    Road, died today (March 23,
    1964) at his home after an
    illness of six weeks.
    Mr. Schultz had lived and
    farmed in the Town of Wilson
    for 60 years. He was born
    Nov. 12, 1879 in Germany, the
    son of August and Sophie
    Schultz. He came to this town
    with his parents when he was
    six months old. He was married
    to Selma Winters in 1903.
    He was a member of St.
    Peter's L u t h e r a n Church,
    North Ridge.
    Surviving are three daughters,
    Mrs. Leslie Lounsbury,
    Niagara Falls, Mrs. Herbert
    Hurtgam, Ransomville, Mrs.
    Roy Eckert, this community;
    six sons, Leonard, Clarence,
    Willard and Ronald Schultz,
    this c o m m u n i t y , Wallace
    Schultz, Ransomville, and
    Carleton Schultz, Newfane; 35
    grandchildren and 22 great
    grandchildren.
    The family will be present
    from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the
    Hamilton and Clark Funeral
    Chapel where services will be
    held at 2 p.m. Wednesday and
    at 2:45 p.m. at St. Peter's Lutheran
    Church, North Ridge,
    with Rev. Carl Oldach officiating.
    Burial will be in St.
    Peter's Lutheran Cemetery.

    C Schultz, 69, died yesterday
    at his home, Chestnuts Rd., after
    an illness of six months.
    Mr. Schultz is survived by his
    wife, Mrs. Dana Schultz, at home;
    one daughter, Mrs. Harold Zastrow,
    Burt; three sons, Francis, Cincinnati,
    O., Clyde and Allan Schultz,
    both of Chestnut Rd.; nine grandchildren
    and one brother, Fred W.
    Schultz, Wilson-Cambria Rd.
    Funeral services will be held
    Monday at 2 p.m. at the family
    home. The Rev. Alfred Lenzner will
    officiate. Interment will be in
    North Ridge Cemetery.
    Mr. Schultz had spent his entire
    life in the Town of Wilson. He
    was born on the Wilson-Cambria
    Rd., a son of the late August and
    Sophia Schultz. He operated a farm
    in Chestnut Rd. for many years.

    A r t h u r P. Lemke, 59, of 310 Fredericka St., North
    Tonawanda, who devoted much of 18 of his last 23
    year to city government, died early today after an ap-
    parent heart seizure at his home.
    Mayor Durkee ordered the flag
    in front of the North Tonawanda
    City Hall lowered to half-mast
    in tribute to Mr. Lemke, who
    was elected to the Common
    Council nine times.
    He was stricken with the fatal
    attack shortly before 3 a.m. to-
    d a y F i r e m e n administered oxy-
    gen, but he was dead on arrival
    DeGraff Memorial Hospital.
    His death came less than two
    weeks before he wa to have
    been honored at a testimonial
    dinner May 21 by the North Tona-
    wanda Republican City Com-
    mittee.
    Since 1940, when he was first
    elected to the Common Council,
    he devoted most of his time and
    effort to the North Tonawanda
    political scene. A republican, he
    twice served two-year terms as
    Common Council president.
    He retired from politics lat
    Dec. 31 at the conclusion of his
    ninth term as alderman from the
    Fourth Ward.
    Long a proponent of the city
    manager plan of municipal gov-
    erment, Mr. Lemke was an out-
    standing legislator.
    A native of North Tonawanda,
    he was born in the Fourth Ward
    and attended local schools. He
    had been employed at the Buffalo
    Pumps Division of Buffalo
    Forge, North Tonawanda, for
    the past 45 years.
    While on the council, he hed-
    ed every committee at one time
    or another and was respected
    by all who served with him.
    He was a member of the Ton-
    wandas Chamber of Commerce,
    DeGraff M e m o r i a l Hospital
    Board of Trustees, Gratwick
    Hose Company, the Firemen's
    Benevolent Association and St.
    Mark Lutheran Church and
    president of the church Christian
    stewardship committee.
    He is survived by his wife.
    Ruth; two sons, Keith and Den-
    nis both of North Tonawanda
    three daughters, Mrs. Kenneth
    (Beverly) May of Rochester,
    N.Y.; Mrs. Thomas (Constance)
    Nicholsan and Miss Carol
    Lemke. both of North Tonawan-
    da, and four grandchildren. He
    i s a l s o survived by two sisters,
    Mrs. James Mahoney of Lock
    port and Mrs. Richard Schieman
    of Niagara Falls and a brother,
    Fred Lemke, peace justice in
    the Town of Wheatfield.
    Funeral service will be at 2
    p.m. Wedesday in St. Mark Lu-
    theran Church. Until 11 a.m.
    Wednesday, his body will be at
    Fretthold Funeral Home, 1241
    Oliver St., North Tonawanda.

    Wallace F. Schultz, 86, who had worked for Carborundum Co.'s Bonded Abrasive Division in Wheatfield for 37 years, died Monday (Nov. 23, 1998) in Northgate Manor Health Care Facility, Wheatfield, after a lengthy illness.
    Schultz retired from Carborundum in 1974 as a laborer. He also operated a vegetable farm at his home for many years, taking produce to the Buffalo wholesale market.
    He was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church at North Ridge, Cambria, and the Newfane Golden Agers.
    His wife, Edna Zahno Schultz, died in 1997.
    Survivors include two sons, Gary and Marvin; two sisters, Eleanor Eckert of Burt and Mildred Hurtgam; two brothers, Willard of Wilson and Carlton of Newfane; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

    Mildred M. Hurtgam, age 88 formerly of Ridge Rd., Town of Cambria, NY, was called to her eternal home on Sunday, November 17, 2002 in the Mt. St. Mary's Long Term Health Care Facility in Niagara Falls, NY. Mrs. Hurtgam was born July 21, 1914 in the Town of Wilson, NY, the daughter of the late Fred and Selma (Winters) Schultz. She was married to Herbert R. Hurtgam on March 7, 1935. Together they owned and operated Hurtgam Farms in the Town of Cambria for many years, taking their eggs and produce to the North Tonawanda and Niagara Falls City Markets. Mr. Hurtgam passed away on September 9, 1991. Mrs. Hurtgam was a lifelong member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church at North Ridge and very active in its' Ladies Aid Society for which she had served as Secretary and Treasurer. She was a member of the Newfane Golden Agers and the Sanborn Friendship Club. She enjoyed sending and receiving greeting cards. She is survived by two sons, Jerry (Brenda) Hurtgam of Ransomville, and Charles (Maggie) Hurtgam of Greene, NY; a sister, Eleanor Eckert and a brother, Carlton (Eleanor) Schultz both of Newfane; her grandchildren, Jeff (Harmony) Hurtgam, Jay (Cassandra) Hurtgam, Jodie Hurtgam, Robert (Nicole) Lewis, and Richard (Penny) Lewis; her great grandchildren, Melissa, Randy, Chris, and Jordan Lewis; her sisters-in-law, Jenny, Alvera, Martha, and Donna Schultz.     He farmed 58 acres on Irish Road and sold his vegetables at the Clinton-Bailey Farmers' Market in Buffalo. He was a former vice president of the Clinton-Bailey Farmers Market Association and served on its board for 12 years.
    Schultz served on the board of elders of St. Peter's Lutheran Church at North Ridge, Cambria, where he was a lifelong member. He was a former member of the church's cemetery board.
    Schultz was also an exempt member of South Wilson Fire Company.
    Survivors include his wife of 62 years, the former Martha L. Brandt; a son, Randy of Wilson; a brother, Carlton of Newfane; two sisters, Mildred Hurtgam of Niagara Falls and Eleanor Eckert of Burt; and one granddaughter.
    Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in St. Peter's Lutheran Church at North Ridge, 4169 Church Road, Cambria. Burial will be in North Ridge Cemetery, Cambria.

Born Florence Lemke in North Tonawanda, she attended local schools. She worked at the Nabisco plant in Niagara Falls for 15 years before her retirement and was a member of Holy Ghost Lutheran Church, Bergholz.
    She enjoyed traveling and activities at the Wheatfield Senior Citizens Center, according to her son, Richard Lemke of North Tonawanda.
    Her husband of many years, William, died in 1981.
    Besides her son, survivors include a brother, Wallace Lemke of Wheatfield; three sisters, Naomi Kreppenneck of Cambria and Betty Ernst and Alice Lewis, both of Wheatfield; eight grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

    WHEATFIELD — Wallace Lemke, age 96, of Wheatfield, was called to his heavenly home on August 15, 2012 at the Northgate Health Care Facility. Born in the Town of Wheatfield on September 23, 1915, he was the son of the late Edward and Ella (Werth) Lemke.

    Wallace was a lifelong member of St. John Ev. Lutheran Church in Wheatfield, exempt member of the St. Johnsburg Fire Company, where he's been a member since 1941, was employed at the Wurlitzer Company for 40 years and later at Voss Mfg.

    Survivors include a sister, Betty Ernst of North Tonawanda; two grandsons, Steve Sterry, Jr. and David Sterry. He was predeceased by his wife, Agatha L. Lemke on January 30, 2000; and three sisters, Florence DuBois, Naomi Kreppenneck and Alice Lewis.

    A private interment will take place in St. John Lutheran Cemetery, Wheatfield, with a memorial service to follow at a later date, in the DUBOIS FUNERAL HOME.

    WHEATFIELD — Alice M. (Lemke) Sherwood-Lewis, age 88, of Wheatfield, was called to her heavenly home on Sunday, June 3, 2012, after a brief illness at Mount St. Mary's Hospital, Lewiston. Born in North Tonawanda, NY, on February 8, 1924 to the late Edward and Ella (Werth) Lemke.

    Alice was a longtime member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Wheatfield. She was a devoted homemaker, loving wife and mother. Alice enjoyed getting together with her family, playing cards, sewing and fishing.

    Predeceased by her first husband, Leland W. Sherwood in 1972, she is survived by her husband, Charles W. Lewis. They were united in marriage on April 16, 1976; four children, Timothy (Debbie) Sherwood of Acworth, GA, Dan (Karen) Sherwood of Pendleton, Karen (Steve) Palistrant of Sanborn and Doyle (Linda) Lewis of Camden, SC; fifteen grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; a brother, Wallace Lemke; a sister, Betty Ernst; and several nieces and nephews.     LEWISTON — Paul G. Lemke, of Lewiston, NY, passed away on Wednesday, June 1, 2011, at his residence, under the care of Niagara Hospice. He was born in the Town of Wheatfield on April 8, 1920, the son of Judge Frederick and Matilda Lemke.

    Mr. Lemke was truly proud of his ancestry, place of birth and family. He served with the U.S. Army Air Force, with campaigns in air offensives in Europe, Ardennes, Central Europe, Egypt, Libya, Naples, Foggia, Northern France, Rhineland, Rome, Arno, Sicily, Tunisia, air combat Balkans.

    After the service he was employed by Buffalo Bolt Co. for 17 years, leaving their employ to form Thruway Sales Co. and Thruway Fasteners, Inc., in July of 1959, where he continued as a consultant up until his death. The success of this company is history.

    Mr. Lemke was Past Board Member and President of National Fasteners Distributors Association, past Director of National Wholesale Association, elected to the Fastener Hall of Fame in 1983. He served on the Board of Governors and was President of Niagara Falls Country Club, also a Board Member of Artpark and Council Niagara University.

    Mr. Lemke was the husband of the late Lorraine (McIntyre) Lemke, who died in August of 1964.

    He is survived by one daughter, Michele L. (Peter) Jenkins of Grand Island, NY; a daughter-in-law, Bonny Lemke; his companion, Jean Walker. He is also survived by five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. Mr. Lemke was the father of the late Paul G. Lemke and brother of the late Alvin Lemke.

    To a host of my friends and lovers, and especially my G.A.P., it has been a pleasure and I will save a place for you.

    Keith A. Lemke, age 84, of North Tonawanda, went to be with his Lord on June 22, 2022. Keith had served with the U. S. Coast Guard. He was a faithful member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church, where he served as an Elder and usher. He was a member of the Gratwick Hose Fire Company and served as their Chaplin for many years. He served as a Director of the North Tonawanda Fireman’s Benevolent Association. He had been employed by Cramer Industrial Products and Columbus McKinnon. He was the son of the late Arthur and Ruth Lemke.
    Beloved husband of Dorothy (nee Wigand) Lemke. Dear father of Donna Marie (Patrick) Hutton, and Mark Keith (Faith) Lemke. Grandfather of Danielle (Matthew) Cherry, Andrea (Derek) Weaver, Amelia (Bobby) O’Connor, Christian (Jessica) Lemke, and Jacob Lemke. Great-grandfather of Addison, Braden, Keegan, Laughton, Everett, Mason, and Paisley. Brother-in-law of Sharon Lemke and Nancy Waysz. He was the brother of the late Beverly, Connie, Carol, and Dennis. He is also survived by nieces and nephews and many friends and loved ones.

    Arlene B. Seefeldt, age 81, of Ransomville, died unexpectedly at her home on Monday October 31, 2016.


    Arlene was born August 13, 1935 in the Town of Wilson, the daughter of the late Paul and Irene (Schultz) Bohnstadt. She was a graduate of Wilson High School and on May 1, 1954 she married Neil L. Seefeldt. Together they worked their family farm and took their produce to the Niagara Falls Market and the Clinton & Bailey Market in Buffalo. At the same time Arlene worked for 11 years as a secretary at the Wilson High School. In 1964 she began her pursuit of a career as a teacher, attending Buffalo State Teachers College. Arlene received her Bachelor's and Master's Degrees in Education and English in 1967 at which time she began teaching English at Lewiston-Porter Schools, at both the Junior and Senior High. She retired in 1989 after 22 years of service.


    Arlene was a member of St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran at North Ridge. She sang in the choir, was the organist for many years, and had served as principal of the school for two years as well as on its' Board of Education. Arlene had also served as the organist for North Ridge United Methodist Church and had served on the Town of Wilson Board of Assessment Review. Arlene was a member of the NY State Retired Teachers Association.




    Her husband, Neil, predeceased her in 1987. She is survived by several cousins, godchildren, and her church family.


    A Memorial Service will be held Tuesday, November 15, at 11:00 am in St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church at North Ridge, 4169 Church Rd. Town of Cambria, with the Rev. Robert Hoffman officiating. There will be no prior visitation. Arlene was laid to rest with her husband at North Ridge Cemetery with a private ceremony. In lieu of flowers, Memorials may be made to St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church at North Ridge, 4169 Church Rd., Lockport, NY 14094 or to Niagara Hospice, 4675 Sunset Dr., Lockport, NY 14094.     Dorothy L. Caraglin, 92, of Niagara Falls, NY, passed away peacefully on September 19, 2022. Born in Lockport, NY, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Jenny Bisher.
    Dorothy was educated in the Barker Central Schools. On April 29, 1950 she married her beloved husband, Frank J. Caraglin in the Town of Royalton. Mr. Caraglin predeceased her on September 23, 2001.
    Dorothy was a longtime member of the American Legion Cadille Post 1664 and the LaSalle-Griffon VFW Post 917. She enjoyed needle work, crocheting, playing cards, reading, as well as listening to music. Above all, Dorothy especially enjoyed spending time with her family.
    Dorothy is survived by her children, Noreen (Norman) Maillet, Frank (Bambi) Caraglin, Jr., John Caraglin, Mark (Tammy) Caraglin, Loura (Floyd) Maines, Mary (Pat) Corsaro, Debbie (Vince) Ferlito and Jean (late Skip) Hachee; 23 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren; her sister, Bonnie (late Vince); as well as many nieces and nephews.

    LEWISTON — Gary W. Schultz, age 71, formerly of Porter Center Rd. in Lewiston, died on Saturday, September 1, 2012 in the Treasure Coast Hospice in Ft. Pierce, FL, after a lengthy illness. Gary was born on April 10. 1941 in Niagara Falls, NY, the son of the late Wallace F. and Edna G. (Zahno) Schultz and was a 1959 graduate of Lewiston Porter High School.

    He married Gladys Jeanette (Hlavenka) Schultz on June 1, 1963 and they lived in the Town of Porter until moving to Port St. Lucie, FL, 11 years ago. Gary was a Sales Service Manager, employed by Stone Container Co. in Wheatfield, for 45 years, retiring in 1999. He was a member of St. Peter's RC Church in Lewiston and of St. Bernadette RC Church in Port St. Lucie. Gary was also a former member and an Exempt Member of the Lewiston Volunteer Fire Co. # 1. He enjoyed farming.

    He is survived by his wife, Gladys Jeanette Schultz of Port St. Lucie, FL; his children, Lora (Joe) Kolmer of Kenmore, WA and Michael Schultz of Niagara Falls, NY; his grandchildren, Nathan and Evan Schultz, Shea and Naomi Kolmer; a brother, Marvin Schultz of Ransomville; his mother-in-law, Germaine Hlavenka of Niagara Falls, NY; a brother-in-law, Joseph Hlavenka of Los Angeles, CA; and several nieces and nephews.     RANSOMVILLE —
    Jerry H. Hurtgam, age 70, of Ransomville, fell asleep in Jesus on Monday, November 26, 2012, at his home after a lengthy illness. Jerry was born on December 9, 1941 in Niagara Falls, NY, the son of the late Herbert R. and Mildred (Schultz) Hurtgam.
    He was a 1959 graduate of Wilson Central High School. Jerry was past owner and operator of J Hurtgam Farms and sold produce at Niagara Falls and North Tonawanda farmers markets. He served in various roles on the Farm Bureau, Niagara County Cooperative Extension, and the Lake Plains Vegetable Growers. Jerry was a lifelong member of St. Peter Lutheran Church at North Ridge, where he served as usher and member of the finance committee. Faith, family, friends, farming, and Bluegrass music fulfilled his life.
    Jerry is survived by his beloved wife of 43 years, Brenda (Schendel) Hurtgam; two sons, Jeff (Harmony) Hurtgam and Jay (Cassandra) Hurtgam, both of Ransomville; a daughter, Jodie Hess of Hilton, NY; four grandchildren, Emma, Abigail, Allison and Nathan Hurtgam; and a brother, Charles (Maggie) Hurtgam of Greene, NY.
    Friends may call at St. Peter Lutheran Church at North Ridge, 4169 Church Rd., Town of Cambria on Saturday, December 1st from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 PM in the Church with the Rev. Robert Hoffman officiating. Burial will follow in St. Peter Lutheran Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Peter Lutheran Church at North Ridge, 4169 Church Rd., Lockport, NY 14094, Worship for Shut-Ins, payable to: Lutheran Ministries, Inc., 5 Martin Luther Dr., Ft. Survivors include his sister Deborah (Doug) Hubbert; a nephew Ronald Seefeldt and many friends. Besides his parents Jeffrey is predeceased by his aunt June Schuman and many cousins and friends.
