    Peter J. DiLaura, Jr.
    age 97, formerly of Niagara Falls and Lockport, NY, passed away peacefully Saturday, April 28, 2018 in OLP Healthcare Facility in Lewiston, NY under the care of Niagara Hospice. He was born in Niagara Falls on September 4, 1920 to the late Orsola (Scaccia) and Peter J. DiLaura, Sr. Peter was a graduate of Niagara Falls High School, Kelly’s Business Institute and Lewis Hotel Training School. During WWII, he served as a Sergeant in US Army Air Corps serving in Okinawa Japan and Korea. Peter worked in the family business; DiLaura’s Confectionery. From 1960-1977 he worked as an Accountant and Liquor Manager for several hotels in Washington, DC, including the Raleigh, Gramercy, Windsor Park, L’Enfant Plaza and the Shoreham Hotels. In 1977, Peter returned to Niagara Falls and worked as an Accounting Technician retiring in 1982. A devout Catholic he was a daily communicant at St. Joseph and St. Teresa Churches. His pastimes included reading about the Native Americans and gardening, but his favorite activity was walking. He enjoyed horseracing and was an enthusiastic fan of the Boston Red Sox and Washington Redskins. Peter was predeceased by his siblings the late Bessie (late Edward) Perricelli, Joseph M. (late Mary) DiLaura, late Mary ( late Charles) Dunlap and the late nephew Richard Dunlap. He is survived by Nancy (James) Allen and Linda Schug of Lewiston and also survived by Joan (Gerald) Nobiling, Elizabeth (late Jay) Buffan, Joseph (Nancy) DiLaura, Susan (Gene) Bulla, Daniel (Karen) Dunlap and Robert (Millie) Dunlap. He is also survived by many gret and gtreat-great nieces and nephews. The family will be present to receive friends Saturday, May 19, 2018 from 8:30-9:30 AM at St. Peter R.C. Church, 620 Center St., Lewiston, NY where a Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 9:30 AM. Family and friends invited. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Peter's memory to St. Labre Indian School, P.O. Box 216 Ashland, MT 59003 or St. Joseph Indian School, P.O. Box 300, 1301 N.
