    INGRAHAM - Howard D. Poehler, 69, of Ingraham passed away at 7:30 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 16, 2011, with his family near, after a long struggle with sickness.

    He was born Nov. 26, 1941, in Clay County to Amos Poehler and Alice (Schwengel) Poehler. He married Glenda Miller on Aug. 30, 1964, at St. Paul's Blue Point Lutheran Church, near Altamont.

    Howard served in the Illinois National Guard and was a board member of Clay Electric Coop for 30 years. His memberships included St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Bible Grove, Bible Grove Sportsman's Club and Louisville American Legion. Howard also was a volunteer on North Clay Fire Department of Bible Grove.

    Howard "Sodbuster" was a lifelong farmer who also enjoyed hunting, fishing, trap shooting and spending time with his family and friends.

    Those left to cherish memories of the life of Howard are wife, Glenda; children, Angie Stanfield, Theresa Miller and Marty Poehler; two grandsons; brother, Duane Poehler; as well as nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.

    He was preceded in death by his parents; in-laws, Harold and Cora (Dammermann) Miller; sister and brother-in-law, Wanda and Richard Birch; and sister-in-law, Janice Poehler.

    Funeral services were held at Neal Funeral Home, Louisville.

    Burial in St. Paul's Cemetery.

    Memorials may be made to Lincolnland Hospice, Mattoon, or St. Thomas School, Newton.
