    News was received yesterday of the
    sudden death In Portland, Oregon, of
    Hon. Daniel E. Brong, prominent Niagara
    county lawyer and deputy attorney
    general under Hughes' administration
    at Albany. He leaves a wife pnd
    two sons.
    Mr. Brong was for many years one
    of the most prominent attorneys of Niagara
    County and a leading power in
    the Republican party organization. He
    was one of the best known and able
    campaign orators in the county and
    was always in demand in campaign
    lime. He was once district attorney
    ot Niagara county.
    His home, until he recently removed
    to the west, was on Walnut street,
    ockport, where he had long been In
    practice of the law. He was celebrated
    as a criminal lawyer. He was senior
    member of the former law firm of
    Brong & JeMefy, at Lockport, until the
    death of Elwood D. Jeffery a few
    years ago.

    LOCKPORT. April 10-Services
    for Parker P. Brong, 65. brother of
    former Assemblyman Karl S. Brong,
    will be held tomorrow at 2 o'clock
    at the Kennedy Funeral home, 122
    Walnut street. Burial will be in Cold
    Spring cemetery.
    Mr. Brong who died Saturday at
    Lockport City hospital, following a
    brief illness, was the son of the late
    Daniel E. and Mary E. Brong. The
    father formerly served the State of
    New York as a deputy attorney gen-
    eral. He was a prominent Lockport
    attorney.
    The son was educated in the pub-
    lic schools. He participated in track
    athletics and was an ardent hunter
    fisherman. For 23 years he was em-
    ployed by the Harrison Radiator
    Division,, General Motors corpora-
    tion.
    Surviving, besides his brother, are
    four daughters, Mrs.. David Knox,
    Lockport; Mrs. H.. Oliver Pels, Ben-
    ton Harbor, Mich.; Mrs.. William
    Nicholson, Lockport, and Mrs. Clar-
    ence Blackley, Barkey, and two sons,
    Karl H. Brong, Lockport and Rea
    G. Brong, Barker.

    Parker married WENTWORTH, Nora K about 1908. Nora was born about 1886 in New York; died on 16 Aug 1936 in Buffalo, Erie County, NY. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

    Assemblyman Karl S Brong. about
    70, of Lockport. is believed to have
    ben drown In Loon Lake State
    police were dragging for his body
    today
    Brong disappeared Thursday
    morning He left the Noridgewock
    Hotel in this Central Adirondack
    hamlet to camp out on the shore
    of nearby Loon Lake, which Is In
    Herkimer County.
    He took along a canoe and presumably
    intended to fish.
    Late yesterday, the canoe was
    found empty and floating tn the
    small Iake, about 200 feet off
    shore.
    Stale police were notified Troop
    er Louis Sabatini of the Old Forge
    substation went to the scene. He:
    reported to superiors that he
    believed Brong was drowned.

    KNOX - Funeral services for the
    late Beatrice G. Knox were held
    at 2:30 o'clock Wednesday afternoon,
    September 4, 1963, at the
    Funeral Home of Taylor & Reynolds,
    Niagara at North Transit
    Street, the Rev. Robert W. Orvis
    officiating. The bearers were
    Richard Hageman, Carl Burl, Ed
    ward Marvin, Charles Jackson,
    Walter Braunschiedel and Robert
    Heacox. Interment was in Cold
    Spring Cemetery.

    of the, late David Knox, of
    209 Washburn Street, passed away
    Sunday, September 1, 1963, at
    Mount View Hospital. She is survived

    of Lockport, N.Y., Norman Knox,
    of Riverside, Calif., three sisters
    and two brothers, Mrs. H. Oliver
    Pels, of Laconia, N. H., Mrs. William
    Nicholson, of Lockport, N.Y.,
    Mrs. Clarence Blackley, of Long
    Beach, Calif., Karl Brong, of Buffalo,
    N. Y. and Rea Brong, of Long
    Beach, Calif., also eleven grandchildren
    and several nieces and
    nephews. Friends may call at the
    funeral home of Taylor & Reynolds,
    Niagara at North Transit
    Street, where funeral services will
    be held at 2:30 o'clock Wednesday
    afternoon. Interment will be
    in Cold Springs Cemetery.

    Daniel E. Brong, 31, of 175 Waterman
    St., died Monday night in
    Buffalo General Hospital where he
    underwent an operation on Tuesday.
    He was born in Columbus, son of
    Parker Brong and the late Nora
    Wentworth Brong. His paternal
    grandfather, the late Daniel Brong,
    was a Lockport attorney and former
    assistant attorney general of the
    state.
    Mr. Brong was employed several
    years by the Grant Dry Cleaning
    Company and for the past nine
    years was employed in the standards
    department of the Harrison
    Radiator Division of General
    Motors Corporation.
    Surviving besides his father are
    his wife, Thelma Charles Brong; a
    daughter, Linda Margaret Brong;
    four sisters, Mrs. David Knox, Mrs.
    Henry Stevens and Mrs. Oliver Pels,
    Lockport and Mrs. Clarence Blackley,
    Gasport; and two brothers,
    Karl Brong, Lockport and Rea
    Brong, Gasport.
    Funeral services will be held
    Thursday at 2:30 at the Kennedy
    Funeral Home, 122 Walnut St.
    Burial will be in Cold Springs
    Cemetery.
