and Virginia E. Bartkowski duly verified
the 9th day of November. 1940.
and entitled as above, having been
duly presented to the County Court
of Chautauqua County, the said petitions
praying for leave of the petitioners
|to assume the names of PETER
P.. BROOKS and VIRGINIA E.
BROOKS,i in place and stead of their
present! names, dnd the court being
duly satisfied that the averments con-
tained in such petitions are in all
respects true and that there are no
reasonable objections to the change
of names proposed.
Now. on motion of William H.
Hayes, the attorney for the peti-
tioners, it is
ORDEREP, that Peter P. Bartkowski
and Virginia E Bartkowski of Fre-
donia, New York, be and hereby are
authorized to assume the name of
Peter P. Brooks and Virginia E.
Brooks on the 25th day of December.
1940. upon conddition. however, that
they shall comply with the further
provisions of this order, and it is
further
ORDERED that this order and t h e
aforementioned petition be filed with-
in ten days from the date hereof in
the office of the Clerk of the County
of Chautauqua; and that a copy of
this order shall within ten days from
the date hereof be published in The
Fredonia Censor, a newspaper pub-
lished in Fredonia. New York. and that
proof of publication thereof be filed
with the County Clerk of Chautauqua
Countv; and it is further
ORDERED that following the filinf
of these petitions and the order here-
in as hereinbefore directed and the
publication of such order and the
filing of proof of publication thereof
as hereinbefore directed and on De-
cember 25th, 1940, the petitioner shall
be known by the names of PETER
F. BROOKS and VIRGINIA E.
BROOKS and by no other names;
and it is further
ORDERED that the names of all the
infant children are herewith and here-
by changed from Bartkowski to
BROOKS, effective on December 25th
1940.

Brooks of North Boston, who died
Sunday, October 28, 2001.
Husband of the late Elizabeth L.
Klein Brooks, he is survived by his
son, David (Lynda) Brooks;
daughter, Barbara (Jake)
Coleman; sisters, Esther (Edward)
Stewart, Betty (Alan)
Johnson, Patricia (Richard)
Slawson and Joyce (late David)
Josephson; brothers, Richard
(Marie), Robert (Marilee), James
(Sally), Gordon (Mary) and
Donald (Dorothy) Brooks; and five
grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the
American Heart Association or to
a charity of one's choice.
Arrangements were made
through the, Loomis, Offers &
Loomis Funeral Home.

A Mass of Christian Burial was
held Friday (Sept. 2) from St.
Bernadette's Church for Richard
J. Brooks Sr., 77, of Hamburg, who
died Monday, Aug. 29, 2005.
He is survived by his wife, Marie
A. Piede Brooks; daughters,
Deborah (Joseph) Collins and
Karen Ruh; son, Richard Brooks
Jr.; brothers, Robert, James, Gordon
and Donald; sisters, Esther
Stewart, Betty Johnson, Patricia
Slawson and Joyce Josephsdh;
four grandchildren; former father-
in-law or Michael Ruh; also
survived by many other loving
family members and friends.
He was predeceased by a brother,
Alfred Brooks.
Mr. Brooks owned Brooks Construction
in Hamburg.
Burial was in Hillcrest Cemetery,
with arrangements made through
John J. Kaczor Funeral Home.
