Chas.
    Blood's little daughter went over to
    see her grandfather, but returned in
    a few minutes saying she could not
    get in the house. Charles Blood then
    went over and falling to get any response
    forced his way into the house.
    He found his father lying dead in the
    doorway of his sleeping room.
    Coroner Ryan of Oakfield was summoned.
    He determined that death
    was caused by apoplexy and that Mr.
    Blood undoubtedly was stricken soon
    after he retired on Saturday evening
    and arising fell dead after talcing
    a few steps.
    Mr. Blood was born in 1843 in the
    house where he died and where he
    always had lived. He was a son of
    Nason Blood, a Bethany pioneer, and
    vas the last survivor of a family of
    five. He was married to Miss Mary
    Fastland of Bethany on May 9, 1867,
    and besides his wife and son Charles
    he is survived by two sons, Waller
    of Batavia and Monroe of Warsaw
    ind three daughters, Mrs. Eunice E.
    Carson of Batavia, Mrs. Jessie Kidder
    of Alexander and Miss Mary J.
    Blood of Rochester. He also leaves
    ten grandchildren. Mr. Biuod was
    held in the highest esteem by a large
    circle of friends. He was a charter
    member and past master of the Bethany
    grange and had been assessor
    and held several other town offices.
    The funeral was held from the
    house on Tuesday afternoon at two
    o'clock, and was conducted by the
    Rev. Harry M. Wright, pastor of the
    Batavia Universalist church.

    Mrs. Jessie Blood Kidder, 85,
    died at her home, Broadway Rd.
    Alexander, at 8:25 p. m. April 30,
    1956.
    Mrs. Kidder was born in* Beth
    any, N. Y., May 13, 1870, daughter
    of the late Oscar and Mary East
    land Blood. She was married to
    the late Earl Kidder. She was a
    member of the Alexander Meth
    odist Church, the Willing Work
    ers Society of the church, Gold
    Sheaf of Tonawanda Valley
    Grange and a charter member of
    the Home Bureau.
    Surviving Mrs. Kidder are three
    daughters, Mrs. James Erwin of
    Novi, Mich., and Mrs. Edward
    Heidenreich and Mrs. Lyle Brown
    both of Alexander: one son, Lee
    S. Kidder of Royal Oak, Mich.,
    eleven grandchildren and twenty
    great grandchildren; also one" sis
    ter, Miss Mary J. Blood of Roch
    ester.
    Funeral services were held at
    2 p. m.. Thursday from the Reding
    Funeral home with Rev. Keith
    Dewey officiating and burial in
    Alexander Cemetery.

    Blood, 76, Galloway Rd. farmer,
    will be in the Bohm Mortuary at
    2 p. m. tomorrow. He died Friday
    (Dec. 24, 1948) in his home after
    being in failing health for 2 years.
    Surviving are three sons, Floyd.
    Elba; Burton, LeRoy, and Horace,
    Galloway Rd.; two daughters, Mrs.
    Ethel Beechler, Alexander and Mrs.
    Donald Morse, Batavia; 24 grandchildren,
    and 12 great-grandchildren.

    Monroe T Blood, of 43 Washington
    street .Warsaw, passed away
    suddenly Monday morning,
    January 9th at 2:30 a. m. He had
    been employed by the Erie Railroad
    as telegraph operator and. at
    the time of his retirement in
    March 1948 was chief train dis-
    patcher. He was born in Linden
    on September 9, 1880, the son of
    Oscar M. and Mary Eastland
    Blood and in 1904 he married Beu-
    lah Monroe who survive him. He
    also leaves a daughter, Mrs. John
    Wheeler of Springfield, Ohio, and
    two sisters, Mrs. Jessie Kidder of
    Alexander and Miss Mary J Blood
    of Rochester. The funeral was
    held at the Weeks Funeral Home
    on Wednesday, January 11th at 3
    p.m. with the burial in the War-
    saw cemetery. The Rev. Thomas
    E. Asbury, pastor of the United
    church, of which he was a mem-
    ber, officiated. Mr. Blood was also
    a member of the Order of Tele-
    graphers. He had lived in Warsaw
    forty-five years and three months.

    Mrs. George Strasenburgh
    Mrs. Marion E. Carson Strasen-
    burgh of Morton, formerly of Ba-
    tavia, died on Wednesday, May 29,
    1940 at the Park Avenue Hospital
    in Rochester, where she had been
    confined for seven weeks.

    Mrs. Strasenburgh was born at
    Bethany on December 20, 1902, a
    daughter of Theodore and Eunice
    Blood Carson. She resided in Batavia
    until 1920 when she moved to
    Rochester and later to Morton. She
    was married to George Strasen-
    burgh in February, 1935.
    Surviving Mrs. Strasenburgh, be-
    sides her husband and mother, are
    an infant son, sidney George; a
    brother, Charles W. Carson of Roch-
    ester, formerly boys secretary of
    the Batavia Y.M.C.A. and several
    uncles, aunts and cousins.
    Funeral services for Mrs. Strasen-
    burgh were held at the Morton Bap-
    tist Church Friday afternoon. The
    Rev. A. Gillies officiated. Interment
    was in the Morton Cemetery.
