    LEWISTON - Bernice "Nellie" (Stoltz) Fischer, 83, of Saunders Settlement Road, died Saturday (April 17, 1999) in Mount St. Mary's Hospital. She was born Nov. 20, 1915, in Niagara Falls, the daughter of David and Jennie (Kline) Stoltz. Mrs. Fischer was a 1934 graduate of Niagara Falls High School. On Oct. 7, 1939, she married Lawrence G. Fisher of Niagara Falls. He predeceased her. A longtime resident of the Town of Lewiston, Mrs. Fischer was a member of the Niagara Falls Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, and her family had long historical ties to the area. Her great-grandfather, Matthias Kline, was a captain in the' New York State Militia during the War of 1812. Colonial Village is built on land originally owned by the Kline family, and at the time of her death, Mrs. Fischer lived in a house that was built by her husband on a portion of Kline land. From 1935 to 1940, she worked in the billing department at the Carborundum Co. She and several of her former co-workers kept in close touch for four decades, during which the “Carbo Girls� met for lunch regularly. Later, she was a volunteer in the office of Lewiston No. 9 (Colonial Village) Elementary School, becoming its first secretary in 1954. She worked for the Niagara Wheatfield Central School District from its founding in 1955 until her retirement in 1978, holding elementary, high school and junior high school secretarial positions before moving to the business office at the district's Central Office in 1969. She was elected to the Niagara-Wheatfield Board of Education in 1978, serving until 1982. Mrs. Fischer was a longtime member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, and had served on the church council. She was a charter member and past president of both the Ladies Auxiliary of Lewiston Fire Co. No.2 and the Ladies Auxiliary of the Niagara County Volunteer Firemen's Association. She also was a member of the Flagler Chapter 355 of the Order of the Eastern Star, the Sunshine Senior Citizens Club, and the American Association of Retired Persons. Family members said she was a serious and dedicated bridge enthusiast who played several times weekly, and her 80th birthday celebration was organized as a card and game party. She is survived by two daughters, Gail Hubbard of Centreville, Va., and Nancy Kessler of West Seneca; three grandchildren; three step grandchildren; and four step great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today and Tuesday at the Otto Redanz Funeral Home LaSalle Park Chapel, 2215 Military Road, Town of Niagara. The Rev. Dwight Wascom will conduct services at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1010 Michigan Ave., Niagara Falls. Interment will be in Riverdale Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1010 Michigan Ave., Niagara Falls, N.Y. 14305; or to the Nellie Fund to assist Niagara Falls area persons with special health care needs, c/o Warren Kahn, Esq., P.O.
