    Coonrod, April 18-Mrs. Ellen
    Bray Nichols, 30, wife of Roscoe
    W. Nichols, died early this morning
    at a Rome hospital after an
    illness of three weeks.
    She was born at Clyde, March
    25, 1910, a daughter of the late
    Melvin and Hattie Colney Bray.
    At Sodus in 1927 she was married
    to Mr. Nichols. They lived at New
    London before coming here a year
    and a half ago. Mrs. Nichols was
    a member of the Methodist
    Church.
    Surviving besides her husband,
    are two daughters, Shirley E. and
    Betty G., and a son, Roscoe jr.,
    all at home; two sisters, Mrs. Edward
    Cooper and Mrs. Russell Mc-
    Williams, both of Ogdensburg;
    three brothers, Henry Bray, Copenhagen;
    Warden Bray, Depeyster;
    and Mtelvin Bray, Lewisburg.
    Funeral services will be held at
    the funeral home of Griffin &
    Aldridge, Rome, on Saturday at 3
    p. m. Interment will be made in
    Rome Cemetery.

    pronounced dead on arrival
    this . morning at Carthage
    Area Hospital. He had been
    ill one year.
    The funeral will be-at 2,
    p.m. Wednesday at the Bossuot
    Funeral Home, Rev. Donald
    C. Allnatt, pastor, United
    Church of Copenhagen, officiating.
    Burial will be in Riverside
    Cemetery, Copenhagen.
    , Friends, may call from 3 to
    5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at
    the funeral home..
    Surviving are his widow,
    Mrs. Bonita Bary; three sons,
    Wesley, Pulaski, David, Copenhagen,
    and Gilbert, Oswego;
    two daughters, Mrs. Darrell
    (Carol) Rader, Rockville,
    Md., and Bonnie, at home, 13
    grandchildren, and, nieces
    and nephews.
    Born April 2, 1912, at, Edwards,
    a son. of Melvin and
    Harriett Colony Bray, he was
    educated in schools in the
    Natural Bridge vicinity and
    married Bonita Carpenter
    He had operated farms in
    the Copenhagen area most o f
    hs married life and had been
    a bus driver for the Carthage
    Centrar .'School system until
    retiring a year ago due to
    health.
    He was a former .member
    of the Copenhagen fire department,
    a member and past
    noble grand of the Copenhagen
    Odd Fellows Lodge.

    Melvin J. Bray, 52, of 804
    Bradley street, an employe
    of the St. Regis Paper com-
    pany, died this morning at
    2:35 in Mercy hospital where
    he had been a patient since
    Nov. 16.
    Mr. Bray had been in ill
    heallth since suffering a cor-
    onary thrombosis four years
    ago but had been able to
    work most of the time until
    entering the hospital.
    Funeral will be Friday
    morning at 11 at the Simpson
    funeral home with Rev. W.
    Russell Clark, pastor of As-
    bury Methodist church, offici-
    ating. Committal services
    will be at 1:30 p.m. at the
    South Edwards cemetery,,
    South Edwards. Friends may
    call at the funeral home this
    eveningn from 7 to 10 and
    Wednesday and Thursday
    from 2 to 5 and 7 to 10 p.m.
    Surviving Mr. Bray are
    three sons, Roger L.,
    165 Mechanic street; Melvin
    L., Watertown, R. D. 3,, and
    Lawrence G.,, serving aboard
    the U.S.S. Brinkley Bass off
    South Viet Nam' two
    daughters, Mrs. Donald (Ha-
    zel) Hewitt, Rutland Center,
    and Mrs. Glenn (Clarice)
    Beirman,, Herrings; two
    brothers, Henry, Copenhag-
    en, and Warden,, Depeyster;
    a sister, Mrs. Russell (Har-
    riet) McWilliams, Ogdens-
    burg; a half-brother, Basil
    Bray, address unknown; a
    half-sister,, Mrs. Oscar Mur-
    dock, Natural Bridge, and
    seven grandchildren.
    Mr. Bray was born April
    7, 1913, at Rossie, a son of
    Melvin and Hattie Coloney
    Bray. He attended schools
    in the Rossie vicinity. He
    married Miss Dorothy Ellis.
    The marriage ended in di-
    vorce years ago.
    Mr. Bray served in World
    War II with the U.S. army.
    He had been employed for a
    number of years as a boiler
    room operator at the Car-
    thage mill of the St. Regis
