    Obituary of Thomas David Reubens

Thomas David Reubens, 29, passed away unexpectedly on May 25th, 2019 at his home, of apparent cardiac disease. He was born on June 8, 1989 in Newfane, NY.

Tom was a very accomplished young man who excelled in many areas.  He holds a B.A. in History from SUNY Geneseo, an M.A. in History from Concordia University in Montreal, and a Certificate of Horticulture from F.L.C.C.  A dedicated educator; Tom taught for five years at both Finger Lakes and Cayuga Community Colleges.  Many knew Tom for his celebrated running career at Wilson High School and SUNY Geneseo.  He was a NYS Cross-Country Champion and won the NYS Sportsman of the Year award.  He was recently inducted into the Wilson Wall of Fame having set many school records.
Tom was also a cat lover, dreamer, amateur lyricist and comedian, menacing board game nemesis, and a human encyclopedia of all things historic.  Tom’s pet passions were history and horticulture.  He worked for several years as an interpreter at Fort Niagara and Rose Hill Mansion, and took every opportunity to share his favorite histories.  Those who knew Tom also know of his particular love for the trees. He would lead followers on "Tree Tours" to identify and take in the beauty of nature.  He planted trees and seemed happiest as a steward of nature while in the woods.  He was a devoted husband, loving son, supportive brother, and a committed friend who put others before himself.
