    Obituary of Howard Collins

    Howard Jay Collins, 92, passed away peacefully at Eastern Niagara Hospital in Lockport on December 17, 2017. Born at home in the Town of Hartland, he was the son of the late Roland and Helen (nee Whitmore) Collins.

    Howard loved playing cards, betting on the horses, going to the Casino, and scratch off tickets. He had a green thumb and was proud of his flowers and loved to garden. Howard served honorably in General Patton’s 3rd Armored Division of the Army during World War II. He fought in the Battle of the Bulge and was one of the first troops to free the Concentration Camp Buchenwald Germany. After the war, Howard met the love of his life, Shirley (nee Hartner). Together Howard and Shirley had 5 children.

    He was predeceased by his loving wife of 58 years, Shirley, son - Kenneth (Linda) Collins, daughter - Karen Mensch, grandson - Nathan Graham, his brothers - La Verne, John, Robert, and sister, Eileen.

    Howard is survived by a brother, Donald Collins, his children Debra (late Richard) Graham, Janice (Joe) Collins, and Timothy (Kelly) Collins. Howard was a proud Grandfather to 11 and Great-Grandfather to 10. He will be dearly missed by numerous extended family and friends.
    Friends may call on Wednesday 12:00 – 2:00 PM at LANGE FUNERAL HOME, INC., 186 East Ave., Lockport. Entombment in Glenwood Cemetery will follow.     Obituary of William D. Collins, Sr.

    William D. Collins Sr. passed away Tuesday April 6, 2021 at Lockport Rehab and Health Care Center.  Born in Hartland, NY on October 9, 1927, he was the son of the late Roland and Helen Whitmore Collins.    William served in the US Army from 1946 until 1950.  He worked over 30 years for the Upson Company which became Domtar Corporation.  William enjoyed playing Euchre, going to the DALE Association, gardening and canning.  He is predeceased by his wife Betty (Chapman) Collins, who passed away in 1997 and his daughter Susan (Brian Thill) Collins, who passed away in 2013.
    William is survived by his children, Brenda (Russell) Chaffee and William D. Collins Jr.  His grandchildren Marc (Amy) Chaffee and Marissa (Connor Abess) Chaffee and great grandson Maverick Chaffee.  He was the brother of the late Laverne, Howard and John Collins and Ilene Jakubec.   William is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
    Friends may call on Friday April 9th 4-7 PM at Prudden and Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee Street, Lockport.  A graveside service will be held Saturday April 10th at 10 AM in Cold Spring Cemetery.  In Lieu of flowers, memorials to the American Diabetes Association would be appreciated by the family.  Online condolences at www.pruddenandkandt.com.

Collins, Jr. passed away November 15, 2021 in Erie County Medical Center.  Born October 19, 1959 in Lockport he was the son of the late William and Betty (Chapman) Collins, Sr.  William worked as a driver for both Uber and Lyft.  Besides his parents William was also predeceased by his sister Susan Collins.  He is survived by his sister Brenda (Russell) Chaffee; nephew Marc (Amy) Chaffee; niece Marissa (Connor Abess) Chaffee; great nephew Maverick Chaffee.
    Relatives and friends may call Thursday, Nov. 18th from 4-8 PM in Prudden & Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee St., Lockport.  Graveside services will be held Friday, Nov. 19th at 10 AM in Cold Springs Cemetery.
