    Mrs. Blount, who resided at 547
    Meadow Drive. North Tonawanda for
    the past 13 years, died yesterday in
    DeGraff Memorial Hospital. She had
    moved to North Tonawanda after
    residing in Sanborn for 35 years.
    Survivors include two children. Earl
    F. Blount and Mrs. Lewis Miller, both
    of Ohio, two sisters, four grandchildren
    and one great-grandson.
    Mrs. Blount's parents, the late Earle
    and Emma Britton were pioneer
    settlers in Niagara Falls.

    TOWN OF NIAGARA - Grace M. (Britton) Proefrock, 86, of East Britton Drive, died Tuesday July 8, 1997) in Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center. She was born May 12, 1911, in Pittsburgh, the daughter of Samuel and Philimena (Lockner) Britton. she moved to the Town of Niagara when she was 5 years old. Mrs. Proefrock worked as a seamstress at the former Spirella Corset Co. in Niagara Falls for 15 years. She is survived by her husband, Wallace Proefrock; three daughters, Nancy Pfohl, Kathleen Chapin and Sally Frasca, all of Sanborn; four brothers, Philip Britton and John Britton, both of Niagara Falls, Harold Britton of Panama City, Fla., and Harry Britton of Satellite Beach, Fla.; two sisters, Lucille Martin of Lockport and Dorothy Fredericks of Wilson; eight grandchildren;. seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Her first husband, Angus Gray, died May 13, 1953. She was the sister of the late Earl Britton, Samual Britton, Helen Ganshaw Robinson and Lorraine Amsdill. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the DuBois Funeral Home, 2436 Niagara Road, Bergholz. Services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Niagara Falls Memorial Park Cemetery, Lewiston. Memorial contributions may be made to the National Kidney Foundation, 165 Genesee St., Buffalo, N.Y. 14203.

    He attended local schools and worked the family farm then served in the Korean War in the Army in 1953 as a Demolition Expert honorably discharged in 1955. He worked for Allied Chemical in Wilson starting in 1956 retiring after 25 years he also worked for Hamilton and Clark in his spare time. Ernest met Karen Walker in 1963 and they married July 25, 1964. He loved CB radios, hunting, fishing and spending time with family and friends, especially camp in Stuben County Town of Killbuck.
    Surviving besides his wife is children, Harold (Debbie) Ganshaw of Wilson, Linda Johnson of Wrights Corners, Darin Ganshaw of Wilson and Ernest W. Ganshaw of Sanborn. Also surviving are nine grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son, Ernest H. Ganshaw II; brother, Samuel (Ann) Ganshaw of Pennsylvania; and sister, Barbara Ganshaw.
    Visitation will be on Friday from 4-8 PM in the Hamilton and Clark Funeral Home, 270 Young Street, Wilson, where funeral services will be held on Saturday at 10 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Niagara Hospice or Ransomville Free Methodist Church.

Born in Niagara Falls, NY on March 24, 1942; daughter of the late Angus and Grace (Britton) Gray. Nancy was a long time active member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Sanborn, where she served on the Altar Guild, quilters group, the archive group, and taught Sunday School. She was also a member of the Sanborn Seniors, and several craft clubs. Nancy enjoyed making crafts, baking- especially chocolate chip cookies, and the time spent with her family. Before retirement, she worked at a former restaurant in Newfane, "The Dairy", and the former Pekin Market.Survivors include two children, Jennifer (William) Baird, and Kevin (Gina) Pfohl; asister, Kathleen (Ralph) Chapin; and five grandchildren, Blair Pfohl, Jack, Lily and Sadi Baird, and Lola Pfohl.Predeceased by her husband, Lawrence P. Pfohl on April 11, 2024. They were married on June 17, 1967; a sister, Sally; and step-father, Wally Proefrock.Friends may call at the DuBois Funeral Home, 2436 Niagara Road, (Bergholz) in Wheatfield, on Sunday (May 5) from 2-5 p.m. Services will be conducted by the Rev. Kurt Jensen, on Monday (May 6) at 10:00 a.m. in St. Peter's Lutheran Church, 6168 Walmore Road, Sanborn, NY 14132. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.     She was a lifelong resident of Sanborn. Sally was a Nurse's Aide for many years (employed & volunteered). She gave peace to many with her gift of taking care of others when they were ready to go to the Lord. Sally was also a long-time member of the Sanborn Area Historical Society. She also loved to ring the bell for the Salvation Army every year.

    Her first husband was Michael Filer Sr. and she was pre-deceased by her second husband, Vincent P. Frasca. She is survived by sons, Michael (Michelle) Filer, Jr. of Shinglehouse, PA, Timothy Janet Beenau) Filer of Sanborn, NY; daughters, Diane (Filer) DeArmond of Niagara Falls, NY, Donna Filer of Shinglehouse, PA, Debra (Filer) (Arnie) Brown of Horseheads, NY; including Ricky Gray who was like a son to Sally and considered a part of the family; eight grandchildren; six great- grandchildren; her loving sisters, Nancy (Larry) Pfohl of Pekin, NY and Kathy (Ralph) Chapin of Sanborn, NY; along with many nieces & nephews.

    A Memorial Service will be held onFriday, January 8, 2016 at 11:00 am at the Faith Community Church of the Nazarene, 3520 Saunders Settlement Road, Sanborn, NY. A reception will follow at the Sanborn Fire Hall located at 5811 Buffalo Street, Sanborn, NY.

    Connie was born April 14, 1942 in Wilson, the daughter of the late Seymour "Pat" and Lucille (Britton) Martin. She lived most of her life in Wilson before moving to Newfane ten years ago. Connie had worked on the Assembly Line at Harrison Radiator from 1962 to 1967. On July 22, 1975 she married Frank Salmeri. Frank predeceased her in 1986. Connie was a past President of the American Legion B. Leo Dolan Post Ladies Auxiliary in Lockport.
    She is survived by her children, Harold Wollaber (Stacy Shimshack) of the Town of Cambria, Carl Wollaber of Lockport, Patti Sorrento (John Kos) of DuBois, PA, and Michelle (Joel) Hare of Newfane; her brothers, Ronald (Molly) and Pat (Micki) Martin; her sisters, Karen (Richard) Bohn and Cherri Potocki; six grandchildren and two great grandchildren. She was predeceased by a sister, Joyce Kos, and a brother, Jim Martin.

    Susie attended local schools and graduated from Niagara Falls High School in 1956. She worked during the 1960’s in the circulation department at the Niagara Gazette and later was employed with Seager & Son Plumbing as their office manager from 1970 - 2005.
    She was a lifelong resident of the Town of Niagara where she was named the Sesquicentennial Queen in 1962.  Susie was an active member of the Hope Lutheran Ladies Guild and served as their president for many years.  Susie enjoyed bowling, knitting, crocheting and was an avid Buffalo Bills fan.  Above all she enjoyed spending time with her family.
    She is survived by three daughters, Lynn (Collins) Beach (Glenn), Lori (Anderson) Strasburg (Bob Corsaro) and Leslie (Anderson) Yates (Rauf Yates), six grandchildren, Tyler Beach, Tara Beach, Nicole Corsaro, Devon Strasburg, Adrianna Corsaro and Gavin Yates, four siblings, Barbara (Nelson) Dockstader, Robert (Kathleen) Britton, James (Connie) Britton and Lawrence Britton and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
    Visitation will be on Sunday from 3-7 p.m. at the M.J.     Joan Loraine Amsdill Zimmerman, 74 of Lockport, NY, Joanie was sub shop manager for 45 years in Lockport. Born April 30, 1941 in Lewiston, NY, the daughter of George Sr. and Loraine Amsdill, Joan was married for 56 years to the late Robert C. Zimmerman; mother of Mark (Brenda) Zimmerman and Julie Ann (Floyd Staats) Zimmerman; four grandchildren, Marky and Mitchy Zimmerman, Amanda Farina (Kevin) Mitchell and the late Slayter Zimmerman-Staats, Great Grandma of Korban Mitchell; sister of George Amsdill, Jr. and many loved nieces, nephews and great niece and nephew Ali Amsdill and Christopher Amsdill.

    Joanie loved to attend and volunteer at the Challenger Sports League functions and knitted blankets with "Helping Hands", a group of volunteers from The Village Mobile Home Park.     George A. Amsdill, Jr., age 74 of Lewiston NY, died Monday November 7, 2016 in Mt. St. Mary's Hospital in Lewiston after a lengthy illness.


    George was born October 26, 1942 in Lewiston, the son of the late George A. Sr., and Loraine (Britton) Amsdill and was a 1960 graduate of Lewiston-Porter High School. A Vietnam Veteran, he served in the U.S. Army from March of 1964 to his honorable discharge in March of 1967. George spent 2 years in Japan as a Military Policeman and was the recipient of the National Defense Service Medal. He devoted his life to serving the Village of Lewiston from 1967 to 2003 when he retired as Deputy Superintendent of Public Works.


    George was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge # 584 in Lewiston, and a former member of the Ransomville F&AM Lodge # 551. He enjoyed hunting in Alleghany County for many years.


    He is survived by his children, Anne, Harold, George H., Ernie J., Dennis P., and Scott D. Amsdill; his grandchildren, Alexandria, Christopher, and Olivia Amsdill; and a great grandson, Christopher Amsdill, Jr. a niece and nephews, Mark and Julie Zimmerman. He was predeceased by a sister, Joan Zimmerman.


    Friends may call at HARDISON FUNERAL HOME, N. Fourth & Ridge Streets, Lewiston on Friday from 3 - 7 PM. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, November 12, at 10:00 AM in the funeral home, with the Rev. Thomas Mason officiating.
