    The death of Jacob H. Brodhead
    occurred at his home, 7 Van Duyne
    Avenue in the Town of Owasco, last
    evening after an illness of but a few
    days. Mr. Brodhead was born in
    Owasco and hid entire life has been
    spent in that vicinity where he
    leaves a host of friends to mourn
    his death. Besides his wife, Louise
    Amerman Brodhead, he leaves two
    sons, Robert L. Brodhead of this
    city and George I. Brodhead of
    Owasco; also two grandchifdren or,
    this city.
    Funeral services will be held from
    the home Friday afternoon at 2
    o'clock with concluding services
    and burial in Owasco Rural Cemetery

    afternoon, May 10, at Clifton
    Springs, Robert L. Brodhead, Sr.
    of 59 Lake Avenue, Auburn. Private
    services were held Tuesday
    afternoon. Burial was made in
    Soule Cemetery.

    Private funeral services for Robert L. Brodhead, 65, of 50 Lake
    Avenue, well known Auburn carpenter-contractor, who was killed in
    an automobile accident Saturday afternon, almost ten miles east of
    Canandaigua, will be held Tuesday afternoon at the Langhorn Funeral
    Home, 45 East Genesee Street.
    Rev. Richard J. Blocker, pastor
    Sand Beech Church, will officiate.
    Burial will be in State
    Cemetery. Friends have been Invited
    to call at 81 East Genesee
    Street this evening.
    the accident was Investigated by
    State Trooper Robert Flaherty of
    the Canaudalgua patrol and Depth
    ty Sheriff Victor Campbell of Canaadalgua.
    It was at an intersection
    on the Phelps-Manchester highway
    that the accident happened.
    According to the officer* who Investigated,
    Mr. Brodhead was driving
    west en the main highway.
    With Mr. Brodhead was his wife,
    Mrs. Mary Vandenbosch Brodhead.
    From a side road came a car op-
    erated by Paul DeCook, 27, of
    Newark. Wayne County. Biding
    with De Cook were three small
    children. The ears collided at the
    Intersection and the impact shored
    the Brodhead car into a telephone
    pole beef de the pavement, throwing
    Mr. Brodhead oat and crashing
    him between the pole and the automobile.
    He died almost Instantly.
    Mrs. Brodhead was taken to the
    Clifton Springs Sanatorium, suffering
    from shock aad braises. Her
    condition proved to be not serious
    and she was to be brought to Auburn
    today. DeCook sustained a
    knee injury.
    Coroner S. F. Kutt .of Clifton
    Springs is investigating the fatality.
    Mr. and Mrs. Brodhead were
    on their way to visit friends in
    Rochester when the accident happened.
    Victim Widely Known
    Mr. Brodhead had been engaged
    in business as a contractor
    and carpenter in Auburn many
    years, achieving a reputation as
    a highly skilled workman and
    was much in demand.
    Besides his wife, Mr. Brodhead
    is survived by a son, Robert L.
    Brodhead, Jr., connected with the
    city engineer's department; a
    daughter, Helen M. Brodhead, a
    teat her at Tuckahoe, N. Y.; and a
    brother, George I. Brodhead of
    Auburn.
    Mr. Brodhead was a member of
    Auburn Lodge, 481, F. A A. M.;
    David's Chapter, 34, Royal Arch
    Masons; Salem Town Commandery,
    16, of Knights Templar;
    Damascus Temple of Rochester
    aad Auburn Lodge of Elks.

    Taken suddenly ill on Sunday
    while enroute with a friend to
    place Memorial Day flowers on
    family burial lots in Moravia and
    Owasco, George I. Brodhead, 71,
    of 33 Grover Street, died of a
    heart attack before the mission
    was completed.
    Later, the visits to the resting
    peaces of Mr. Brodhead's relatives
    was completed by Clinton B. Ferguson
    of 54 Chedell Place who
    was driving the car in which the
    two men rode when Mr. Brodhead
    collapsed.
    Deputy Sheriff John Sozansky,
    to' whom Mr. Ferguson made a
    report, stated that the latter told,
    him Mr. Brodhead complained of
    not feeling well and asked that
    Ferguson take over the driving,
    while they were at Indian Mound,
    Moravia, cemetery.
    While Mr. Fergueon was driving
    the car back toward Auburn,
    he informed the sheriff's deputy,
    Mr. Brodhead collapsed and died
    almost immediately. Mr. Ferguson
    parked the ear at the side of
    the road and hastened to the
    summer home of Police Officer
    John Major of Auburn, whence
    he telephoned to the sheriff's
    department.
    Coroner Norman L. Woodford
    of Union Springs was also notified.
    After an investigation, he
    attributed dearth to a coronary
    condition. Before returning to
    Auburn, Mr. Ferguson completed
    the placing of flowers as he and
    Mr. Brodhead had planned. He
    was still deeply affected by the
    shock of his friend's sudden
    death.
    Services for Mr. Brodhead will
    be held at 2 p. m. Wednesday at
    the Lan?ham Funeral Home.
    Erurlal will be In Soule Cemetery.
    Calling hours at tbe funeral
    home will be from 7 to 9 p. m
    today and Tuesday.
    Surviving Mr. Brodhead, who
    for many years was a carpenter
    employed on work in Auburn and
    vicinity, are a nephew, Robert L.
    Brodhead of Auburn, and a niece.
    Mrs. Howard L. Falrchild of
    Ithaca.
    Mr. Brodhead was born February
    16, 1879. in Owasco. Recently
    he had been an Inspector
    for the city on the Belmont tract
    project.
    Mr. Brodhead was a member
    of the Cayuga County Sportsmen's
    Association and of Aubura
    Lodge, 474, B.P.O. Elks.
