Obituary

Vera T. (nee Morreale) Fabiano, 100, passed away peacefully April 19, 2021, in Our Lady of Peace Nursing Home. She was born February 28, 1921 in DeLancey, PA to the late Angelo and Josephine (nee Licata) Morreale. Vera was a graduate of Niagara Falls High School and Trott Vocational and received her NYS Licensed Practical Nursing License. On June 5, 1943, the former Vera T. Morreale married Arthur B. Fabiano in St. Joseph Church in Niagara Falls. He passed away in 2002. Vera worked as a LPN at Niagara Falls Memorial Hospital for over 20 years retiring in 1986. A very active parishioner at St. Joseph Church, she was a past officer of the St. Joseph Mother Club, Perpetual Purgatory Society and the Madonna Del Soccorso Society. Vera enjoyed traveling with the local Senior Citizens groups, but most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
She is survived by her three children; Francis (Sheila) Fabiano of North Tonawanda, NY., Palmajo Simmons of Raleigh, NC, and Dr. Jude (Eileen) Fabiano of Snyder, NY.; 13 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.; two siblings, George (late Margaret) Morreale, Jennie (late Frank) Borgese both of Niagara Falls and many nieces and nephews. Vera was predeceased by her parents, her husband, five siblings, the late Rose Sarkees, late Joseph, the late Mary, late Charles and the late Dr. Samuel (Lydia) Morreale.
The family will be present to receive friends on Thursday from 3-7 PM at the SPALLINO-AMIGONE FUNERAL HOME, 2215 Military Road, Niagara Falls. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday from Holy Family of Jesus, Mary and Joseph Parish, St. Joseph Church, 1413 Pine Avenue at 10:30 AM. Friends are asked to please assemble at the church. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Niagara Falls, NY. Friends invited. Dr. Samuel C. Morreale of Lewiston, NY, passed away on January 9, 2019 after a brief illness at Roswell Park.  Born on December 21, 1934, he was the son of the late Angelo and Josephine (Licata) Morreale; and beloved husband of Lydia (Dalla Torre) Morreale, who he married on June 3, 1967 at the former Sacred Heart Church.
Dr. Morreale was a graduate of Niagara University and the University of Buffalo Dental School. He is the holder of the Alpha Omega award for excellence in scholarship for attaining the highest scholastic standing for four years of dental study.  He was the recipient of the Barrett Foundation prize, an award given annually to the member of the graduating class whose total average for the entire coursework was the highest.  The American Society of Dentistry also presented him with an award for excellence in children’s dentistry.  In addition, he was elected to membership in the Omicron Kappa Upsilon national honorary dental fraternity.
Dr. Morreale served honorably in the U.S. Air Force as a captain for two years.  He then opened his dental practice in 1962 on Niagara Street, where he enjoyed serving the community for 55 years until his retirement in 2014 from Dental Care Associates at the age of 80.
Dr. Morreale was a talented musician and enjoyed playing saxophone and clarinet.  He was a member of the Niagara Falls Musicians Hall of Fame and Lewiston Jazz Festival committee.  He was incredibly generous, and his generosity went beyond material things.  He was a devout Catholic and longtime, active parishioner at Holy Family Parish at St. Joseph Church and was also involved with Catholic Charities for many years.
In his leisure time, he enjoyed playing the game of golf, especially with a group of guys he spent so much time with.  Together they traveled all over and created numerous memorable stories.
In addition to his lovely wife, Lydia Morreale, of 51 years, he is also survived by his son David Morreale, and daughter Janene (Paul) Sullivan; two granddaughters, Samantha and Sabrina, whom he adored.  In addition, he is also survived by his brother George (Margaret) Morreale, and two sisters, Vera (late Arthur) Fabiano and Jennie (Frank) Borgese.  He was predeceased by his brother Joseph (Rose) Morreale and two sisters, Rose (late Cezar) Sarkees and Mary Morreale.
Visitation will be on Sunday, January 13th from 3 – 7 P.M. at M.J. COLUCCI & SON NIAGARA FUNERAL CHAPEL, 2730 Military Road, Niagara Falls, NY.  Dr. Morreale’s Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 10:00 A.M. at Holy Family Parish at St. Joseph Church, 1413 Pine Avenue, Niagara Falls, NY.  Everyone please assemble at the church.  Interment will follow at St Joseph's Cemetery.  Flowers are gratefully declined, but if desired, memorial contributions can be made to one's charity of choice. Lawrence ‘Larry’ A. Morreale, 73, of Youngstown, NY, passed away on September 22, 2021 at his residence under the care of Niagara Hospice.  Born in Niagara Falls, NY, he was the son of the late Joseph J. and Rose I. (Giancola) Morreale.
Larry graduated from Bishop Duffy High School in 1966 and St. Joseph’s College in Rensselaer, Indiana in 1970 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business.  Larry spent his working life in the printing and direct marketing fields, beginning his career at Moore Business Forms.  Most recently, he was employed for 20 years as a Sales & Marketing Professional with Matrix Imaging.  Larry was an avid golfer and member of Niagara Falls Country Club, where he won many tournaments, including the Senior Championship.  He also enjoyed boating and jet skiing in Wilson, NY.  Above all, Larry will be remembered for his generosity and loving and caring nature.
Larry is survived by his longtime love, Deborah K. Nichols, his children, Joseph D. (Cindy) Morreale and Nicholas T. (Morgan) Morreale; his grandchildren, Jonathan Morreale, Haley Morreale, Bridget Morreale, and Dino Lawrence Morreale; Deborah’s children; his siblings, Angelo (Louisa) Morreale, Gene (Mary) Morreale, and Robin ‘Rob’ (Donna) Morreale, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 26 from 3 – 7 PM at M.J. Angelo J. Sarkees, 76, of Lewiston, NY, passed away on June 22, 2024 at Niagara Hospice House in Lockport, NY.  Born in Niagara Falls, NY, he was the son of the late Cezar J. and Rose M. (Morreale) Sarkees.
Andy, as he was affectionately known, was a graduate of Bishop Duffy High School, and earned his Bachelor’s Degree from Niagara University and later his Master’s Degree from University at Buffalo in Chemical Engineering.  In 1993, he married Linda C. (Grochala) Sarkees at Sacred Heart Church.   Ange was employed for 30 years as a Water Engineer with the D.E.C. in Buffalo, NY, until his retirement. 
His true passion and mission in life was giving back.  Earning the title of ‘The Can Man’, Angelo founded ‘Deposits For Food’, where he collected cans and bottles, raising over $100,000 for Community Missions, Heart, Love and Soul and the Ransomville and Wilson Food Pantry.  He was awarded the 2023 Philanthropist of the Year award by the Association of Fundraising.  Angelo was also the former president of the Board of Directors for the Niagara Civic Ballet for several years.
In his spare time, Andy enjoyed collecting and antiquing with his wife, loved watching sports, listening to music, and playing golf.  Above all else, he was dedicated to his family - especially helping his aunts and uncles and spending time with his grandchildren.
In addition to his wife of 30 years, Angelo is survived by his daughter, Jennifer (Peter Eisenhauer) Sarkees; his step-daughters, Tina (Michael) Mahowish and Carrie (Jesse Goldberg) Chilberg; his grandchildren, Miranda, Logan, Sebastian, Novy, Luna and Ezra; his siblings, Rosemary (Fredric) Samulski, Frank (Joanne) Sarkees, Joseph (Melanie) Sarkees, and Christina Sarkees (Barbara Weber); as well as several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.  He was predeceased by his twin brother, Barber (late Linda Kay) Sarkees.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 30 from 4 – 7 PM at M.J.
