Word has been received here of
of; the death of Mrs. Luella Brock,
83, in San Diego, Calif., after in
juries received in a fall at her
home. Mrs. Brock was the widow
of Albert H. Brock, who died in
1948. They were residents of North
Tonawanda until Mrs Brock
moved to California in 1949. Bur-
ial will be Friday in San Diego.

Walter M. Brock, 58. of 884
Walck Rd., died last night in Buffalo
General Hospital after a short
illness.
A lifelong resident of North Tonawanda,
Mr. Brock was employed
at International Paper Co. 25 years
and was treasurer of Local 241,
International Brotherhood of Papermakers.
He was a member of
North Tonawanda Church of Christ.
He is survived by his wife, Hazel
Carley Brock; two sons, Richard
W. and Ray A. Brock, both of
North Tonawanda; two daughters,
Mrs. Dolard LeGross of Thorold,
Ont., and Mrs. Chester Barraclough
of Tonawanda; his mother, Mrs.
Louella Brock of Los Angeles; two

Mrs. Robert L. Luke Sr., 46 Niagara
St., North Tonawanda, has a recipe
for mothers who mourn.
It has worked for her. She says it
will work for others. She puts service
to others above herself.
In June, Mrs. Luke received a tiny
gold bar at the Buffalo Veterans Administration
Hospital for 1,000 hours
of service to others. Her pay has been
the happiness she has earned from trying
to make others happy.
REHABILITATION CHAIRMAN
of Tonawandas Auxiliary 264, American
Legion, Mrs. Luke goes to the Buffalo
hospital at least once a week. She
has done every kind of hospital work
which volunteers can do. She is a member
of the Veterans Administration
Voluntary Services.
Although Mrs. Luke has undergone
surgery three times - she's just recovering
from her third operation-
she never mentions the fact, to patients.
She spends time at the hospital dispensing
cheer to veterans.
Friday mornings, she greets new
patients while she helps to admit them
to the hospital. At other times, she
visits particularly 'with those "who
seem forgotten."
LOSS OF HER SON, Robert Luke
Jr., in World War II helped to channel
Mrs. Luke's career as a homemaker to
one of dedicated service to the ailing
and disabled. She helped to found and
headed the Gold Star Mothers in the
Twin Cities. Wrhen her term ended ij
1952 as president, she became president
of Tonawandas Auxiliary 264, American
Legion. By then, Mrs. Luke already
was active in her hospital projects.
Mrs. Luke is the former Margaret
Dorothea Brock. She was born in 1903
on an 11-acre farm in Division St. After
completing Pine Woods and North
Tonawanda High School classes, she
became the Twin Cities' original "fiveand-
dime" girl in a Woolworth Store
at 35 S. Niagara St.
She was married May 17,1921. Her
husband is a* Richardson Boat employe
and a World War I veteran. Their son,,
Dean, is North Tonawanda Fire Department\
naster mechanic. Their daughter
and nefct-door neighbor, Carol, is the
ife of JGordon Seabert. Mrs. Luke receives
much inspiration from h er
membership in the North Tonawanda
Church of Christ.

Mr. Brock was a former

the Navy stationed in Hawaii,

Hope that their son, Pvt. Norman
M. Brock, reported missing
in France on July 22, might have
been taken prisoner was crushed
today when Mr. and Mrs. Brock
of 72 Long's avenue received a
War Department report that he
had been killed in action.
Pvt. Brock entered the service
in December, 1943. After training
at Camp Blanding, Fla., and at
Meade, Md., he went to England
in June, 1944 and soon afterwards
to France. In his last letter to
his family, Pvt. Brock said that
his command was moving so rapidly
that any mail which might
have been sent to him had failed
to reach him.
He attended Tonawanda high
school and was employed by the
Spaulding Fibre company on
Wheeler street before entering
he service.
Besides his parents Pvt Brock
is survived by three brothers,
Staff Sergeant Lionel Brock, in
the ground crew of the 9th AAF
in England; Warren and Donald
at home, and two sisters, Mrs.
Myrtle Brennon of Tonawanda and
Miss Alberta Brock at home.

BUFFALO — Gary W. Brenon, age 58, of North Tonawanda and formerly of the City of Tonawanda, unexpectedly, Wednesday, January 26, 2011 at Buffalo General Hospital. A lifelong resident of the Tonawandas, he was a 1970 graduate of Tonawanda High School and was an avid blood donor for the American Red Cross. Gary was employed as a machinist at Kittinger Furniture and also for R.A. Miller Hardwood for 18 years, and was presently employed in Food Service at DeGraff Memorial Hospital.

He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Kathleen M. (nee Beckett) Brenon; two children, Kevin (Lisa) Brenon of North Tonawanda and Debra (Steven) Tokarczyk of Pendleton; four grandchildren, Jacob and Zachary Brenon, Kiera and Brenon Tokarczyk; five sisters and four brothers, Robert (the late Donna) Brenon, Barbara (the late Jerry) Dumais, Gerald (Kaye) Brenon, Duane (Kathy) Brenon, Jeffrey (the late Lynn) Brenon, Nancy (Ronald) Richau, Beverly Brenon, Bonnie Brenon and Brenda (Kevin) Brenon-Dupont. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Friends may call Sunday only from 4-8 PM at John O. Roth Funeral Home, Inc., 25 William St. (between Morgan & Broad Sts.), in Tonawanda. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM Monday in St. Francis of Assisi Church, 150 Broad St., in Tonawanda, by the Rev. Michael Uebler. A private burial will be in Elmlawn Cemetery.
