    Notes:

Maria Miklitsch (Lipiano), 74, of Lewiston, NY, passed away peacefully on January 30, 2022, surrounded by her beloved family. Born in Niagara Falls, NY, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Mary Lipiano (Sicurella).
Maria was raised in Niagara Falls, NY where she attended St. Joseph’s grammar school and Madonna high school, class of 1965. She received degrees from SUNY Geneseo and Buffalo State College. Maria married the love of her life, Frank Miklitsch.  For almost 50 years, they were side-by-side and enjoyed raising their daughter, Nicole Brockway (Miklitsch).
Maria was a teacher in the Niagara Falls district for over 34 years.  Robert Frost wrote, “I am not a teacher, but an awakener.” The opportunity to positively influence her students was her passion and drive.  She also served as a teacher mentor and wrote many grants for the school district to hire and train new teachers.
Maria was a deeply faithful person and actively involved in St. Peter’s Church in Lewiston, NY. She loved her garden, traveling, and watching English movies. Above all, Maria especially enjoyed spending time with her family. She doted on them and was happiest when she was cooking meals filled with love for everyone to enjoy.
She is survived by her loving family including her husband Frank Miklitsch; her daughter Nicole (Dan) Brockway; her grandson Danny; her niece Tara (Michael) Henchbarger; her great-niece Avaliese, great-nephew Austin; as well as many cousins, extended family members, and wonderful friends. She was predeceased by her parents, Frank and Mary Lipiano and her sister and brother-in-law, Sharon and Gary Casten.
The family wishes to send their appreciation and gratitude to Silverado Memory Care in Thousand Oaks, CA for their kindness and attention to providing dignity to Maria and their family. If desired, donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, California Central Coast Chapter, 2580 East Main Street #201, Ventura, CA 93003 (www.alz.org/cacentralcoast).
