    Anna Rose Marie Germaine ''Gerry'' (LePine) Hlavenka 93, of Niagara Falls, NY passed away on Sunday, February 28, 2016 at Northgate Health Care Facility. Born in Sherbrooke, Quebec, Canada on September 9, 1922 she was the second youngest of 13 children and the daughter of the late Cyrille and Marie (Goupil) LePine. The family moved to the States from Quebec when she


    was four years old and she attended Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic School and Trott Vocational High School. She married Joseph Hlavenka in Niagara Falls, New York, September 27, 1941 and he predeceased her on November 14, 1997.


    Gerry worked part time to help support her family. She worked for the Niagara Window Cleaning Service and finally Bowl-O-Drome. She loved to help her husband with his car repair business, loved painting (houses, not


    canvases), loved bowling so much that when she lost the ability to bowl right-handed, she learned to bowl with her left hand and kept her average the same. Gerry also enjoyed knitting and crocheting. She was also very proud of her beautiful teeth. She would always smile, which led to the question "where did you get that great set of false teeth".


    She is survived by her daughter G. Jeanette Schultz; son Joseph Hlavenka; granddaughters Lora(Joseph) Kolmer, Lauren(Rosario) D'Urso ; grandsons Michael Schultz, Jason(Michelle)Hlavenka, Nicklas(Lauren) Hlavenka ; great-granddaughters, Naomi Kolmer, Colette Hlavenka and Evelyn Hlavenka and great-grandsons Shae Kolmer and Ethan Hlavenka; younger brother Lucine LePine of LasVegas, Nevada and sister-in-law Julie Stone of Arizona.


    Besides her husband and parents she was predeceased by her brothers Fernand, Armand, Henry, Hormisdas, Leopold, Phillip, and Joseph and sisters Lea and Laura. The family sends a Special Thanks to: Nurses, doctors and social workers at Northgate Nursing Home and Niagara Hospice.


    There is NO PRIOR visitation. A Mass of Christian burial will be held 11:00 AM on Wednesday, March 2, 2016 at Divine Mercy Parish, 2437 Niagara Street, Niagara Falls, NY with Rev. Jacek Mazur officiating. EVERYONE PLEASE ASSEMBLE AT CHURCH. Burial in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lewiston, NY. Rather than flowers, please send donations to Niagara Hospice, 4675 Sunset Drive, Lockport, NY 14094-1231 or North Gate Health Care Facility, 7664 Nash Road, North Tonawanda, NY 14120. Arrangements entrusted to ZAJAC FUNERAL HOME INC.
