Lockport NY Union Sun Journal - 11/6/1959

In September a Lockport woman
was reunited with a daughter
she had not seen in 58 years.
They had a happy reunion and
the daughter, Mrs. Gladys Hud
son, returned to her home in
Ireland a month later.
On Thursday (Nov. 5, 1959) the
mother, Mrs Clementina F.
Braddell, died at the home of
another daughter, Mrs. Ena Hatt,
77 Elmwood Ave. She was 85.
Born Jan. 29, 1874 in Ireland,
she was the daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Francis Furlong. Mrs.
Braddell came to this country
in 1901 with her husband, George
R. Braddell, and a daughter, now
Mrs. Arthur B. Smith of Lewiston.
She left her daughter Gladys,
who was three years old, in Ireland
because her grandmother
could not bear to part with her.
She came to Lockport soon after
her arrival in this country.
Mr. Braddell died in 1918 and
Mrs. Braddell raised the family.
After living in Tonawanda since
1918, she came here to live with
her daughter about three years
ago.
Survivors Include two other
daughters, Mrs. Eileen Powell,
Boston, Mass., and Mrs. Eva Ripka,
of Center Hall, Pa.; three
sons, Henry Braddell, North
Tonawanda; Walter Braddell,
Kenmore, and James Braddell,
Grand Island; 32 grandchildren
and 37 great • grandchildren. She
was also the mother of the late
John R. Braddell.
Friends msy call from 2 to 5
in the afternoon and 7 to 9 in the
evening at the Prudden and
Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee
St., where funeral services
will be held Sunday afternoon at
2:30. The Rev. Gordon R. Bender,
pastor of the Lockport Gospel
Center, will officiate. Burial
will be in Glenwood Cemetery

53, of 58 Mullen St., died
Sunday (May 5, 1957) in Buffalo
General Hospital after an illness
of several months.
A native of Lockport, Mr. Braddell
resided in this city for the
last 40 years. He was employed
by the Buffalo Bolt Co. for 14
years as an expeditor. He was a
member of Salem Evangelical and
R e f o rm Church and of the
Eldredge Bicycle Club.
.Surviving are his wife, Dulcia
Helf BraddeH; a daughter, Mrs.
Richard Kosinski, Buffalo; a son,
John-R. Braddell Jr., at home;

p.m. Wednesday at the Roth
Puneral Home. Burial will be in
White Chapel Memorial ..Park
Cemetery.

Jeannine Frances Henry, born March 17, 1933 on a snowy Winter day to Arthur and Frances [Braddell] Smith, passed away to be with her loving Jesus Christ our loving Lord and savior on March 16, 2015, under the care of her family, close friends and Niagara Hospice. She attended Gaskill Jr. High, LaSalle Sr. High and graduated from Trott Vocational.

She was employed at Carborundum and later became a secretary at the Tuscarora Indian School and at Edward Town Jr. High School until her retirement. Mrs. Henry played softball for Carborundum and in the Tuscarora Baptist Church league. She then coached girls softball and played for the Tuscarora Women's basketball team, traveling throughout Canada and Western New York. She was an avid bowler in which she won a New York State doubles tournament. Upon her retirement she enjoyed the warmth of Bradenton, FL for 16 years at Palm Lake Estates where she developed many lasting friendships. She enjoyed planting flowers, reading, picture puzzles, baking and cooking family dinners. Mrs. Henry was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star 374 in Ransomville, NY and the Delta Kappa Gamma Society.

She is survived by her devoted husband of 60 years Chief Leo Henry, two daughters Sherry (Wayne) Printup and Heidi (Bill Luksic) Henry, one grandson Jesse (Desiree) Printup, two great grandchildren Meadow and River Printup, also many nieces, nephews and dear friends. Mrs. Henry was the sister of the late Albert, Robert, Herbert and Edna Seeloff and Arthur "Bud" Smith.

The family will be present on Wednesday from 2-4 & 6-8 PM, at the RHONEY FUNERAL HOME, 5893 Hoover Road, SANBORN, NY, where a prayer service will beheld at 7:30 PM. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 11:00 AM at the Tuscarora Baptist Church 2208 Mt. Hope Road, Sanborn, NY, with the Rev. Walter A. Printup, Jr. and Rev. Donald A. Robinson, Jr. officiating.

Memorials may be made in her name to Niagara Hospice, 4675 Sunset Dr. Lockport, NY 14094.
Internment in Mt. Hope Cemetery on the Tuscarora Nation.

former Tonawanda resident who died
Saturday in Phoenix, Ariz., the victim
of a motorcycle accident.
Son of the late John R. Braddell Sr.
he moved with his family to Scottsdale
in 1959. He was a member of the
Scottsdale United Congregational
Church, and a 1970 graduate of Phoenix
Union High School.
He is survived by his mother, Mrs.
Dulcie M. (Helf) Braddell and a sister,
Mrs. Richard (Beverly) Kosinski of
Phoenix.

Ray Hatt of Lockport, husband of the late Marianne Hatt entered into rest on Monday, June 29, 2020 in the Niagara Hospice House. He was born in Tonawanda, NY on March 14, 1930, the son of the late Burt and Ena Braddell Hatt. Ray served in the U.S. Army then worked as a equipment specialist for the Dept. of Army at Fort Belvoir, Virginia where he was awarded the sustained superior performance award and many commendations. Ray enjoyed bowling, baseball and loved all dogs. Brother of the late David Hatt, Lucy Ginty and Eveline Savigny. Also survived by 10 nieces and nephews. Graveside service will be held in Chestnut Ridge Cemetery on Wednesday, July 1, 2020 at 2 pm
