    NIAGARA FALLS, Ont.-Funeral
    services will be conducted on
    Monday for Frederick William
    Bowman, 68, a retired employe of
    the Carborundum Co., Niagara
    Falls, N. Y., who died at his home,
    2100 Drummond Rd., Friday (Aug.
    24, 1956) after a long illness.
    Mr. Bowman was bom in this
    city the son of the late William
    and Jane (Newman)." Bowman,
    pioneer members of this community.
    He spent his lifetime in this
    city and was an elder of the Drummond
    Hill Presbyterian Church;
    He was active in all organizations
    of the church and was a representative
    in the presbytery.
    Mr. Bowman was a veteran member
    of Cataract Lodge No. 103
    IOOF. He was a past president :Of
    the Golden Hour Club and was
    a member of the Carborundum
    25 Year Club.
    He worked for the Carborundum
    Co. for 27 years and retired
    four years ago as a lathe operator.
    One of his three sons. Crafts
    man Leroy Bowman, was killed
    in an accident in British Columbia
    while serving with the Royal Canadian
    Engineers during World War
    II. Mr. Bowman's sister, Mrs.
    Maude Terryberry died in 1940.
    Surviving are his wife, the
    former Miss Ella M. Wilson; his
    daughter, Mrs. Helen. M. Catherwood,
    this city; two sons, Robert
    W. Bowman, this city and Lloyd
    G. Bowman, Thorold: four brothers,
    the Rev. C. H. Bowman,
    Maple; Owen S. Bowman, Chippawa;
    Albert Gordon and Leslie
    L. Bowman, this city. He also is
    survived by six grandchildren.
    Friends may call at the Morse
    and Son Chapel where funeral
    services will be conducted at 2
    p.m. Monday. Burial will be in
    Lundy's Lane Cemetery.

    NIAGARA FALLS. Ont-Mr. and
    Mrs. Frederick Bowman, of 2110
    Drummond road, have been informed
    that their son. Private O.
    Leroy Bowman. 22, is missing and
    believed dead following a vehicle
    accident on May 23 about 57 miles
    east of Revelstoke, B.C.
    Private Bowman was doing convoy
    duty with Canadian army troops
    when the vehicle on which he was
    riding skidded on a bridge and
    plunged into a river below. Apparently
    his bodr has not been recovered
    Private Bowman Joined the Canadian
    Ordnance corps He trained
    at Toronto and Barriefield and then
    was sent to west coast, where he
    has been since September. 1942.
    He was born in Niagara Falls and
    educated at Barker street school
    and the Niagara Falls Collegiate
    Vocational school. Prior to Joining
    the army. Private Bowman was
    assistant scoutmaster of No. 1
    troop. Niagara Falls Boy Scouts. He
    was deeply Interested In Scout work.
    and devoted much of his time to
    It. He was employed by the Oneida
    Community Company, Ltd.
